Finished 'bout an hour ago, and I'm really happy with 01's candy toy run. The complete sets were a banger, and as Saber is on deep waters currently, I got the box with a spare Saber just in case. The guys (and gal) in the first set were easily as enjoyable as Zero-One's. The only thing that annoyed me about today's run was the amount of stickers on the Dodos and Blades' scarves. I still managed to get Saber Dragon Lion for a few minutes, but I'm not doing that again anytime soon. some pics later.

Looks like Gaim Sodo wave 2 is either A)cheaper then wave 1 or B) getting imported by Blue Fin because on BBTS it's $70 as apposed to the $95 set 1 was.

I customized Shodo-VS Super-1 years ago, so I'll be comparing them as I go. I borrowed Riderman's scarf (any yellow scarf works) to make the VS figure into Robot Super-1.

Most of the work was on the belt. The silver and black was painted out of the box, but I had to paint the rest. I painted the Super Hands switch white on the VS version, which is wrong. It's suppose to be silver. Corrected that here on X.

I painted:
Silver: Suspension, steering column, and handle bars.
Black: Chain, kickstand, and engine (they only painted half).
White: Straps on the seat and around the engine.

Blue Version has some filming variants (toy matches the first one most) and I can't find the long antennas on anything but promotional images and toys. In the show they're either short or not there at all. I don't want to cut them until I know where the long antennas came from.

About $15 shipped from Japan which is about as low as I've seen SODO go on Ebay. I've purchased from this seller before, however not since the pandemic so hopefully it all goes smooth.

I really hope that we end up getting alternate heads for all of the in-show users and combos, at least those that actually appeared in series, along with heads for the likes of Buta3 and Pegasus which have only appeared in triple combos.

Going by the last couple of series, the King Arthur robo and the Diago Speedy (and maaaaybe the Gatrikephone?) will get their own separate special wave. I definitely think though that the Arthur arm will be in the normal waves.

I feel like they'll do the Gatrike and Diago together and as a cashgrab they'll release a whole saber with Arthur arm together with the robo.

I mean, Toei is usually very clear that they don't count Stageshows as official Rider content for the purposes of anything (their published Rider lists never include Stageshow exclusives, they're never really referenced anywhere, and in 20 years the only exception I can think of is the exceptional circumstances of Kachidoki Zangetsu), so I don't think this is them not bothering, it's them not making a toy of something outside their sphere. They made a figure of translucent Barlckx, I can't see them looking at Woz Armor and going "Nah, can't be bothered".

So, we're definitely getting the Abaddon soldiers from the Zero-One movie, too. It looks like they all share the same suit, albeit with very minor color differences, so they could just release one that comes with both the Shotriser and Slashriser recolors, as well as all 4 color schemes on the sticker sheet. I could also see them releasing them separately; the Shotriser soldier with green and blue stickers, and then the Slashriser soldier with red and orange stickers.

Also, haven't done this in a while, but today's news! The reveal of SHODO-O Wave 5, coming March 2021, featuring a pretty obvious complement to the upcoming/released-idk-which Ex-Aid!

That Genm Level 2 is the ugliest SODO/SHODO I've ever seen but I could not care less when THEY'RE DOING JOKER?! And it's beautiful?! Dangerous Zombie is amazing too holy heck!

Yeah, I'm definitely guessing Level 2 got the short end of the paint budget so Joker could shine. Both Jokers, tbf.

Yo, more Ex-Aid! Maybe we will get more Ex-Aod figure-rises at some point...

Oh, and this Chronicle Gaim announcement kinda screws up my predictions already, haha! I guess I should have figured they'd do all the energy riders as one set, but I figured Duke would make it into retail considering his greater prominence and how his merch has been treated in the past.

Regardless; my new prediction for Wave 3 then is Kiwami, Kurokage, Gridon and Bravo. The latter two are suddenly getting more attention, the final form always gets to be in a retail wave, and despite Knuckle being way more important and popular than Kurokage, I believe they'd want to make Kurokage retail for troopbuilding. I guess Premium Bandai Wave 2 is gonna have Knuckle leading the charge with some extra arms!

The Good:
More Blade stuff. Get to complete the core Riders (and the rare spider Rider). Wasn't expecting Jokers. Very nice and looking forward to it.
I like Dangerous Zombie has his posing hands.
The Energy Riders look amazing. Sculpted soda eyes!

The Bad:
4 Gemns in a single wave. It's just too much. Hoping they're only 1 per case each so Blade fans have an easier time getting their figures.

The Frustrating:
The thing I'd like to be the most excited for is Premium Bandai. I'm so very tired of this.

Yeah, it's annoying when we get four Genms and in their place we could've gotten Genm, Brave, Snipe and maybe even lazer. Although if they're being this completist for Genm who's not even the secondary that keeps my hopes high for more guys from Ex-Aid.

I don't know, I'm not sure those are the two options we'd be getting for this SHODO wave? If we didn't get four different Genms, we'd probably just be getting duplicates of two different Genms. I'm not sure we'd get a Brave if they dropped one of the Dangerous Zombies.

I'm fine with two Genms, but four is super over the top especially when the Dangerous Zombies are just a belt swap. Just include alternate parts! Even if you're not gonna do more Ex-Aid Riders you could have at least used this to include Leangle's bike. I don't wanna complain too much because Dangerous Zombie looks beautiful and the fact that Joker is existing at all is phenomenal, never mind how gorgeous the figure looks! But this wave had to go and have some... interesting decisions.

That said, previous waves have only had 5 figures, right? Maybe the only reason we have 7 figures in this one is because there's so few differences between 2/0 and X/X-0.

I know it wasn't for certain if they got dropped. I still hope they redo all of the other riders, at least in their base level 2 forms. For some reason I just really like Ex-Aid. If he ever gets a CSM, I'll be bankrupt.

A while ago, they mentioned they'd explicitly stopped doing chase figures, which is what I'd guarantee Genm Level 0 and X-0 would have been, like, a year ago. Removing them wouldn't get us new Riders, it would just bump the numbers in the wave down from 7 to 5.

Huh, didn't know they used to do chases. Hopefully we still get the others at a later stage.

All of Ex-Aid's riders are certainly antagonistic enough to fit SHODO-O...

Though, hm, thinking about it; I wonder who else would fit the line?

- Agito... is done, aside from a few forms! Unless they think Exceed Gills would fit the line enough?
- Literally anyone from Ryuki. How has Zolda not happened yet
- Psyga and Orga would fit well; we even got the Riotrooper recently
- Garren Jack and the Blade movie riders
- Once again, literally anyone from Kabuto. Well, Gatack wouldn't work; but the other three riders and the movie ones would
- Alright Showa's kind of my blind spot, but are any of the villains not covered popular enough? I think Great Leader, Apollo Geist, General Jark and Shadow Moon kinda covers all the big ones. Aside from the ACTUAL big one but he's, uh, too big. Ambassador Hell, perhaps? Igadevil? General Shadow?

What size weapons or pegs fit in the weapon-holding hands for SO-DO figures? 3mm? 5mm? Thinking of looking into extra weapons for customs.

I'm not sure if it's universal, but Shooting Wolf from Zero-One takes a 3mm Transformers Prime Cyberverse weapon with no problem. So, 3mm?

The P-Bandai Gaim Energy Riders set is up on BBTS for $108. I've got a loose rule of never wanting to spend more than $20 for a SO-DO figure, but... man, really thinking hard about this one.

Yeah, no, don't even bother; BBTS always overcharges by like double for P-Bandai stuff. Wait on Mandarake.
