A lot of fans hated Episode 1-3. So fans like to go by "If it sucks then let's retcon it and make sure it never happens". A lot of franchises tend to do that like Superman, Highlander, X-Men and possibly Alien too.

And that is the problem with prequels in general. People have this imagination of what happened and showing them exactly what happened is going to be completely different, and as such, they dislike it.

It's not like the acting in the originals were all that stellar either.

Like I have said, there are things I find in the prequels that redeem them. The Darth Maul fight with Duel of Fates playing. The marching of the clone armies in the second movie and Anakin slaughtering the Sand people. In the third movie I love the music to the opening battle, the Order 66 scenes, the opera scene between Palpatine and Anakin (not to mention it is the only time in the prequels that truly builds on the mythos of Star Wars), the marching on the Jedi temple (Anakin looks so damn badass), and the fights between Obiwan, Anakin, Palpatine, and Yoda. Oh, and I love the light saber choreography between all three movies because that is the one area where the OT was lacking.

To the other question, in 2006 Fox released the Star Wars trilogy on DVD individually and included bonus DVD discs with Laser disc converted to DVD copies of the untouched trilogy.

Well my friends who had never seen Star Wars saw episode 2 and thought it was crap. Then they saw episode 4 and they liked it.

The prequels suffered many problems beyond expectation. They suffered boring characters and boring stories. Plus the CGI did not age well at all. Kassyhk looks more like it belongs in an older video game.

Maybe not Oscar material, but none of the original cast were prequel levels wooden.

They definitely did have some redeeming qualities, but overall they're hated for reasons well beyond just not living up to expectations and it shouldn't have taken a 6 season TV series to patch up most of the plot holes.

I will agree there with everyone except Fisher in the first one. God damn she was awful at first. Thankfully she got much better for ESB.

I will agree, but there are people who don't like them for living up to what they perceived to be the origin story.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if it is. It's time to stop marketing Leia as some sex slave and actually release things of her when she was actually doing stuff.

I would welcome more Commando or Bounty Hunter Leia merch.
