Well no. Ryuki resets the world so that the war never happened, it never had to happen. Dairanger just makes it a big continuous circle. War lasts forever so the sacrifices and triumphs of the Dairangers mean nothing in the end. It just repeats itself.

Not entirely. If it hadn't been for the Dairangers, Dairyuujin would have destroyed the entire world. They prevented that, even if the war with the Gouma is still unfinished.

Reading up on some random trivia, I didn't know Sasuke and Tsuruhime (Well, their actors) cameo'd in Goseiger. Neat.

Honestly, both ending are very insulting. Either ending tells you the show was pointless and didn't matter.

Well, I have not watched OOO, but in this case, the monster is not very bright. He is made from a combination of various trash items, is dim and clumsy, and always hungry. Eiji (Boukensilver) takes pity on him and doesn't destroy him because he is not a threat. Later, the monster becomes super intelligent by eating the Fruit of Knowledge (the MacGuffin for this episode). After becoming smart, he quickly disassociates with the Dark Shadow organization. Eiji sees this and they talk about using the monster's brain to help the world, so they go to the Boukengers.

There, the Boukengers want to take the Fruit of Knowledge (since it would be dangerous in the wrong hands). The monster takes this as an affront and leaves, calling humans foolish. He then considers that to save the Earth he must show humans the result of their foolishness, so he starts a storm of trash from the skies to bury the city, and destroys a power plant, saying that humans wastefully "light the dark and cool the summer." When Eiji tries to stop him, the monster detains him and gives him a magic seal as the "mark of their friendship."

The monster is then attacked by his former mates in Dark Shadow, and forced into becoming a rampaging giant. Eiji uses his meka to fight him without hurting him, but when he shows him the seal of their friendship, the spell triggers and destroys the monster -- he had given the seal to his friend Eiji in case he ever lost control. Eiji is suitably forlorn at having killed his friend.

The epilogue shows that the formerly smart monster is back to being simple-minded. The spell was designed to break Dark Shadow's control of him and make it look like he was destroyed. Eiji tells him to go live in the forest in peace.

Like I said, I thought it was very well done for a story that still managed to fit in a giant robot fight, albeit a short one.

That was my favourite episode of Boukenger, and easily my favourite of that kind of episode from any Super Sentai.

All right, I just completed ZyuRanger. I cannot say anything more beyond what I have already said about this show, but it was great to see it all subbed after 10 years of watching it raw.

Saw the newest episode of Go-Busters. Haven't seen anything else from the series, but I liked the episode.

BTW, did MCS ever sub beyond episode 7 of AbaRanger? I'm going through my files of all of the series before Gobuster and trying to figure out if the group is still working on the series I have that are incomplete, and if not, just deleting the series off of my HDD.

I mean, it seems like only Over-Time, GrownUpsInSpandex, and TV-Nihon are actively working on series.

Nope, although they've just put out a v2 of the Dekaranger vs Abaranger movie. Whether this means any new episodes are on the cards though is anyone's guess. Harorangers just put out a new Carranger though, and Hi No Tori are making good progress with Gingaman even if it is sporadic.

Watched a few more episodes of Zyuranger. Usually I try not to compare a Sentai series to its Power Rangers counterpart when watching but here its difficult, simply because the differences are so fascinating.

I always thought King Sphinx was awesome in MMPR but sorely underused, so its great to see DoraSphinx had a much bigger role here. Its still my favourite MOTW design to date and I'd love to see it get a Figuart or something one day. But since that's unlikely, I should probably track down that old 5" figure.

Yeah, DoraSphinx is definitely one of my favorites. I'd say my top five favorite MOTW designs from Zyu are DoraSphinx, DoraKnight, SatanFranky, DoraLandon, and DoraMinotaurus.

BTW, I also watched episodes 31-35 of Go-Busters, and while they were definitely an improvement over the previous 22 episodes, they still were not all that great. I do like Lioh though. However, Enter is an even bigger bad ass now and he is still running away from battle too quickly. I have a feeling he is going to actually become Messiah at the end, but we'll see.

I wrote this as I watched Akiba episode one.

Akagi is like Gai. If you took a straw and sucked Gai dry of humor, personality, and charm. And I don't know what serious mental problem he has but I'm pretty sure it was caused by the same mushrooms that brought about Katamari Damachi. And I am really going to hate this theme song. Usually I lve anything cutesy and japanese... but dear Gosei.
-facepalms- and now we get to Moegi. Do they not have proper medication in Japan? .. And now Mitsuki. Rounding out the trio with seriousness and teddy bear panties.

.. This show does eventually get better right?

The running joke about him liking Sentai and Aoi at 29 is wearing really thing, really damn quick. I can tell you that. And my constant thought so far is "How exactly did this get a second season?"

Sentai, I love AkibaRanger, but I thought the first two episodes were okay. It was the third episode that truly got me into the show. Even today I still find myself having a hard time staying focused on the first two.

Yeah, it took me until about the third episode to really get Akibaranger, too. Maybe even the fourth. I know the delusion angle was a big hurdle for me to get over, at least until the awesomely heartwarming episode with Yumeria's mom.

Kind of, sort of...no, not really. It gets a bit better once there's real danger, but nothing I'd call good.

That is a shame as you are missing out on a great series. Far better than Gao, Hurri, Deka, Magi, Bouken, Shinken, Go-On, Gosei, and Go-Bust combined. It's like a more adult version of CarRanger. Hell, it has similar concepts such as the actress playing the villain girl was a former porn star and makes fun of Japanese culture.

Yea, no. None of that is a good enough reason for me to sit through another episode of that. I like my brain to much to have it commit suicide by Akibaranger.

Tell you what, Sentai, why don't you try this: skip ahead and watch episode 5 of Akibaranger. It's a fantastic episode that really successfully blends the show's humor with a strong emotional core. If you still want nothing to do with the show after that, I can promise you that I, at least, won't give you any grief for it.

I'll give it a try. But if it's anything like episode one, all it'll do is make my hate grow. Like a tree. A tree of Akiba-hate. With anger-fruits.

I think I'll watch episode one in Sentai's place.

... How much more? Cause as much as I want to see you sport some Gosei, there's only so much of Akiba I can take.

It has some of the same goofiness, but... totally blanking on Akibared's real name here... um, that guy isn't the focus as much in this one, it's more on Yumeria. Just keep in mind you need to see the full episode to get to the crowning moment of heartwarming. And it's worth it. I can't say it'll change your mind on the whole show, but if you only see one episode of Akibaranger I think it should be episode 5.
