I won't get impressions of him to you guys ASAP since he's gonna show up on Wedensday with a crap ton of people trying to download him all at once and crash the servers. And I have a big test that next day that'll tire me out so... don't expect impressions until friday

One of these days us normal folk will get to experience Mewtwo.
Maybe Nintendo won't be a total bitch and will release him early for poor folk like us.

I agree they should release it earlier for general consumer. But I have a theory....

Nintendo might be releasing Mewtwo early to former Club Nintendo members to test the reactions to timed exclusive access to content, maybe as a precursor some sort of PS+ type service. Pay $50 a year and get discounts on games and get DLC early. Considering Nintendo has already implemented monetizing everything besides potiental benefits to its online service, this may be a test.

So people have hacked into the data for Smash 3D's update and found some very interesting info.
Along with Mewtwo and Lucas there's also data hinting at two extra DLC Characters.

Wanna know what the kicker is? The data hints that these two characters are Roy and Ryu from Street Fighter.

Something tells me this is gonna be fun. :lol

Servers were actually completely agreeable and I even had to go through a system update and game update before I could download Mewtwo. :lol

And... He's Mewtwo. Exactly like Melee, based on what little I played of that. Probably faster though.

So people are getting upset over Mewtwo not having custom moves. I would understand people's complaints if dumb people like Trailer Drake would shut up about not wanting anymore DLC because of a lack of custom moves.

It happens specifically if you beat 10 man smash with all of the characters and then Mewtwo. So watch out.

First impressions of Mewtwo:

I've never played Melee so this is my first experience with him. And he's all sorts of weird. His air physics just don't... fit. It's hard to explain, but he sort of feels different with Smash 4's gravity compared to everyone else. And he is slow. And not slow in that kind of powerful way once his hits get off, I mean slow in an awkward way. And it also feels like I am controlling two different characters sometimes when he uses his tail for a lot of his tilts.

But I will probably get used to him and use him a bit when playing with my friends.

Thankfully, I don't really bother with those modes, so I am a little relieved that it requires such specific requirements.

Concerning Mewtwo, you're kind of spot on in how he played in Melee. Mewtwo was always an anomaly. A lightweight that moved like a heavy weight, a jump that moved him in a strange angle, floaty in the air, but feeling oddly slow. It's Mewtwo in a nutshell. His odd gameplay is kind of what made him unique. He's not a normal character with a strange gimmick, but just a strange character.

His only real downside (In terms of casual play) is that he's really not a "Pick up and play" kind of character.

That's... Oddly specific. Well i guess i just can't do 10 man smash with Mewtwo.

Side note i'm not sure if it's my imagination but Mewtwo seems a LOT easier to control in this game than it was back in Melee.

Really? I found him harder to control here. Then again, different game speeds and all that...

You sure? Because my fights in the past couple of hours have far surpassed my all time win record with the guy in Melee.

I downloaded the new Mii Fighter costumes today. I hope whatever causing the Mewtwo glitch doesn't apply to the costumes too.

Maybe you were just a bad Mewtwo player in Melee? :p

Oh well. Either way, I'll get the hang of playing him down soon enough~

So Nintendo is advising to stay away from any single player mode with a GSP in Smash on Wii U or 3ds until they work out a patch.

Fuck I used him in all-star mode, Home run and classic last night.

So i've been using Mewtwo a lot today, i hate to admit it. But man i think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship Mewtwo.

So just use him in Multiplayer? Got it, that's all i've been doing.

Well that's fine and dandy that the big N's working on a patch for Mewtwo, but is the DLC for the Mii Fighters safe to use?

I never got an answer back from anyone about it. I'd be pissed if those costumes corrupt my data.

I think the issue comes from the patch itself that is just triggered by Mewtwo.

I'm unsure if the Mii fighters costumes also trigger this.


There's a rumor going around that Mewtwo's custom specials are going to get patched in once he releases as paid DLC to everyone. The basis of it is that there are customs you can glitch into but don't work. Anyone think this is legit?

It's possible, I guess. I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly if the Ryu leak turns out to be true i'm kind of hoping some of hi's alternate costumes are Ken and Dan and they make the narrator they're names.

+ Akuma, Evil Ryu, Sakura & Sean. Bonus points if they remember that Allen Snider exists.

Thankfully Capcom's laziness in character design gives a huge opportunity for lots of alternate costumes/colors.
