This episode...
I figured Agams was making a bigger deal out of the Planet Bazdo incident, so no surprises there. But the Chandler fight was really fun, I just adore the fights where the Attack Team beats the Kaiju without the aid of Ultraman, just really gives them time to shine and show off why they exist (even thought that chase scene was a little inconsistent, but who cares). This episode then delivered an absolutely magnificent battle between Decker and Terraphaser. The ground shot through the destroyed alleyway was beautiful, then the pit fight was just fantastic. Ultraman knows how to make some great fight scenes, but the ones like this are something special. The moment I saw the Sphere bit disappear from his face I knew something was up, heck, I knew the fact that he was slowly going nuts due to the Sphere transition couldn't end well, meaning Kanata might just have the chance to save him. Next Episode: "So who's gonna tell him?" On another note, I need to watch The Destined Crossroads. Been putting that off on account of sickness for too long... |
Okay, what was that Decker? The one thing that made this show interesting, Agams possibly having a point by blaming humans for destroying his planet... that's it?!
The way he talked about it made me think Earth sacrificed Planet Bazdo to the Sphere on purpose, or like ravaged the planet for resources on their quest for universal colonialism, but what was actually happening - is that a human ship crashed on the planet, accidentally, the planet then decided to aid Earth on purpose and was thus targeted by the Sphere? Excuse me, what? In which stupid way did Agams end up blaming humanity for this? Instead of, you know, the freakin' Sphere? Or his own planet for aiding Earth in a war fully knowing what possible consequences might ensue? Like, what? Why? Also, his plan is stupid to being with: "Let the Sphere consume Earth fully and strengthen them! So that they eventually will find Bazdo anyways!". Yeah sorry, this was the last interesting thing Decker had going on and it went flying out of the window. This is what Kanata was beating himself up for? Man. I kind of prefer Trigger at this point, it has gotten this far. This is so dumb. On the positive side, effect work was stellar as usual; the shot in the destroyed alleyway with the leaking water was beautiful, as was the scene within the city crater at the end. It's just that I cannot really muster myself to gush over it as I would like when the whole story around it all is so stupid. |
Given the way the episode ended, as well as the setup for next week, I get the feeling there's more going on about Agam's motivation beyond what he says in this episode.

Logically we know that the Sphere probably would have attacked Bazdo at some point any way but to Agams Earth arriving on their planet and him vouching for them is what doomed the planet. It's not meant to come off as rational. The man is too wracked with vengeance and probably the Sphere in him to act reasonably. |

Also, gotta love the random dog. If losing his wife wasn't bad enough, a cute dog had to bite the dust too :lol Quote:

But yes, losing your hot wife and adorable dog does wonders on a person' psyche. Quote:
I mean, we also see humanity's faults when you see how all the experimentation (like with the Sphere Corpse in this episode) ends up biting them in a butt, but I feel like making them at fault for aggressive expansion doesn't really work in a story with the Sphere as the villains in my opinion. |
I'm starting to get caught up on shows now that work is no longer in overdrive and I am just now realizing that Decker's ultimate form is called Dynamic because he's the New Generation Dyna. I am bad at this.*
Anyway, I just watched the Dyna team up and while it was fun, Dyna just showing up out of nowhere and Kanata already knowing who he was felt really underwhelming. I don't love to give Trigger credit for... well, anything, really, but it definitely did a better job of working in its 90s predecessor. *It is entirely possible that I already realized this and then forgot that I had. |
Next year... New Generation Gaia
|
The new clip show for Ultraman has been revelaed and it dosen't seem to be Gaia based.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9So6sGZjB8k And if you look closely Zero has some sort of device. Presumeably the Dimensionizer from the trademarks. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FkjseI3a...jpg&name=large |
It seems like this time there going to be more a plot for the clipshow.
In which someone erases the memories of the New Gen Heroes and it's up to Zero using his new device that was sent from the future to restore the memories/ history of the New Gen Heroes. https://m-78.jp/news/post-6586 |
