Damn. Missed it. Was checking Hobby Search, but looking for Macher. They listed it as Ride Mach. Well, back to the AmiAmi waiting game. At least I'll save some shipping :/. It's been some night. I should stop trying to get riders with their bikes.

Metal Build Astray Gold is my most wanted item out of tonight's preorders, so of course it's the one thing I can't manage to get. It's sold out within seconds on every site, as far as I can tell.

I hope to god I can somehow secure one for myself. It's one of my top Gundam designs and it's never had any merchandise outside of a single old model kit.

So, AmiAmi didn't reopen Macher at 4 like they did Ride Chaser. Damn. What's the latest they might reopen? How late can this go? Am I already dead?

Looking more and more like Manarake is going to be my only choice and that fact sucks so much.

Sailor Venus reissue and the Frozen Figuarts hit hard too. It's the worst it's been in quite a while for new releases, so I'm surprised it wasn't worse. Things were spread across quite a few different fanbases there too.

Whew, FINALLY! I managed to get in a preorder for the friggin' Astray Gold Frame. Now I can go get some sleep. Between having to wake up early to get to Target at opening to get a Rosalina Amiibo today, and staying up late to get these preorders in, I'm finally due for a nice night of sleep.

I'm looking to get Tridoron, Formula and maybe (probably) Drive's final form. Could see going for a Mashin upgrade or Mach upgrade, but those will probably be Web-Shop exclusives anyway. Happy I probably will never have to do the two figures in one night thing again as that was hell for both Mashin and Mach.

haha oh my god I was asleep. I just managed to get myself Mach though, his bike though seems to be closed hope it opens up again later. But argh godammit I missed out on D-Arts Zero....

Don't know if anyone's still looking for Mach at this point, but he's up on AmiAmi again, I just grabbed one. No bike though.

Holy shit! Because my horrible headache I went to bed early last night and didn't expect Mach to go up at all. Not the usual day of the week and all.. :(

I happened to be checking AmiAmi for Amiibo just now and thank goodness he was in stock again as I did.

I ended up being up so I did end up preordering Mach and his bike, but now I'm kind of wishing I hadn't.

I don't think you'll have too much trouble selling it.

So, let's say I'm a newbie collector. And let's say I would like to get a figuart. Where would you, the good people of tokunation, suggest I start?

What do you like? If you're going to take the plunge, it might as well be with a series you're fond of. :D

Blade, Gaim, Hibiki and ZO are pretty good figures to start with.

Anything thing from the Ryuki line. It's the most solid and best line of Figuarts in my honest opinion. However really if there's a Figuart of a character you really like, no matter the show or if it's an older SHF, just get that one. Nothing wrong with that.

You really can't go wrong with anything from the Ryuki line. Specifically, I would recommend Zolda. He looks cool, he's affordable compared to some of the other Ryuki figures, and he has a great set of accessories. The Blade and Gaim lines are excellent as well.

Pick a series/design you like and grab one from it. While older figures aren't as good as modern ones, most of them hold up really damn well with just a few minor issues. The only thing I would say outright avoid is Double CycloneJoker, as the big rumor is he'll be getting a renewal soon.

If you want a specific suggestion, then I'd say look at Hibiki or Renewal Kabuto. Both were special, even more premium releases that turned out beautifully. Still really want to grab both myself some day.

There are obvious variables that will affect what you're looking for, like if you have a favorite show or character already (or loathe others).

Speaking just to things like suit aesthetics & quality (my entrance to Figuarts...I still haven't watched many of the shows these figures come from, so my main focus is typically "Do I like this suit or not?"), the Ryuki Figuarts are close to the gold standard for Figuarts. They hold up excellently and are a series in no need of "renewal" versions. The only catch is many are farther from their initial release dates and most recent figures have been exclusives, so it won't be cheap to pick some up. Ryuki/Zolda/Knight/Odin, thanks to contract monsters and/or a shitton of accessories, help make the price you pay either worth it (for Zolda, Odin and Ryuki) or sort of worth it (Knight, who's shot up dramatically and is in dire need of a re-release).

Beyond that...the Gaim Figuarts are also almost uniformly excellent, but Bluefin has only now received the license to import them and even then it would only be figures released at retail anyways.

Blade's Figuarts are fun and excellent quality and it's a series where all the rider's main bikes have been released (two retail, two exclusive).

If you're into Showa Riders, they've released or announced a few two-packs containing a re-release of their previous (retail) release plus their bike. If you've missed one, it'd be helpful to track one of those two-packs down or wait for one to be announced (Super 1, ZX and others haven't had their bike two-packs go up for preorder yet).

The recent fancy-pants Shinkocchou Seihou part of the Figuarts line (Kabuto, Hibiki) are also top notch.

Anything not on that list is great. The OOO, W, and Fourze SHFs are hit or miss though. Anything else, be it Ryuki, Gaim, or anything in between, is fantastic.

Agito Burning has the shoulder issue two. Hopefully the upcoming re-release will fix the issue, but people should stay away from the initial release.

It's proportions are off, it has only 2 set of hands, and it's a terrible way to be introduced to the SHF line.

Exactly. I'd say start with either Shin Ichigo or Shin Nigo but I'm biased.

Buy a Ryuki figuart and forever fall in the rabbit of hole of must obtaining all ryuki figuarts.

It doesn't stack up well to newer figuarts. Lack of accessories, some pretty crucial ones IMO, as someone said some pretty poor proportions (especially considering Agito isn't as armored as later Riders so it hurts the figure anymore) and Agito is more than likely next on the to-do list for a renewal figure, so the older figure is likely going to be obsolete.

Trust me, once you start, your wallet will not survive.
