Digital sales are not a big issue since physical copies are still selling well. Not to mention indy comics are still doing well too.
Personally I prefer watching the movies as they have a beginning, middle and end. A comic sets up for the next issue meaning I'd need to read more and more to enjoy it, which is a hassle when you can just watch one movie and bam. Especially if the story ends up dragging on (Never forget Clone Saga) or turns bad midway

Using the 90's Spider-Man cartoon show is a bad example since comic books fans really did not like that show for the bad censorship from Saban and adapting the source material poorly. While kids enjoy the show, the older fans bash on the show when it was brand new. Same with the other Marvel cartoon shows at the time too.

Carnage would not work at all without being rated R. I know some kids would be upset that their parents won't let them see it. I rather have something be done right than water it down to be more family friendly.

Sony should do an adaptation of Maximum Carnage.
Like, completely forgo all origins and explanations. Just drop viewers off into the who thing.

Yeah, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again.

It's that they seem to be more focused on being "diverse" first and less concerned about being, you know, good. Where the goal is to make controversial headlines rather than actually tell good stories.

It's the same reason most Christian-targeted media is garbage. The message comes first, writing quality be damned. Fuck, half the time they can't even get the theology right, but that's a rant for another board and time.

I'm glad Marvel is taking a creative shift to focus more on superheroism rather than political commentary.
I was getting sick of having every character being reintroduced as another race/gender simply for needless diversity.

Also, a big complaint was that the writers' were letting their political standings slip way too deep into the comics, so everything basically became "Feminism and anti-Trump" for the past few months.
Not being super big into Marvel lately, I don't really know how much of that is true, though.

It's not so much as Marvel fans fear political commentary; it's just that Marvel is too SJW for their own damn good. No author can get away with forcing their options down their readers' throats 24/7 and Tumblr should just shut up and realize that while people want diversity almost no one wants to be Tumblr style socjus crap.

They can blame readers all they want; they'll just go find other comics to read. Who reads a superhero comic for characters saying white people/cis/males are terrible?

You do realize that most of Carnage's appearances are PG-13 right?

If DC can make the Joker work in PG-13 then Sony can make Marvel's crappy Joker clone work in PG-13.

I don't buy Marvel being too SJW as comics were always political. Captain America was made by 2 Jewish people out of their frustration America didn't want to help fight Germany in WWII. There are PSAs of Batman and Superman telling you to treat people equally even if they have different religions, genders or skin colour. X-Men is LITERALLY anti-bigotry and Black Panther was only made because Jack Kirby realized there were no black people in comics period

Okay, the third one was actually funny, but I'd argue that now it's far less subtle, people are NOW calling foul. Kamala Khan had a very subtle moment in which it was pretty much "Not EVERY muslim is a terrorist ffs, don't group everyone together because of loonies"
Also, I remember seeing a while back they made the Bombshells from Ultimate into stereotypical tumblr trash by shouting trigger warning and shit. And again, stuff like Civil War II weren't well received in the slightest either
