HeartCatch 37:
Well, that got real Persona 4 real fast. Who designed this castle? Nyarlethortep? :lol I feel it was done better there, since they faced themselves before they worked out all their problems, but I guess the point of the test was to see if they truly changed. The subtitles kind of messed up, since the characters said "Kage no Jibun" and the subtitles translate it to "Your evil self" yet "Kage" means shadow not evil, and they called a planet a star. "Hoshi" can refer to any celestial body. This Japanese lesson has been brought to you by the letter "き". I liked this episode though. it worked in Persona 4, it works here. |

Everything else just looks so well...anime. It all looked so generic I had to reread some of the descriptions at points because I swore they added something twice or more. |

Alright time for the final episode of Kill la Kill. It was pretty much the most Kill la Kill way for this show to go out, between Ryuuko and Senketsu stealing the show and everything else being garbled and barely coherent.
Overall, the biggest problem with Kill la Kill is hype. Obviously a fandom should never impact a series, but it's hard for it not to. Right now this show is EVERYWHERE and people are excited, and when people get excited they get silly. There are people saying hilarious things like "It's better than TTGL!" or "It's a bona fide masterpiece!" which paints your expectations going in whether you mean it to or not. And with expectations so high going in, Kill la Kill just doesn't live up to anything, it's a perfectly average series which draws a lot of attention to itself by being so bombastic. So bombastic that it eventually starts trying to out bombast its own ridiculousness and as the animation budget seemed to go down the toilet about a quarter of the way through action fatigue set in early, and it set in hard. Ryuuko is a fantastic protagonist, and the way her character plays off of everyone else is the highlight of the show - especially Senketsu and Satsuki (who has an interesting, but drawn out and unnecessarily convoluted character arc) but between that, and the awesome soundtrack, there really isn't a whole lot else worth mentioning. It was just perfectly okay. Not a new favourite, but not really horrible enough in any regard for me to hate it, it might be something I pick out of the bargain bin in like a decade to watch with a few beers or something. |

Personally, all I'm interested in is the Precure movie. |
