Awesome news today. Someone over at the tokufans board (formerly HJU's media matrix) found the HK subs for Kamen Rider X. The grammar is atrocious, but they work well enough to give you an idea of what's going on. X Rider is probably the one show I haven't fully seen yet that I want to finish the most, so I am totally going to watch these HKs.

:lol I bet those are gonna be pricelessly funny. I can safely say I've never seen any X ever. I want to but when it comes to Showa riders I'd like to watch as much of one show as possible at a time. And considering just how long most Showa series are I guess I'll be waiting for some time.

On episode 17 of Blade, finally the story picks up and that Remote card is freaking op ..

Honestly, for me the real challenge of watching Showa era Rider isn't the length, it's the more episodic nature. Very few of these shows have much in the way of long-running plot arcs, which can make it harder to build up the momentum to sit through several episodes in a row. I marathoned the hell out of Agito when I first watched it, but I don't think I've ever seen more than two episodes of a Showa series in one sitting. That said, a lot of those done-in-ones from the Showa era are really great and fun. If you want to try taking a whack at the Showa era I'd definitely recommend Black. It's fully subbed and it has a little bit of an ongoing story arc, although it doesn't do a great job of pacing it well. It has a great star, though, some excellent action scenes, and a killer soundtrack. |

I've only watched the first couple so far (7 and 8, the batch torrent has the OoZ fansubs for 1-6) and they are pretty understandable. The grammar is very, very, very bad, but it's passable enough that you can understand the general meaning. |
Finished ep 29 of Blade, Hajime's double :lol
|
Still watching Kabuto. I'm not very far though, they just introduced the.. Dragonfly... guy. And the site I was using frizted. Still though, a very good series.
|
I'm already up through episode 14 of X Rider. I've seen a lot of Showa era series, especially the early stuff, and this is already shaping up to be my second favorite after Black. HK sub issues aside, this is a really, really great show.

Just got upto PuToTyra's debut in OOO. Dayum.
One very minor thing I have with it though....as cool as the gun looks I don't think it fits with the look of the combo at all. |
Finished Ryuki. Another enjoyable series. I almost cried when Shinji died. Up next: Faiz.

Just finished OOO (Well, the episodes anyway. I still have All Riders, Wonderful and Megamax to watch). Fantastic show, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did W or Fourze. Birth completely stole the show for me though, Date is definitely my new favourite secondary rider.
The few problems I had with it were minor, but did add up a bit for me. The gain a medal/lose a medal thing was interesting at first, but got boring about halfway in and made the mid-episodes lag a bit. I didn't really like how Mezool and Gamel were pretty much sidelined for the entire thing either, Mezool's only roles really being a girl and to go crazy. Maki's doll got on my nerves a few times too, mostly because after an awesome scene of Ankh fighting and then saving Eiji we're treating to Maki flopping about in the water and then saying "Bob Marley" a few minutes later. Kinda killed the moment for me. All in all I enjoyed it though and am looking forward to checking out the rest of the films. |
OOO really is a wonderful show. Weird quirks aside I'm still one of those odd people who liked it better than W. W (as a series) always felt boring and slow to me and OOO had a ton of life and personality to it. Including Maki and his ridiculous evil doll :lol
However I must be like the only person whose ever watched that show and DIDN'T like Date. He was alright but from the very first episode Gotou was being groomed to be the 2nd rider. So when Date showed up out of nowhere and got the belt I found him to be a huge annoyance. I like him just fine as Proto-Birth because it's always nice to see a teritiary rider but to be honest I could have done without him. |

I sometimes feel I'm the only person that had serious problems with the doll gimmick. |

I really liked it as a character trait but all the comedy with it was either completely mistimed or ruined his credibiity as a threat. |

Speaking of OOO, just wondering, is the movie in-canon with the series & do I have to watch it at a certain point like "A to Z"?
|
Finished Blade, great ending. But why didn't they released Shima (King of Clubs) and THEN defeat the King of Diamond. I think it was kinda stupid that they only tried that after Joker won.
