Its pretty much the same as when you say "Moviey from the 80s". In Japan when you use the Period terms to refer to the time people instantly know which timeframe those movies/shows are from. And in terms of Rider it pretty much replaces the words Old and New. When thes use Showa Rider in the movie the audience especially Kids instantly know that those heroes are old. And not just six years ago old but more in the sense of "before you were even born" old. |

And the distinction of who they were created by is why I think they should follow a different distinction for the "Showa" riders. I am glad that sentai doesn't have that problem. Liveman started during the Showa era and ended in the Heisei era, but is considered a Showa season, which is understandable.
