"Civil War comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe early...well sorta. Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt purposed a little wager to Captain America star Chris Evans via Twitter over which team will win the this years Super Bowl. If Pratt's team the Seattle Seahawks win the big game then Evans must dress up as Captain America and visit the Seattle Children's Hospital waving the 12th man flag. If Evan's New England Patriots win then Pratt must dress up as Star-Lord and visit the Christopher's Haven, a nonprofit that provides supportive housing for families whose children are receiving outpatient pediatric cancer treatments in Boston, MA. Here is how the challenge went down."

Heck, both of them dressing up no matter the result wouldn't surprise me. :lol |
Could we just take a moment and talk about how awesome the new Ant-Man book is? I really wasnt expecting this one to turn out so good as it did. The 4.99 were a great investment and its really rare to see a mainstrem superhero comic that does not have a single fight scene in it.

And it's fine...
But their reasoning really rubs me the wrong way. "Kids today don't know Venom was a villain so let's just ignore that and keep making him look more heroic." Just incredibly disrespectful to all the work put into him as a villain... And he's always been one of my favorite Spidey villains and I'll always think of him as that monster. But it looks like they never want that aspect to show up again. |
Which I think is alot better for what the character actually represents now.
Venom hasnt been a Villain for ages and since Flash took over the symbiote they pushed him more and more into a heroic direction. Especially now that the symbiote that once posessed Brock is now nolonger there after this weeks issue of Guardians. |

This simply is due to Flash's development in the comics. The new suit is sleek, though personally I prefer the miltary one. |

Sorry, but I just want Venom to be Venom again. The initial character as a „lethal protector“ with a little bit of silly craziness was the best the character was ever at. After that, it watered down drastically for me. He started eating people and was a freakin monster, then he becomes some kind of super-agent. That's not Venom for me.
I acknowledge that the Agent Venom comics are really good, but I still can't accept how they mangled Venom, or Symbiots in general. I mean just look at what a freaking mess this is with all the Symbiotes. Anti-Venom was an interesting concept that was never properly developed and got killed of too quickly. And they killed poor old Mulligan just so they can give Brock a Symbiot. Again. Which isn’t really doing anything. Last time I saw him he made peace with Flash and that's it. The new costume looks stupid, like something Ben 10 would turn into. First they killed of Venom's most defining look, the sharp-toothed mouth with the big tongue, and now they kill the last thing that was left of the face? It looks ass. I guess I'll still have to wait for the reboot, when Brock somehow ends up with the Symbiot again and is just being an anti-hero again. |

Only with Flash Thompson as Venom did they finally manage to make Venom a character again and not just a gimmick. Flash has a personality you can actually work with and tell stories in the long run that are actually worthwhile. With Brock you never had that. they tried to move that character forward and never could. Thats why that character fell into the background becuase they just couldnt manage to keep that guy relevant in any form. |

Venom is still Spider-Man's shadow, but now on a more personal level, and of course, the psychotic tendencies of the Symbiote are still hidden inside. if it's not for you that's okay, but it's a really good change for the character. |

If you really see just the old clicheed Thomspon in this than I really cant help you. |
The main problem I have with this character is that they heavily reused traits from other characters to make him work. Remember Tiny? They carbon-copied the whole “alcoholic father I'm starting to drink too”-thing from a character that admittedly was similar to Flash, but still. I liked the idea of Flash changing and going to the army back then, because it was interesting that the same dude he always gave a hard time actually changed his life without him knowing it. But now he is a character that just isn't working for me, partially because of the whole “I'm Spider-Man kinda but in the end I'm Black Spider-Man with guns and call myself Venom”-thing. The character just isn’t doing anything interesting for me.
And I still don't see why he needs to be Venom. He could have any super-power or magical/technological gizmo and the outcome would still be the same. I know what they’re going for because of the relationship of Peter and Flash and because Spider-Man was a big part of Flash's life, but it’s just not working for me. Venom needed the change, and if they ever do a reboot they should cut the majority of pointless Symbiots and rework the concept. Until then I guess I'll have to wait for Toxins own series. |
I really liked the version of Eddie Brock presented in "The Spectacular Spider-Man", ie- a glimpse at what Peter would've been like without growing up in a loving environment & learning the kind of life morals that would eventually make him an effective superhero.

But since I don't read the comics, not like my opinion matters to anyone here... Just nostalgia speaking for my interest in the old Venom I guess. |

On the Klyntar homeworld the symbiote got integrated again into the hivemind and is now 100% in symbiosis with Flash Thompson. So Flash has now full control over the symbiote. |

Thank god I haven't read this, I would have thrown that comic into trash immediately. |

You know they can depict Symbiots as a peaceful and somewhat noble race and make Venom and his kin the black sheep of the family, that's fine with me, since the Venom Symbiot was in a prison cell for a reason. But guardians of piece and order in the galaxy? That's just dumb.
And that' the first thing that get's thrown under the bus when they reset the universe, since then nobody will care from which planet the thing comes from. |

Thats what Marvel want the symbiotes and especially Venom to be from now on. |
I have no opinion either way about whose currently Venom (I miss Brock, but what I've read of Flash Venom is great and eh, I've always vastly preferred Carnage anyway) but wow, that "origin" sounds awful.

So. Spider-Man and the X-Men #1. That is a comic that exists.
It is one that makes the world a better place to live in. It's great. Amazing, even. Uncanny in its humor and likability. Spectacular all around, in my opinion. Also, Ant-Man is a great time. I expected it to be good, but it is ASTONISHING just how good it was. I really hope Darla Deering shows up at some point. She's a great character, and DeerLang is absolutely adorable. |
