It's basically Black Hazard. I find it really neat. I love that it's an adapter - we get more playability with the toys and we get to see more variations on the suit since it'll be modular.
I can't wait to see what the RKF will come with. Hope it's more fun gimmicks. Saikou's shield is REALLY sick. I love it. RKF Saikou, if it actually comes with all the necessary parts, is going to be absolutely awesome lol I didn't think they could make him any more ridiculous, but one of his new forms is literally a shin and foot. |
I really like how primitive dragon is basically a fossil. Saikou's f9rm looks fine but I'm not sure about the "cell shading".

EDIT: So Saikou's new form is based on a comic book. Now THIS is something I can get behind. Primitive Dragon looks awesome, but the "Primitive Dragon" logo on the right shoulder kind of ruins it for me. |

I’ve felt like if they’re not so strict with the manufacture ad toys scan then we would of learn about the whole quarter last year instead of slowly spoiled by the final tv magazine product every last week of each and every month Last scan looks like lion senki was absorb in to his chest. One of the silhouettes was very clearly Mumeiken Kyomu. Additionally, there were two further silhouettes, for a grand total of eleven. |
So, that is what the new Wonder Ride Books will look like. That X-Swordsman one seems interesting, but also the Primitive Dragon. That is especially interesting that it will be like Black Hazard, but the adapter thing kind of reminds me of the Cross-Z Dragon/Magma Knuckle/Grease Perfect Kingdom/Blizzard Knuckle. I especially like everything about these designs. The Comic Book Aesthetic of Kamen Rider Saikou's X-Swordsman Form is great. He liked comic books so much, he wanted to become them.

Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book: "Shabadoobie touch to henshin! Shabadoobie touch to henshin! ...." :lol

Something I realized about Primitive Dragon.

This also explains why the RKF release is coming out an entire month after Saikou - possibly even later. Maybe the figure will have a trick or two up its sleeve. Dragon of the Stars and the new emblem aren't entirely out of the question. Not sure about both a new emblem AND a new Wonder Ride Book, but it's one of the two, for sure. |
I'm down on Primal Dragon if only because it looks less "Murderous Machine" like Build and Zero-One and more so... Feral.
Like how FangJoker and Putotyra were. |
Something funny I'm asking now :
Saikou is pen/comic based with yellow color Kamen Rider Shinobi is a purple ninja from 2021/2022 ? Build NinninComic is a best match with these exact same themes/colors Please make them meet :D |

that wasn't the direction I was expecting things to go

Wait a minute.
I was translating the name of Reika Shindai and if you separate the 2 pieces of her last name, Shin and Dai (the Full word meaning "Bed"), you get "Sleeper" via Google Translate. 寝台 vs 寝 台. This is raising my inner Matthew Patrick (MatPat from Game Theory, Film Theory, etc). Sleeper, as in "Sleeper Agent"? And if you write "Reika" like this 零下, this means "Below Zero". Interesting. Food for Speculation. |

Hmm, Interesting.
Comic book Saikou looks really good to me. He just attaches his face to the Shadow, and moves it around his body! That's crazy and I love it. I find Primitive Dragon fascinating. I like it so far, but I need to see more of it to really "get" it. Does that make sense? |

There's a lot I like about Primitive Dragon. One thing I don't think has been pointed out yet is how the opened book shows Saber's body and right arm, just like Brave Dragon and all the other mythical beast WRBs. It's a small detail that doesn't really matter, but I still think it's neat that they managed to keep that aspect consistent even with such an unconventional design.

I really like what Primitive Dragon does. It really does look like a dragon guarding its hoard.
Though, Primitive Dragon basically turning Touma into a villain instead of it just being a berserk form would be an interesting difference. As one of the images shows the Primitive Dragon form with the Lion Senki Wonder Ride Book, I almost think that Primitive Dragon is a book made by a third party. Maybe Reika Shindai will be a Twist Villain. That would be fitting, considering that she basically said, "If you won't join my group, you don't deserve to be in Sword of Logos." Something tells me that he, in Primitive Dragon form, will have the task of collecting all of the Wonder Ride Books. Because the Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book leans a bit more "Alter Ride Book". |
I love how Saikou Shadow is so cool in an understated way in its design, whereas Saikou X-Swordsman is so cool in an over-the-top way in its design. Cannot wait for the SHFs for them (hopefully they'll do a Evol Phase 1.2.3 release where you can swap parts, but that would be kinda tough to pull off I think for one SHF). I also appreciate that they show why there's a "sword page" for Kin no Buki Gin no Buki.
Saber Primitive Dragon is fantastic, too, I love the look of how the torso armor is a skeletal dragon clutching whatever WRB is inserted into the Primitive Dragon WRB (which is also great, I love how it's an adaptor), and that it can actually work with any other WRB (though I don't think we'll see him use too many WRBs with it, since it'd probably necessitate too many variants that it'd be impractical). |
What if Saikou's alternate forms become powerups for our other Saber characters when they inevitably working together? I could see Buster using Saikou as a shield and as unlikely as they are to actually team up, I could see Kenzan using Saikou as a leg.
The thought just occurred to me after seeing pictures for the RKF release and realizing you could actually easily do that, due to how the ports work. |
Though, in all comedy, Reika Shindai basically said "Red sus", and everyone else believed her. It took White to vote against her, Blue, Yellow, Black, Pink (Magenta), and Lime/Green. Purple was already voted out and Orange isn't even in the game. You can probably guess who each color represents.

Is anyone else kind of confused by Saikou's color scheme? The yellow I understand because of his golden motif, and red and purple are based on the comic book hero, but they could have made the comic book hero any colors, so why red and purple? And why on earth is the WRB lime green and orange!?
It is interesting that the X-Swordman on the cover is styled like a samurai instead of like the comic hero. And it's a left-slot WRB, so I wonder what mythical creature it's based on... I know Japanese folklore has a whole class of youkai based on living objects (tsukumogami), are any of those based on swords or samurai armor? |
Quote:
and i'd argue that the samurai is more based around a westerner's idea of what a samurai would be like, like the silver samurai from the marvel comics |

A lot of old super heroes and cartoon character colors were dictated on random stuff like the cost of the ink for the comic or colors on the action figure.
For example, the original Gundam was mostly all white and it was changed to Red, Yellow, and Blue both because those colors would make it more interesting to children, and because those were common colors used in toy manufacturing. Bright nonsensical colors were synonymous with comic book heroes because it helped them stand out on the page. I don't think there's too much to read into it here. Like why was Nin-nin/Comic purple and yellow? It's just part of the design language of Kamen Rider. |

EDIT: Just realised X-Swordman seems to be a larger book and so might not fit into Gekido/Hayate/Suzune, which sadly makes this less likely... hey, maybe it will actually fit, or maybe they'll say "eh, you can't do it with the toys but what the hell let's do it in the show" |
Though, I just realized 1 thing. That the Dragon on the Cover of "Primitive Dragon" bears a striking resemblance to the Dragon/Ice Pokémon of the Unova region, Kyurem.
https://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/c/c3/646Kyurem.png https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ka...20210128193635 See? The resemblance is uncanny. Edit: The image didn't load, so here is the link https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ka...20210128193635 |
Considering how Saikou's X-Swordsman form is basiccally Saikou Sahdow but with colorful comic panels swapped all over the place, it makes sense why RKF Saikou is so darn expensive (4180 yen).
That being said, with all the parts-swapping Figuarts has been doing recently, I can't help but wonder if the SHF Saikou will come with parts-swapping ability to create X-Swordsman and Saikou Shadow. |
