What? Gekiranger, the 2007 Sentai, tried plenty of different things, featuring a narrative that follows the villains just as much as it follows the heroes and it introduced the first new color in a decade.

He wasn't classified as a hero until he was red, and no amount of headcanon will change that.

If Sentai gets to believe Gosei Knight is an Other and Gosei Green is a 6th, then I get to believe Wolzard was the first purple senshi. :lol

The fact that one hero was a different colour and it put narrative focus on the different side of the coin classes as 'plenty of different things' says everything, and is hilarious.

Gekiranger changed how the stories were told, how the costumes were designed, how the mecha suits flowed, how the fights were handled, and had a unique narrative.

I dunno where you're getting this shit from though, bro, and there is no need to be nasty about it, either. I like sentai, I don't like the mech stuff granted, but I like sentai. And when you see how much Kamen Rider has grown, and is still growing, then compare it to sentai, the growth sentai has made in the last twenty years is weak at best.

When did I write off Gekiranger? I've only seen a single episode, it wasn't for me because I didn't like the protagonist, but I can't judge the whole show on that single episode. I just have so much to watch right now, I have no real reason to continue with the series.

But yah, I am disappointed GoBusters failed, then Kyoryuger turned out to be a smash because personally I think Kyoryuger is awful and I guess that is what we'll keep getting as it make them money.

Not sure how I feel about it pulling a similar move to Go-busters, still, be interesting to see where the series heads from here. Plezuoh is just as awesome as I had hoped he would be on screen, and it was cool to see Daigo's dad sort of appear (still not sure if the others could see him or not)

Oh, and as cool as the Dr.Ulshade stuff is, its also kind of annoying as I'm now trying to apply logic to everything else =p

As for your little lovers tiff up there, I find it funny that you (Locke) constantly bring up budget for other shows and yet don't apply that logic here. Sure they can probably afford to make it look better but why bother if it sells? It also adds to the replicable and resell-able nature of the show, if it looks like a toy/costume is doing the action then kids are going to be more absorbed in the fantasy of it all. At the same time, the advancements in narrative style are as you said pretty much the same and one series (matrix) doesn't exactly show evolution in the franchise.

When Daigo unlocks hi's battlelizer, the morph kind of ruins the mood.
