http://www.rangerarchive.com/Car/Dappu.jpg BTW his name is Dappu. I think he's supposed to be the Carranger equivalent of the monkey wizard from the Turbo movie. |

I'm just afraid my hands might involuntarily strangle me if I watch it. Being one who has seen a whopping 3 Sentai in full, the parody will probably be lost on me and I wouldn't get the jokes, likely finding it more annoying than charming. |

The hell? Carranger is hilariously good. Even taking Dappu into account who is himself hilarious. When he faked his death so the rangers would be responsible it was brilliant, and that's just the first episode! It may have been intended to be a parody but the show is seriously memorable. I would never tell someone they shouldn't watch it. Sure the entire series isn't subbed yet. But about half of it is, and that half is great stuff.

Having just finished up the anime I was watching, I will be joining the ranks of those watching Zyuranger later today :D

Kakuranger 2, where they prove that a non-transforming mecha component can still fight a giant monster.

Plus, CarRanger is the show that saved Sentai from being canceled, so it is a must watch. |

Just powered through the last four episodes of Zyuranger. Man, that was a good conclusion. There were some really good mech battles, some cool story developments, and several good emotional beats (the last scene with Bandora and her crew is both hilarious and kind of adorable). I think we could have done without the little boy in the hospital, but I suppose it's not Zyuranger if there isn't a child awkwardly shoved into the center of the plot somewhere. Still, it was a great finale (and it was a nice touch that the GUIS sub of the last episode ends with a trailer for Dairanger, including a snippet of its vastly superior ending theme).
Overall, I can't say that Zyuranger is going down as my favorite Sentai, but it is a really great show nonetheless. The fantasy theme is a lot of fun and leads to some cool story moments, the mech designs are fantastic (especially when compared to Jetman), and the villains are really enjoyable. The biggest downside is that the Zyurangers themselves are all really flat characters with few noticeable personality traits beyond just being generally heroic. I think a more dynamic cast like Jetman or Dairanger's - and maybe an occasional episode with no guest child actor - could elevate this to one of the best Sentais ever. As it stands, though, it's still a great show and I think it gets unfairly overlooked in favor of the two shows that surround it. |
Dekaranger 37, goddamn. That is one of the single most emotionally powerful episodes of a sentai that I've seen. It definitely adds a ton of depth to Hoji that I was not expecting.

Meanwhile, with Zyuranger finished it's time to move on to my next Sentai. I have the Kakuranger episodes GUIS just put out, but I've been wanting to check out Boukenger for awhile so I just checked out the first episode of that. I liked it. Quite a bit. I think I'm going to keep going. So far I'm really digging Akashi and the others look pretty cool (except Natsumi, who I'm sure I'll want to bludgen with Daibouken's shovel by the time I hit episode five). I wish there was a better sub, though. The video quality on the TVN version is pretty bad and their stupid vanity splash pages mean I have to mess with my player to fix the audio synch. |
Saw Kakuranger 3 earlier. I love how Jiraiya had a cowboy outfit for no reason other than stereotypes.
Also saw the first episode of Rescue Fire(I seriously don't know where this should go). Already I think I like Taiga more than Ishiguro. I hope he won't lighten up on Tatsuya since Tatsuya's being late to an emergency was justified. |

episode 15 of gokaiger I swear basco is like a Japanese jack sparrow to me for some reason I mean marvelous fits that better but idk... holy crap gosei knight is still kicking ass! |
Kakuranger 4. Mighty Shogun is awesome. Grabs the enemy's sword, and just punches him in the face :lol
I'm also curious how many of those fish sword replacements they had on standby, what with the fire and all :p Also, it's nice seeing where PR got the inspiration for a monster party :lol Also, decided to rewatch the Power Rangers Ninja Quest 4 parter. I thank god that I was only like, 4 when all this originally aired, because I don't know how intense my anger would've been if they established "We lost our powers" and "Now you draw your power from the ninja, instead of the dinosaur!" and then use the Zyu suits again. |
I just watched a little bit of Bokuenger VS Super Sentai. Haven't watched all of it though, I kind of just skipped to Nanami's first appearance (she's pretty much my favorite Sentai babe).

Just watched the first 3 episodes of Zyuranger. Before I even get started on what I think there's a far more pressing issue I need to get off my chest...
That's Bandora's hair?!? I've spent the last 20 years thinking that was a hat. My brain can barely process this revelation let alone all the major differences to MMPR. That aside, so far I'm impressed. I'm enjoying the much deeper backstory in comparison to Power Rangers, and Bandora has quite a quirky personality that I'm sure I'll grow to love as the episodes go on. |
Just caught the Dekaranger Full Blast Movie. I've gotta say that for a movie I wasn't expecting alot out of, that it delivered very well. The Dekagold stuff wasn't done as well as I'd hoped though. Why go through the trouble of designing Maris' unique Police Uniform then give her a unique SP license, 2 specific D-Arms , and a ranger Dekasuit if none of these things are onscreen for more than 5 seconds?
Sure she wears her uniform the whole time but none of her other unique features are seen again. I mean seriously, that Dekasuit looks awesome for the whole 3-5 seconds it's on screen. They spent a lot of time developing Mari as a character, who is fabulous by the way, but didn't utilize her fully. And is it just me or do the Gas Drinkers gang look like they have a fetish for Shadam, Zaidosu, and Gara from Dairanger? They certainly share a flair for weird leather clothing :lol |
So we got through out Dredd-athon earlier than planned today, so I watched episodes 30-39 of ZyuRanger. Once again I continue to love this show just as much subbed as I have raw. In fact, I do have to say I like the episode with the spinning wheel of doom thing even more now that I have seen this episode subbed than I did raw because I missed all of the fairy tale references until now. I also love how there was no actual Monster of the Week in that episode, it was just Bandora killing time.
Oh, and I always say this every time I watch the series, but poor girl. She gets pulled through a glass of water at the beginning of episode 30 by Bandora, rescued, only to be eaten by DoraNarcissus in 32 at the exact spot Bandora kidnapped her. |
Gekiranger 34. SaiDaiOh debuts and totally kills Kata. That's one point for Ken!
Also Rescue Fire 2-4. I don't whether it's better suits, better characters, better actors, better music, better one-off episodes, villains that aren't The Three Stooges as robots, the fact that every member gets a vehicle that's not a Nissian, or some combination of all of that, but I'm definitely feeling this show more than Rescue Force. It still has Rescue Force's specialized footage problem, but even that's getting better. In episode 4, Fire-2 even Fires-Up without showing the transformation sequence! I hope these first few episodes are something to go by, and that this show will blow Rescue Force out of the water. |

episode 25 of gokaiger
those the guys from ninja storm! (hurricanger) I hope they use that somehow in Americas version of gokaiger and one of the kids they get has a magiking and deakrobo on his shelf :lol the yellow guy just grabbed lukas boobs... :lolol :lol |
Watched a couple more episodes of Boukenger. Continuing to really enjoy it. After coming off of Zyuranger it's really nice to see a cast of dynamic characters with different personalities again, even if one of them is insufferably annoying (is Natsuki going to talk in third person for the entire damn series?). I find it kind of odd that I find Natsuki almost unbearable, but at the same time I'm really liking Shizuka of the Wind already. I guess there's some kind of vague line that separates the amusing genki girls from the obnoxious ones for me - Umeko and Shizuka are on one side, Natsuki on the other. I guess I can thank Boukenger for illustrating that for me so clearly.
Also, I can already tell that the ninja faction is going to bring out the worst in TV-Nihon. Sigh no jutsu. :( |
Still wishing my DVD from Gokaiger arrives soon. Until then, I'll watch a couple episodes of Goseiger, and get back to watching Dairanger.

Just watched epsiodes 24 and 25 of Boukenger. The first one was a comedy episode which actually had some action good bits in it. The comedy was not bad either.
The second episode seemed like another comedy episode at first, but turned out to be quite serious and enjoyable. The idea of a monster becoming super smart and then abandoning the simple ambitions of Dark Shadow, only to become obsessed with saving the Earth from humanity was very well implemented. Similarly, the friendship between Eiji and the monster was really well done as well. Really strong ep, I thought. I am trying to finish up Boukenger in prep for doing Gekiranger for LWW, but man, I am really enjoying the heck out of this show. |

7 episodes of Kakuranger just flew by. I want more...
*Sighs* With everyone else watching Bouken, and me only 3 episodes in, I guess the only logical thing to do is to start watching something else. |

Well, I just watched the first two episodes of Goseiger. And all I can say is that I freaking love it! The opening and ending themes get my all smiley and excited, the characters are nice (Moune and Hyde are my favorites of the regular team), the villains all look sweet, I just all around love it. I might have to make it the next Sentai I purchase.
