Blame episode one. I'm sorry, but that was horrible.

I actually started getting into it by episode 3, but episode 5 is the one that sold me on the whole show and still stands as probably my favorite.

Well, I return from watching Akiba episode one (BTW, thanks for the link to that page Sentai). And in all out honesty, it was freaking hilarious and awesome. I don't get why you don't like it Sentai. It's comedic, it has some good action, it's a great sort of tribute to the previous Sentais. I mean regardless of your thoughts on it, I really loved and enjoyed it.

Eh, I can see why people wouldn't like it. Akibaranger is not a show that's going to work for everybody. It's really weird and you kind of need a compatible sense of humor and high tolerance for Japanesey weirdness and metafiction to really get into it. Personally, I really liked it, but I'll freely admit that I didn't care much for the first few episodes.

I guess Im just one of those people who got hooked from the first episode. That show really grabbed me at the beginning and only got better with each episode.

I know it has me wanting to watch more and more, and I've only seen one episode.

But whatever. Like I said, I did not care for the first two episodes of AkibaRanger and I still don't, but I can easily suffer through those since episode 3+ gets really good. I also love how the voice actor to One Piece's Franky is in this show. That was so awesome.

Okay. I watched Episode Five and.. yea. I still want nothing to do with Akibaranger, but I hate it a little less. Does that help? It had a few warming moments I enjoyed, but he is still so damn annoying I can't help but haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate him. So much.

It's fine. I personally couldn't see how someone could dislike the show, but whatever. Stupid opinions, always being different.

It just doesn't appeal to me. The only reason I'd watch is Akiba-Blue, and that's not a good enough reason in my book. The humor doesn't do it for me, Yellow and her cosplay wears thin. And the running joke about him being 29 and liking Sentai got old midway through the first-half of the first episode.

Like I said, it's not a show for everybody. You gave it a shot and that's what matters.

If nothing else I'll continue to stop badmouthing it.

So then, what are you going to watch next?

Probally going to end up watching more Go-Busters or changing completely and watching OhRanger. I've never seen them and I'm hoping it makes a little more sense than Zeo. Not that power Rangers Zeo was bad, just some of it was wtf.

Considering it has a scene where one of the female Rangers leads the giant mechs in aerobics I'm pretty sure it won't. :p

In all seriousness, though, as I understand it the show got pretty heavily retooled following the sarin gas attacks in the Tokyo subway. Ohranger was meant to be a throwback to the serious military Sentais of the 80s, but then the story got a lot lighter and sillier so it didn't freak out the kids.

Honestly, that makes me want to watch it more. There's a cultural significance to it...and giant robot aerobics just tickles me :lol

Plus, Ohranger has only 5 episodes subbed and the group has apparently vanished.



Boy am I glad Sentai stopped watching Akibaranger. I was about ready to offer to watch Goseiger if he spared himself Akibaranger. :p

Good luck with Ohranger. As in, good luck understanding it because even less of it is subbed than Kakuranger. Hopefully GUIS will pick it up once they finish one of the 3 1/2 shows they're working on.

The irony is people said they'd watch Goseiger if I watched Akibaranger. Last time I make that deal.

The first 7 were just released last week. GUIS & Hikari Senshi will be releasing them in small batches like that until they finish the series. I have to say that it strikes a nice balance of comedy and drama.

Sentai gave up on Akibaranger? Oh thank god, that means I can stop Goseiger. I watched episode 2 tonight. I liked it much better than the first, but still... so bland, so generic. It's like they scrubbed the series of any attempt at personality or individuality. GoseiRed is just a twerpy non-entity.

I can see why they're using it as the basis for a Power Rangers season. They don't have to dumb it down very much.

Honestly I thought better of it before I watched it. I see where the haters are coming from.

I tried episode five to give Akiba a chance. So watch, I think it's episode 15. The first appearance of Gosei Knight. And his awesome. If that doesn't convince you I don't think anything will.

This.I actually didn't mind Goseiger.(I haven't finished it yet,still on episode 27.lol) But I def agree,if Gosei Knight doesn't win you over,I don't know what will then.(Want an example of his attitude,think Kabuto.)

That payoff was well worth all the bland stuff I had to sit through.

Just finished both Abaranger and Goseiger.

Abaranger, what a nice ride of a series. Even with the faulty subs you could generally get the gist of whats being said so its fine. Just a nice set of characters I really got invested in. Ryouga was very likable, he was hyper but not too much. Yukito was cool. Ranru was charming, yes there were prettier heroines (Jasmine, Sakura, Mako) but Ranru holds her own. Asuka I loved the sub-plot between him and Mahoro and Lije. And Nakadai-sensei was just badass. The support characters were good too. Sugishita and Emiri were good helpers and Mai was the cheerful child to comfort the heroes. And Yatsudenwani has now replaced Jealoushitto as my favorite monster of all time, that croc made me crack up in the last few episodes. Lijewel was the bitch-villainess the series needed. And the finale left me very satisfied. The two-part final battle with Aba Red and Abare Blue fighting the mecha battle and Abare Yellow and Black fighting the Dark Armor was well done. And I love the reunion. Abaranger will be a season I know I'll rewatch again.

Now Goseiger, well it was ok, it wasn't as bad as some people say it is. It has its moments.My problem with the series was Alata. To me he was the weakest character of the show and hes red. I don't usually have the Red Senshi as my favorite in Sentai, except for Bouken Red, but he usually isn't my least liked either. So in Goseiger Agri and Moune were great, Hyde has his moments and even Eri I get (except for that horrible episode were she befriended a Matoroid, that was just bad) and Gosei Knight was cool and all but Alata I just found a rather bland. Even the last few episodes where his supposed to be heroic just fell flat unlike how epic I found Agri's fight with Kingugon or Hyde facing Brajira by himself. Well that's how I found it, not bad and I had a good time watching it anyway.

Convince me of what, though? I don't think Goseiger is bad, so much as bland. The main storyline as presented in the first couple episodes isn't terribly compelling - they are Earth's angelic defenders and want to be able to go back to their tower but can't, because of aliens. One good character won't necessarily save it from that - despite Beet and Stag in Go-busters I find that series fairly bland as well. I enjoy the moments they're in the show but it goes back to bland whenever they're not there.

Does Gosei Knight improve the overall storyline? I mean I'll give it a shot, but unless he's super awesome and he immediately kills GoseiRed and that annoying little kid and the show becomes Gosei Knight's Awesome Adventure Half Hour I don't see what he'll bring to it.

Episode 17 is Knight's first appearance.

And Gosei Knight is a pretty cool character. And considering he LITERALLY shows up out of nowhere, there isn't any plot or exposition you need to see beforehand to know where he came from :p
