I just started watching Kiva yesterday. So far it's pretty good and Wataru's personality is hilarious.

Watching more and more of Den-O and this is shaping up to be among my favorite Rider-shows. The only critic point I have up to now (Episode 24) is that there is no backstory. At all. The only thing that goes on behind the weekly monster-plot is the guy with the clock that is supposedly... you know who.
But I couldn’t care less this because show is just so much fun. I would watch like 8 movies of this show if they'd exist. … Wait. |
Den-O has no backstory, really. It's just wacky adventures and characters doin' what they do.
That is until the last, like, ten eps when it's like "oh fuck shit there needs to be some kind of climax or something" and then suddenly there's a villain with a goal and it all feel very last-minute. Quote:

OOO Episode 20.
So I finally started on OOOs last week, and I really enjoying OOO much more than I thought I would, really good stuff so far. I also did not expect Tajador combo to appear so early in the show either. |

Started on a couple episodes of Dragon Knight myself. I get what some people have said about it. It's not bad it's just... kind of boring.
Somehow the music choices and editing along with the hit-or-miss acting makes the whole thing already feel so much less engaging than Ryuki on some level. Like even during action sequences, the alterations to the audio and soundtrack just make the scenes less exciting to watch. Also, Maya's friend is just obnoxious to me. Kind of a slightly annoying snooze-fest so far, but I guess I'm still interested enough to watch more later. |

But as the series progresses, those thoughts dim. He stops seeing Kiva as a means to an end, as a wicked shadow or internal adversary, and starts realizing that he and Kiva are one in the same. At the end he stares down Fangire in his human form, driving them away with his mere presence, something he could never have done from the start. He bridges the gap, reconsiles man and Fangire, and puts an end to the hunting. Sure the NeoFangire happens but we don't know why and it could easily be assumed as being "Fangire splinter cell that disagrees with the King's new decree." Quote:

How does anything you just said apply to my criticism? He knew Dai was a Fangire when he killed that entire resturant of people. My point is who in their right fucking mind would see that scene and think "oh woe is me?" How about oh woe is all those fuckin' dead people? Pre-W Hesei riders have a nasty tendancy to not give a shit about people's lives, and just generally not be heroic at all. It's all about beating the monster, not because it'll save poeple, but because that's what a Kamen Rider does. They're too often completely disconnected from the lives of anyone but their own, like the writers think it's "uncool" or "too kiddy" to have heroes place civilian lives as top priority. |
Couldn't he feel that way BECAUSE all these people are dead and his trusting a Fangire is why?
"No! All these people, their lives lost because I didn't kill Dai. Dead because I thought I could pacify a Fangire, I'm such an idiot! Well no more, Fangire. I will end you for this." Besides he cared about how Rhino went about his feedings, luring talented young people out by promising to fulfill their dreams and then eating them. Waturu heard that and said that Rhino was unforgivable for what he did and then smashes him with a giant purple lightning fist. |

they could have done it like 555 where they show it so much that we just get sick of it.
"we get it, being turned to ash is bad, just stop reminding us" |
I'm on episode 14 of Kamen rider Kiva. So far, I have to say Otoya is my favorite character becuase he is just too funny.

Ep 38 on Kuuga.
Ichijou gets rekt by the rose Grongi, and Kuuga stands around and does nothing against the bat and kabuto, just watching them fight. They start talking about Daguva, with rose saying that Kuuga will be fused by his power and become a weapon of destruction, and the bat saying that he's been infused with some of his power to explain why he's so strong. Neat. They figure out the pattern of the acid using Grongi's killings, and now that they know her next target, the bat reappears and goes on a killing spree, just to screw everything over. |
Kuuga episode 8.
I like Pegasus form. Renewal figuarts when. |
Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider Drive and Gaim: Movie War Full Throttle: This movie was a total blast! I enjoyed so much of this movie. Well The Gaim part was brilliant mainly because the lack of Gaim and showcased the spotlight of how good the Kureshima brothers are and that they needed to be done better in the show. We didn't need Micchy being evil or Takatora being chumped and abandoned like he was in the show; they needed to be like they were in this movie: The awesome heroes that they always had the potential to be. Also Micchy saving Mai and Takatora defeating Ryouma both things should have happened in the show. Still Micchy and Takatora working together was one of my favorite things ever especially love the Grape Sparking attack with the giant Energy Dragon. The Drive part of the movie was excellent as well with Shinnosuke learning about what it means to be a Kamen Rider I enjoyed a lot and the use of the Shift Cars was great too. Mach's first appearance was a lot of fun I think he should have done a little more but still good. I actually forgot that Chaser used to be with Heart and Brain after being so far in the series lol. Chaser and Drive teaming up even though being no big thing now was still fun thinking back when this was in the series. I love Kamen Rider Lupin his character and his costume are both fantastic he really stole the show for me. I also loved Megahex too being that his race escaped the Survival game but mechanizing was interesting. Honestly, Megahex could have been a villain for an entire series not just a movie. The Drive/Gaim part was a lot of fun but it was probably the weakest part because there was no real reason to have the crossover power; I would have rather seen some sort of more inventive movie exclusive forms for both Drive and Gaim. Also new forms for Ryugen, Baron, and Zangetsu as well. I mean Megahex brought back Ryouma with new power; no reason that Baron shouldn't have gotten one either. Still that part is just the merchandising part not the storyline I am complaining about. Drive got along well with the Gaim cast and that was cool, I think it would have been better if we got more of the SCU with the Gaim cast though. Kouta was written so much better in this movie, he had more character to him and overall had great chemistry with Drive. I honestly believe that Gaim would have been so much better if Riku Sanjou, Jin Haganeya, or another writer would have done Gaim over Gen Urobuchi. I loved the Trideron in space and them together bit was just overall fantastic. Baron's return and Heart, Brain, and Chase all helping at the end was fantastic as well. Overall one of my favorite Team-Up movies. I think I've only seen three or so; so definitely in the top three then lol.

To me the best part of that movie was Gaim and Drive trying to fit into his car, and Gaim not putting his seatbelt on. Otherwise it felt super forgettable. |
Kuuga 39. The mystery intensifies.
Kuuga eventually deals with the acid Grongi, able to defeat her with no problem once he got rid of her claw. Driving her to a safe bunker, he kills her easily, leading to a brief sequence where he has to outrun her explosion on the BeatChaser. There's no rest, though, since he has to quickly move on to handle the bat, who is terrorizing around a forest. Despite stopping him from killing all the policemen in the area, he can't defeat him, surprisingly. Even with Ichijou's aid, he's just too strong. After hearing a loud roar and proclaiming "Daguva," he runs off deeper in the forest. Godai and Ichijou give chase, and after seeing a large column of lightning, they soon end up coming across the dead body of the bat. Interesting episode. We learn a little of how Godai was like as a child thanks to the teacher returning, and we see Ichijou not listening to the doctor as he rushes out the hosptial despite his wounds. Rose meets up with the other Grongi group and tells them to stop underestimating Kuuga (I'm glad they finally got that through their thick skulls...), so I hope this leads to something interesting, too. |
You've nearly caught up to me. I'd better hurry and finish the last three episodes, so I can comment on them when you get to them.
|
Oh, no worries about that. It's been rough getting by with just one episode a day. I think you'd outpace me still, seeing as I have 11 more :lol
|
I'm on episode 26 of Kiva. I'm at the part where Maya and Otoya meet. Man, this is some serious drama.
|
Kuuga 40.
Enokida is a horrible mom. Grongi kills people on a plane then escapes to the sea, and now there's some guy in a white coat standing around. I know it's obviously a cliffhanger ending, but I really don't have the interest to watch 2 episodes back to back. |
Been away from this forum fora while but I've been making my way through Agito with the intention to finally finish it.
Episode 32: The Mana side plot has been kind of up and down. I like that she's finally getting developed, but it's kind of hammy how they are handling it. Especially Hikawa's "glass sculpture" mantra he picks up; that doesn't really go anywhere as far as I can see and it's more of a joke at his inability to do anything right than insight into Mana's situation. I am happy that Gills is back and about to tear up Orca unknown because Gills is mah boy and I'd been missing him. |

On topic, rewatching ryuki, just as good as I remember it, I should really get back to Kuuga and Hibiki though. |
I'm on episode 31 of Kiva. Wow, it sure got interesting with Mio as Queen. When Nago found out Wataru was Kiva, there was no reaction at all which was really boring.
|
Kuuga 41. Nana's story. Well, it was kind of sad, but it wasn't tugging on any heartstrings.
Fish Grongi bites the dust (Also is a complete coward by targeting the elderly and children), and the episode ends with a mystery man stepping out the shadows. Mhmm. |
I just started watching Kuuga. It's okay so far. It's kind of boring and a little too old for me.
|
Good luck...
