Time does this. Time changes you. You will eventually just phase out of something and forget about it. But, in my experience, that’s ultimately for the better. Because it makes room. For every one thing you leave behind there are two more new things to discover.

I had a small revelation earlier this year when I felt so much joy upon discovering something I was completely unaware of before and that got me thinking - there's so much stuff out there to learn about and this feeling will come back again and again and that just made me stupid happy.

It’s something to hold on to throughout this bullshit year and I'm thankful for it.

It happens! You've changed, the franchise changed, it's all fairly common. It is an okay thing to have happen! It might actually be for the best?

I've got a friend who's into everything he's ever been into, and it seems exhausting. He collects dozens of things, and it doesn't even look fun for him. Like, he identifies as A Fan Of Something, and so he can't let go of it ever, no matter who little he might feel connected to it.

But, y'know, it's totally fine to grow out of stuff. It doesn't mean that you've wasted your time, because you still have memories of when you got a lot out of that franchise. It doesn't mean the franchise let you down, because it's probably working for other people. It doesn't have to mean anything more than that you don't enjoy something anymore. That doesn't have to be a big deal unless you make it one.

I guess, maybe treat it like an amicable break-up? There was a point in time where you and the franchise cared a lot about each other, and had fun, but that time is over. You can both move on without it diminishing what you had.

I'mma say it right now.

I'm probably like the one guy who likes Batman & Robin.

I liked it too. Was it the best? Not in my opinion. But was it still a good movie? Yes. Definitely yes.

Friday June 26th I'll be watching Ice Age 1 - 5 and the new year of Doctor Who with the 13th Doctor. Doctor Who will take me til July 5 to see the current 10. Also watching Bring It On 4 In It To Win It and Bring It On 5 Fight To The Finish. By then I should have the 13th Doctor's 2nd turn shipped.

Doctor Who finished in March so it took me 4 months to see it. Revolution Of The Daleks this Christmas.

Still will also need to watch Bring It On 6 World Wide Cheer Smack. Also the 8th Rocky movie Creed II.

I also watched Downton Abbey The Movie which I actually liked it.

Thirded. I can't say it's a good film- but it's always been an entertaining one. I'm glad that it was eventually vindicated in the same way the 66 series was.

I'm starting the CBS All Access Series Star Trek Discovery Year 2 on DVD. They brought Chris Pike into it which I'm curious to see how that does. Pike was last seen in The Cage and the 2 parter The Menagerie.

Ice Age 6 is possibly coming out but that might be after COVID before we see it.

Among the reveals I think I still like Cobra Commander the best, even though we knew about him already. The Red Ninja looks a bit weird and I prefer a non-arctic Storm Shadow.

Yeah, I think they're doing some fun stuff with the Classified series. It's not really my fandom, but I like looking at them.

Jokes aside, the Classified series are some really impressive figures. The Snake Eyes body is basically 99% what the base mold should be for alot of their figures going forward. I'd really only change like, 2 things about it.

That said, I didn't grow up on GI Joe, and I don't have the space to collect figures of characters I'm not especially attached to. But if I did... yeah, I'd totally grab Snake Eyes and Storm Shroud.

Talking of recent toys - and I'm only asking here bc I can't find a thread for it - I was browing HLJ and found this. Is this like, comparable to the KR gimmick figures of old? SHF size but not as detailed or articulated, but still a really good figure of the same size for a much cheaper price? Because I might be interested, I just need to know the scale!

That's pretty much what these are, yes. I think they are around the same size too, like 150mm? So a bit bigger than SHF's.
