Those "fake" starter evos might have been confirmed with the latest trailer

Those leaks mention Ash-Greninja, and there's so much more. I like the concept of alternative designs, opens up more strategies

Oh my god those Ninetails and Sandslash redesigns are so cool!
I'm adding Sandslash to my team. Quote:
...Eggxecutor can go straight to hell though. |
Also rip Sandslash competitive viability. It gets slower and gains a fucking awful typing
Fucking love Minior though |
That was one hell of an info bomb. Like most of what I see too.
|
Huh. This is some next level stuff.
The henshin poses are hilarious by the way. :lolol |
My lord at the Exeggutor memes going around on Twitter now...

btw, who else is gonna call Vikavolt Gatack Zecter? |

I agree with you on the vikavolt thing though. |
Darwin's Finches, ruining Exeggutor and Sandslash, Gumshoos, making what I hope is an Ice/Fairy Hail setter.
This is quite the info reveal. |
So wouldn't this reveal of older Pokémon having new types/abilities be our first official taste of Delta species Pokémon in the main series games technically speaking? Remember that Delta species have only been seen in the TCG a long time ago.
|
One read of the Delta Species page on Bulbapedia later and....
No. Not technically. Not how I'm reading it. Seems like an important aspect of being a "Delta Species" is that although the altered Pokemon - which is not done through natural means anyway - has new typing, it retains its old weaknesses. Plus looking at the card art, they all still look the same. These new ones are entirely new sub-species basically. Different enough to say it's not the same thing. (Which as an aside is going to make reorganizing my living dex just oh so fun! :lol Hope we get more than gen 1 too.) |
The Z Ring will have a toy version that triggers sound effects and lights if a Z-Move is used ingame. Probably gonna be popular around here
|
I like the idea of alternate versions of classic Pokemon. I hope we get a couple more (But don't overdo it). I'm curious why 2 of the 3 we saw were Ice types, especially for a tropical region.
As for everything else, looks neat. I'm liking all the Pokemon, and I like how much variety they're having for the same Pokemon, like the 4 versions of Oricorio, or the 4 colors Minior can be (Finding the shiny for it will be a nightmare, though). I think the Lurantis line looks pretty neat, and it's cool to see Yungoose's evo, too. I don't quite understand the totem thing, though. Also, the Z-Move thing is interesting. I'm glad it's one for every type, rather than just one for "Special" Pokemon. I can see combining that with Mega Evo is gonna be a Sweeper's dream when that Ferrothorn or Gliscor comes out :lol |

I guess Z-Moves aren't gonna be very popular, since I don't see many players giving up Choice Items or Life Orbs for a once per battle attack, while Mega Stones will generally be the better item for the Pokemon that can do it. |

Imma put ice type Ninetails onto my team, thus adding up to four.
|
Ice Ninetales better have Snow Warning as it's HA to go along with normal Ninetales having Drought.

I guess perhaps some Pokemon like the Lati twins might benefit from it. Maybe as a one time alternative to Draco Meteor. Quote:

So what Pokemon do you guys want to get alola forms?
Personally i'm hoping we get alola forms for Gardevoir and Gallade that mix they're typings. It would be so cool to have Gardevoir be Psychic/Fighting and Gallade Psychic/Fairy. And a Shellos form because it always bugged me that his pokedex entry in Sinnoh was never followed up on. |

I'd like to see a Ground/Flying Dodrio and a Fire/Rock version of Onix.
|
So, regarding the Aloloa forms of old pokemon, is it that they're stuck like this throughout the entire game and there's no old form version? Or is it just the Alola versions you can catch only in Alola and you can use your old ones transferred from previous games?

Well, it wouldn't make sense if you transferred a Sandslash and it magically turned into ice :p

Bug/Psychic Butterfree, Dark Rattata line, Poison/Fighting Nido-line, Water Growlithe line, Fighting Abra line, Fighting/Flying Dodrio line Personally want to see these ASAP. Also, those leaked fully evolved Alola Starters from the same source are...Interesting, dunno if you guys know it or not |
Okay, that answers my question.
I have a few other questions. Do you think these new forms will have an individual slot in the national pokedex? Doesn't this region exclusive form thing cause issues if Sun and Moon are no longer accessible via online or Pokemon bank? Regarding the meta, will these forms be treated as different Pokemon? Do you think the lack of showcasing Megas so far make you think that they aren't any new ones, or that they're just post game stuff we'll have to learn about? EDIT: I just realized this alt form thing could make Pikablu an actual thing. |
The final evolved form of Rowlet looks so boss.

Ash Greninja is in the game. No way megas will be scrapped |
The fire guy in the trailer (what are we supposed to call them? They're not gym leaders but seem close enough to satisfy me) is said to have a Marowak. So I suspect we'll have a Fire-tyoe Alola Forme Marowak.

Fuck fighting types, though. It's getting way too overexposed. Also kind of disappointed that Dodrio is getting that rather than Ground, since it makes sense for a flightless bird. Oh well...The Butterfree, Ratatta, and Growlithe sound look neat. Would've liked more than Gen 1 love, though Quote:
I don't think it will cause issues, either. Much like how current games have accommodated the special evolutionary requirements for Glaceon, Leafeon, Magnezone, and Probopass, even if Sun/Moon are no longer available, I'm sure the Alolan forms will appear in later games in some manner. As for the Megas, I think it's because this is a new region entirely. They want to show off new Pokemon first and foremost. The alternate types for old Pokemon also feel more "New" than a Mega Evo. Maybe we can get a part Fairy type Milotic now?

So I was reading NeoGAF and someone found Eggecutor's pokedex entry from one of the GBA games. Holy shit the lore right now, specifically the first line.
