The remastered DVD set was Beez, which was a subsidiary of Bandai Entertainment and is now defunct like it is in the US.

The set that came out last month is from Anime Limited, a new UK distributor. Bebop is their first release but they also have bluray editions of Outlaw Star and Gurren Lagann coming out as well as some other things.

Ditto. Already got a bootleg DVD forever ago but that one series I would upgrade to blu-ray, even if there's not much difference.

The Davy Back Fight is like 12 episodes. I wasn't aware CN had been showing the series again for 12 weeks already.

Watched the first 2 Madoka movies, and was pretty underwhelmed by them. I knew they were essentially recap movies, but I was expecting a little more in the way of new footage other than "Oh a new 10 second transformation scene! Sayaka now has a hairclip! Madoka is wearing something other than her uniform! All the food Kyoko is eating has been altered!".

Was kinda worth it for the sweet third movie teaser though.

The first two Transformers! Go episodes are subbed so I thought I'd check those out.

They're alright I guess, but nothing you'd want a full series out of. Its the same kind of animation style as Energon/Cybertron, only a bit cheaper (the robots don't even move their mouths when they talk). It does make the toys look hella cool though, and its quite strange seeing Beast Hunters Prime and Predaking animated in that style.

I'm also still not used to the Japanese calling Prime "Optimus Prime" rather than Convoy.

In my defence, I've not watched a piece of NEW Japanese TF media in years so hearing it said was brand new to me :p

Eh. I'm not broken up over it. "Convoy" just brings up memories of terrible Japanese series that tries to treat the TF franchise for children ages 0-4.
While Optimus Prime doesn't flow off the tongue from a Japanese speaker, it's not that awkward to me.

I'm with you on this one. Them calling him Optimus and not Something Random Convoy, really doesn't effect my life at all.

Yeah, its no big deal that they suddenly call him Optimus. I'm just so used to hearing Convoy that to suddenly hear otherwise came as a bit of a shock to the system :lol

What does Convoy mean in Japan, anyway? Because here it means a line of Semi-Trucks (Lorry's to you :P) rolling down the highway. Which makes sense for most Primes, but Leo Convoy.. That was just weird.

Well Japan hasn't released anything original of Transformer since Galaxy Force.

It means truck. The original Diaclone toy was called Battle Convoy or battle truck. In the context of it being a piloted mecha that looks like a real semi-truck, it makes a lot more since. Plus, the rest of the Diaclones vwhere just named after their car mode's name.

PS Opitmus Prime is roughly "The best one" in Latin. Surprised no one ever accused Hasbro of subliminal messages with that one :p

Finished the Mayoi arc of Bakemonogatari. Gotta say, I was ready to write the episodes off since it had mostly been going around in circles (I know that's the point but work with me here :p) but as soon as the twist hit, man that got GOOD.

I've been watching Date A Live with some friends, it's ok. Also, maybe it was because it was 2am, but two of my friends were arguing over who gets Tohko. :lol

I think most of the arcs go that way with that show. Then again, I had no idea what was happening half of the time.

Tekka 05 - Just tell them what is going on D-Boy for Christ's sake, the drama in this show is so forced. The rivalry with Noal is given no purpose to be here at all and that melodramatic moment where Noal thought he'd have to kill him was so poorly realised it was almost laughable. Same with Allied Defence Force, who are just dicks for the sake of being dicks.

What the hell happened to the animation this episode? The action was as epic as ever, but it's never looked so cheap, that is some of the worst movement I've seen from an anime and some of the most inconsistent visuals I've ever seen to boot. It was to laughable degrees in places as intense close ups depicted boss eyed characters or people walking away in the distance and becoming more and more out of proportion.

The stuff we learn about the Tek system was great though. It added some much needed tension to the action, even if it was largely false. Largely because of insanely shit pacing.

So.. Lion Truck? That doesn't make any sense. Why to go Japan :lol

His name was originally Orion Pax, though.

Which is "Peace Hunter" in Latin. Pax mean peace (as in pax romana) and Orion is the hunter from Greek mythology. :p

Makes sense with how Prime's personality is. All he ever wants is peace.

It might've been. Remember, he wasn't always a lowly Space Bridger repairman. He started off in the Elite Guard but was drummed out after the incident with Black Arachnia. So before he joined up his name might've been Orion.

In Autoboot camp everyone that enlists is given a new name, that probably included Orion becoming Optimus. I bet he was given the name for being optimistic. :p

According to TF Wiki, he got the name Optimus from the get go. No rename.

I've been watching Sankarea lately. This show is pretty darn weird so far. The whole zombie girl fetish is kinda...

I'm watching Grendizer on Youtube...in Arabic(?). It sounds...ok enough. The subs are clear-cut and at least they didn't try localizing the names. I mean what would you call Duke Freed in Arabic? Amir Herat?

I really miss Transformers Animated. It was canceled too soon because it was such a good series. In fact, I think it is the best TF series ever, and the best since Beast Wars.
