Haven't been talking much on Decker here, generally just been really enjoying the show, but wow, this latest episode really feels like something straight out of the Showa era. How it deals with a subset of the cast discovering a strange and eclectic mystery, just the overall way it was paced and directed.
Something I really have to give credit for Decker is how well it's been balancing between its episodic and serial plots. It's something I think the New Gen shows have somewhat struggle with, partly due to their lower episode count, but Decker has been doing a really great job at it. What helps is that the episodic plots, while disconnected from each other, all still contribute to the shows overall messages and themes. Like just in this ep, we're still commenting on the effect of the Spheres and how their actions have shaped both the world and the characters. |
Definitely agree with the Showa Mystery style episode that this was.
I don't have too much to say about it, but I did enjoy it. I especially love the crazy camera angles like the mirror displaying Ragon and Decker, that was a nice touch. Next Episode: More Spheresaurus! |

Last week's episode was very Sakamoto and this week's was very Taguchi. I appreciate the weird mystery style they were going for in this ep, part Ultra Q and part Lovecraft story. I think the episode probably would've been better if Decker wasn't in it at all though.

I straight up had to pause in the middle of this episode when they were talking about all the lovecraft stuff, so I could log on to this thread to say this is a special one. All the weird dutch angles, the scream at the beginning that went into the opening theme song, lol. Why the heck are their airing this in December and not Halloween time?!
If you watch some of those old Ultraman episodes, especially the ones directed by Jissoji Akio, you get a real appreciation for the directorial work that goes into these series. All we need is some extreme closeups on actors and we can get a proper Jissoji tribute going here. I don’t know why I don’t look forward to this show more, when they are capable of doing cool stuff like this. |
I appreciated we actually got to see Decker fly off at the end. I think that was maybe the 5th or 6th time he's actually done it on the show?

A P-Bandai set of Ultra Dimension Cards is due out next year.

While I recognise Sphere, the Capsule Monsters, Bemstar and Zetton, I’m afraid my memory’s failing me with the others. Can anyone help? https://hobby.dengeki.com/ss/hobby/u...DNGz9pFosw.jpg |
... huh. Well. Now my collecting feels like it's been a bit of a waste of time! Guessing they just won't release any of the new ones here at retail.
Very happy to see some like Justice and Ultraseven 21 though |
