Finally finished Doom 2016. What an utterly, well-designed game. There's LOADS of lore and story for you to discover if you want it or just ignore if you don't care. The secrets can lead to you getting weapons earlier than intended which really makes the MetroidVania fan in me squee, Mick Gordon's soundtrack was brilliant and the gameplay? Goddamn, so much FUN. Next games I'm planning on playing are the Travis Strikes Again DLC as I never got around to it when it came out and Bloodstained when it comes out on the 25th

Playing Super Mario Maker 2. Made a bunch of levels but after extensive criticism for some of them I had to pull them down and redesign to adjust. Maybe I overreacted for some of them based on one person's opinion but in some cases people found genuine problems with them like softlocks.
One level had to be redesigned twice because I could not find the best way to keep it user friendly and I also toned down the instant deathtrap on advice. I would share levels but I don't think there's any point unless anyone else here plays MM2. |
Today I finished Final Fantasy VII. So, a little bit of backstory: I own this game for about 20 years now. I got it with a bunch of other games alongside my first console, the Playstation.
I must have tried it as a kid, but tossed it aside because I had no clue what was going on. As a teen I got word of some legendary game that was supposed to be among the best ever made. And then there was a movie about it, a spin-off game (multiple in fact) and general hype all around. That was when I started digging through my box of old games and sure enough, there it was: Final Fantasy VII. At that point I was too intimidated to try it. Like, how can a game be this good? Also, JRPG’s kicked my ass back then so I was afraid I might get stuck somewhere. Back in the box. I bought the Steam version in a sale ages ago, never touched it. Then the remake is announced a couple of years back and I’m like "Whatever". But for some reason I was thinking "Just try it" 2 weeks ago and I did. I couldn’t stop playing. Right after the Bombing Run it clicked, I was addicted to this game. Yeah, it really is as good as most people say. When the end credits were rolling I had my original copy sitting on the desk next to me, it felt really good to finally finish it. |
I just finish completing Turok 1 on the Switch and the game is still pretty great. I always love how the game feels like one big adventure of you going to other realms fighting against Dinosaurs, Robots, and evil mutants. The remaster is better than the original given how there is no graphical slowdowns compare to the N64 version.
The only thing that didn't age well is how empty the game feels at time, but that's about it. I look forward to revisiting Turok 2 soon. I give Turok 1 an 8/10. |
Once my Oculus Go arrives tomorrow I’ll have to pick out some games to play on it.

Mario Oddyssey is a lot of fun. This is the first major Mario game that I've played since Mario Galaxy 1 on the Wii (I never played Galaxy 2 or Super Mario 3D World). So far, I do feel like this is the 3D Mario game that I have been waiting for after the N64 days.

Oddly enough despite not growing up with the game, playing it felt really nostalgic. |
I'm playing Final Fantasy VII on PS Classic and will be at the 2nd disk soon. Trying to level up and max out my Limit Breaks.
