It's not that she's had some bad stories (like, say, her current role in Civil War II from what I've seen), it's that the really bad stories were my first exposure to the character and those are what created my primary impression of her. I've read some reasonably decent stuff that featured Carol Danvers, but to me she's always going to be the asshole who tried to fly to the moon drunk and beat up Spider-Woman while her daughter watched.

That's a different argument. You just now showed you have indeed read other stories with good portrayals. AKA, something that I personally won't consider petty. People still give Hank Pym shit for slapping his wife iirc, and Reed Richards also has similar treatment

Or the comics that revealed Wolverine was a cruel sadistic bastard before he lost his memories, Or the times the Avengers treated Hank Pym and the Scarlet Witch like scum because of actions they did under the effects of a full psychotic breakdown*Avengers and comics in general have a very bad history in how they treat mental illness*, or Iron Man's douchebaggery in the Civil War and Superior Iron Man story lines, or Professor X being revealed as a Pedophile who routinely mindwiped his students after sending them on morally questionable missions, Almost everything to do with the X-Men in the last decade, Ultimate Reed Richards, Spider Man being almost entirely responsible for the creation of Venom by cruelly abandoning a benevolent symbiote because he was afraid of it, Rogue leaving Gambit to die in a frozen wasteland, Cyclops abandoning his wife and son for his ex etc.

A big selling point of SFV was that all DLC was technically free (Technically because you have to earn it via in game currency. However, considering that, prior to DLC being a common thing, unlocking characters in fighting games was basically hours of grinding through either impossibly difficult modes or winning battles to get points to unlock them, it's not really them holding out on you).

For the X-Men and FF being DLC, I don't mind. If it means fewer odds of running into the cheese tastic Dr. Doom online, then I'm all for it. Fuck that character. Cheap ass piece of shit.
I'm more curious if we'll actually get the FF, though. I'd much rather them bring back Super Skrull and add the Silver Surfer (How he'll fight with his long board, I dunno).

Concerning the X-Men, I have to admit: I'm not really that broken up. Because the franchise started with an X-Men fighter, and the first crossover was X-Men vs SF, the roster has always been bloated by them. Deadpool would be a big loss, though, and no amount of Gwenpool would fill that void.
