Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods

I quite enjoyed it. I was surprised by how much humor was in it. I expected it to be super serious. Beers is probably my favorite DBZ antagonist, and I'd happily buy a Figuart of him if Bandai ever makes one. That final fight scene was fantastic. I still think that Super Sayian god sucks, since it's just Goku with red hair, and less muscle mass. I'm really confused as to whether or not this makes GT non-cannon, as Pilaf and co. are kids, but Goku NEVER went Super Sayian 4. So, yeah once I can afford it, I'll likely but the Blu-Ray or DVD.

I think GT is view as another timeline in the series similar how DB Movie 1-4 and DBZ Movies 1-13 are. Fans view the main continuity of Dragon Ball anything created and written by Toriyama. So the manga, Battle of Gods, Revival of F and possibly Super (depending how much story that Toriyama puts in) can be view as canon while everything else seems to take place in their own time lines.

However Dragon Ball has no official canon, so it always ends up in big debates and causes flame wars. Toriyama views the older movies as “stories in a different dimension from the main story of the comic”. That's most likely the older DBZ movies never fit into the timeline of the anime and manga.

Battle of Gods isn’t interfering with GT because it sets before the manga ends, Dragonball GT follows after. The thing with Prince Pilaf & gang could wind itself up, they do get the Dragonball back together and wish themselves older again, ending up as elders like they appear in GT.

But it doesn’t matter anyways, GT is a different universe-thing now. The only real canon is the manga as far as I know, everything else can be considered sidestorys or "What if?"'s.

I fully agree with you on Beerus, he's the best thing that happened to the franchise in quite some time and for me he carried the whole movie by himself. I really need a SHF of this guy too.

I don't see why people don't just say that the Anime and the Manga are their own separate canons.

It wS all ready confirmed GT was non cannon before this film but this film confirmed it confirmed it that GT has been Retconned and Non cannon.

Also do t forget yo son goku and his friend return special class as cannon Akira write the story for the anime special but not the manga adaption.

That's how I view the series. However you have fans that feel like that everything should exist in their own timelines. Putting everything DB related into one universe is like putting every Kamen Rider show and movie into one universe. You will get one major massive headache trying to do that. None of the old DBZ movies can fit into the timeline expect the Bojack movie and Wrath of the Dragon. The first Coola movie almost fits but Gohan's tail, Goku not able to teleport and Goku not going SSj until the last minute ruins it from fitting.

A new DBZ TCG? Great a NEW thing to collect.

A new manga scan of Super. Nothing new since it list down the villains of Dragon Ball despite Pilaf, General Red and Golden Freeza not being listed down.

I hope this new villain is not another Android or Saiyan. I feel like that those two are over done in my opinion.

It would be nice to get a Namekian villain again. Would give Piccolo a reason to be important in the story.

Aren't Namekians really weak in continuity?
