Interesting bit of speculation running around the old internet now: Episode 1 will feature a phone call from Eleven to Clara (from his point of view just prior to her arrival in the TARDIS at the end of Time of the Doctor). Also, new TARDIS exterior starting in episode 2.

I've heard this from people I know who were at the filming too. Couldn't go myself as I work outside Cardiff city centre :(

I think that is how I'd react if someone as gorgeous as Clara hugged me. Also Capaldi Who is dapper as fuck, and not in that pretentious hipster way that Smith Who was.

Well, today I finally jumped on the Big Finish Bandwagon. I bought Dead London and The Rapture from my local shop. I've listened to Dead London and loved it, so now I know I'm never going to buy any rider stuff. Doctor Who, take what money I have.

You mean Ben Wheatley slipping that it may be starting in July? Yeah, just heard about it now.

Will be nice if its true, but I guess the Moff is the one with the final say on things and he seems to keep pushing for Autumn. He does of course like to lie though, so it could be a nice surprise.

Either way, July is still longer than the usual March/April date :(

Ben Wheatley is directing the first two episodes of series 8.

I've read somewhere else that he might have meant that's when his completed (FX, music, etc) episodes would be finalized, not necessarily when they would start airing. I don't know, personally, it sounds like someone trying not to get their hopes up.

Well, fair enough, but I'm thinking that's his personal dead line, not the release date.

I think his deadline will have to be earlier than July. He starts filming the adaptation of High Rise in June. That isn't to say he couldn't squeeze in doing both, but I would think he'd like to have one done before starting the other.

So I watched the first two episodes of 9th's season... I think I'm going to like this show. :)

So LEGO CUUSOO made a post today stating that licensing issues over Doctor Who projects have been resolved. Don't know what this means for the Character Building license, but it leaves me somewhat optimistic. :3

I'm curious to see where this goes. I'd love to see Doctor Who LEGO, but the price some sets go for is a massive turn off for me.

In my opinion, though, comparing the value of Character Options and LEGO, I'd go for LEGO anytime. :D I've always felt that LEGO sets were just so worth it because of how sturdy the bricks are and how well-designed everything is. They're a premium brand in my eyes and I really hope they never compromise too much on that front.

While I don't disagree that LEGO's quality is higher, I don't want to see them attempt to charge £250 for a huge TARDIS set like they are with the Metalbeard Sea Cow set for the LEGO movie. I just don't think that would go down well with Doctor Who.

So my brother has been nagging me to watch an episode entitled "Daleks in Manhattan." I keep saying no and he keeps asking me why which basically causes me to give the same argument which pretty much goes like this.

"Is it the third episode of Ninth's season?"
"No..."
"Then I don't care about it at the moment."

Am I being to irrational here? Because he won't shut up about it and it makes me feel like I'm the bad guy.

No, because not only is it 2 seasons ahead of where you are but its also a pretty disappointing story :lol

Well, the Metalbeard Sea Cow set is more of the exception than the norm. It's one of those collector-oriented sets. For a TARDIS I'd probably guess a $60-80 set with just the central console (no walls).

Truthfully you'll probably get less parts per piece compared to Character Options, but it may not necessarily mean the sets are Metalbeard Sea Cow worthy. :lol

Eh, I still feel that's too much for something that's going to mainly be aimed at kids if LEGO ever considered doing a Doctor Who range. If it was one or two collector orientated sets then that's a different story.

LEGO is expensive for what it is and official licenses really don't help that matter. And this is coming from someone who was a diehard LEGO collector in the late 90s/early 00s.

If they did a Doctor Who range, it'll likely be very small unless that line suddenly exploded into a big hit.

I don't know, I feel that while expensive, LEGO is more worth the money because other companies like Kre-O, Mega Bloks and Character Building charge not much cheaper and the product isn't really comparable in quality. The TARDIS (the outside, not the console) set I got, was more expensive than a LEGO battle pack, with nearly half the piece count and minus 2 minifigs. And my TARDIS doors were bent after assembly. And the TARDIS console is $80 USD for 250 pieces, which is not unlike a LEGO set of the same piece amount. Well, that's really just my opinion though.

Oh no, I totally respect your view :) to be honest I think most construction toys are expensive for what they are :lol its just with LEGO I loved it so much growing up that it kinda stings that I had to stop because of rising prices.

I don't think you guys understand what Cuusoo is...

Because it can be posted on Cuusoo does not mean it will become an entire line of sets. Only Minecraft has broken that because of its huge popularity.

Cuusoo votes in one, single set. And they are all collector-oriented thus far. And at reasonable prices in my opinion (all around 35 USD I believe).

All this announcement means is that a fan can now build a Doctor Who set themselves, try and get 10,000 votes to get it reviewed, and then maybe (slim maybe) it gets approved. Most haven't.

A set with the Tardis (outside), the Doctor, and a few companions is the most likely to both garner attention and get through review. If there aren't new molds (so that could make some of the hair styles difficult lol... and getting a Sonic). Also agreeing on which Doctor could be a point of contention, but that would be ultimately up to LEGO after they start work on the final product anyways.

I know how Cusoo works, nor do I think that an entire line of LEGO Doctor Who sets is going to happen any time soon. I was merely pointing out that I wouldn't really be that enthused by it if it did.

A very limited run resin garage kit of the TV21 comics Emperor Dalek from the 60s. Its been a project I've been on and off doing for about 6 months when I got the time, and finally completed it today.

No Dalek toy/model will ever top this for me.
