ShodoVS already did Kuuga Mighty and Amazing Mighty years ago. Shodo Go-Gadoru-Ba was made to complement SO-DO Chronicle Kuuga, which released wave 2 with Amazing Mighty around the same time. I'm not saying Shodo won't make Kuuga figures again someday, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.
|
Speaking of Nin Nin Game, I'm still waiting for them to ship my pre-order which was released in Japan Nov 21st, and even shows shows as "in-stock" on their website.

Problem is, Kuuga came out in the final wave, just as SHODO-VS was transitioning to SHODO-X, so it's pretty much on the level of the SHODO-X renewal figures already. Add to that a lot of the SHODO-O figures seemingly being made due to gauging the popularity thorugh polls, it probably *was* made for people who already had SHODO Kuuga, and wanted a villain for him to fight. Villains weren't being done in X, so it had to be done in O.
|
Hi guys, apologies for the naïveté here but can anyone explain the difference between So-Do, Shodo-X and the like? Or point me in the direction of some resources?
I'm looking into this line more as more forms are exclusive to this scale, so just trying to wrap my head around it haha. |

SHODO tend to do a 'best of' of each series they cover; the most off-the-wall stuff you can expect from them is kaijin like Gadoru or Joker -- in terms of Rider forms they never cover anything SHF for instance doesn't.
|

wait no SHF made excessive Gemns too. |

Like SHF though, it was just because it was easy recolours/belt swaps. |
Importantly, the scale between SODO and SHODO is different.

Shodo-X/O and SO-DO Chronicle are all designed by the same person, D-san. In the reveal of O3, it's said in no uncertain terms that Go-Gadoru-Ba was made to play well with ShodoVS Kuuga and SO-DO Chronicle Kuuga (which was releasing at the time). They also mention Go-Gadoru-Ba was pretty high in the surveys for monsters. Also D-san has included SO-DO Chronicle Den-O in line ups with Shodo Riders declaring Heisei phase 1 main Riders as done.
http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1607661583 Point is the designers treat all these lines as complements to each other. They see them all under the umbrella of Kamen Rider action figure candy toys, not as completely separate lines. PS unless you pose everything in the most boring way, standing straight up, the size difference isn't noticeable. |
SO-DO Gaim came in this morning and I went straight at it!

Thanks for all the info, folks! The slight difference in scaling is very interesting, seeing as they consider it one line/complementary lines and share their designer.
Definitely fun to see all the forms they come out with, like OOO new one and the sort of side forms for current Riders |
Kenzan time at last! His sword can split into two - though nothing on the shuriken configuration - and he can use previous Saber figures' parts to reproduce Ninja Pig and today's Ninja Jack!

As a last bit of Saber news, another figure from Book 4's to be revealed next week too https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1211100606.jpg And now the part I care about the most; SHODO BUILD!!!! In addition to X-12 looking like an absolutely BEAUTIFUL wave, the accessory pack is mostly tailored towards Hazard -- so in addition to Rabbit/Tank, you get heads (and weapons!) for Hawk/Gatling, Kaizoku/Ressha, Key/Dragon and Smapho/Wolf! https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1211175038.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1211175119.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1211175608.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1211181211.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1210185350.jpg |
oh god damn it
I literally today finished my SO-DO Build display (save some Guardians that haven't arrived yet), and now here's this gorgeous SHODO Build that I 1000% do not need and passed up on AmiAmi and am seconds away from now ordering. god damn it |
Well dang
Hard to say no to that. |
I think it'll be my first SHODO pickup! Eventually, that is. I'm glad it releases in May because I've got a lot of pending purchases before then, but after that... they are so mine. I love how right they got that Machine Builder!
Banjou seems to have gotten the short end of the stick (as always). Sento gets his belt more detailed with the fullbottles and the Drill Crusher is incredibly well painted, while Banjou's belt attachment is a flat colour and his Beat Crosser isn't well painted either. Hazard's bottles are painted over but, well, smart decision considering the additional parts. I'm alright with it though -- everyone here looks great! |

(Also, thanks for doing this week's post!) I don't know, New Gorgeous Build Figures is a good problem to have, but it's still a problem. (For me and my sicknesses.) Especially because I spent a year(-ish) getting all of these tiny mans: https://challengerscomics.com/images...o/IMG_3190.jpg And then here's them inside the cabinet: https://challengerscomics.com/images.../File_000.jpeg https://challengerscomics.com/images.../File_001.jpeg Like, I love these suits. I don't plan on doing this for another series right this second. (I did, uh, purchase all of Zero-One already? So, going forward, not my plan to go all-in.) And SHODO isn't going to touch, like, 80% of these suits. (Although, KumaTelevi??? Maybe???) But there was this brief window where I'm like Phew Completion and now I'm all And Then A Small Selection Of These Beauties. They do look great, though! And it's not like going for all of the SHODO Build figs is anything more than a couple three waves. It's just crazy that these photos got released within, like, an hour of me feeling a sense of finality about my tiny Builds. Collecting is a fun thing to do to the human brain. |
Dang, that's quite the display there!
I love how all the cubes surrounding it are Transformers, lol. |
Quote:
And I am in a very fluid state of reassigning space from one interest (plastic robot toys) to another (tiny mans). It's just one cube for Build SO-DO, but... I don't know, it's a negotiation. I'm trying to figure out where stuff is going to go in 2021. |
Damn dude, that's an amazing display! I love it!
Stickered up Chronicle Gaim recently, what a gorgeous figure. The increase in articulation is fantastic. Took a picture of him that I thought came out pretty well https://64.media.tumblr.com/da5aea0d...91ad7c5621.jpg |

(I'm also slightly relieved to see that I'm not the only one who has trouble getting the nameplate stickers to sit straight. Every time for me! I can get weirdly designed stickers to look immaculate, but Square Sticker Goes On Square just, like, never looks perfect. I think those bases are optical illusions, maybe? That square isn't really a square?) |

This is a pretty informative video about SO-DO, the development of the line and how the box pack outs work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hcxCnQgP0g |
SO-DO POP in general is an amazing fan-run news outlet for SO-DO news. They've got someone who understands and translates the articles so we get an idea of everything being said and everything's showcased and presented in a professional manner. Highlights from the most recent news include a hint at Build's Guardians in the future, and that Rabbit/Tank comes with his signature pose pointing hand despite it not being shown. Here's a link to their twitter!

So what are the chances we get more p-Bandai sodo imported?
I’m hoping we do, but I don’t know for certain, |
Hey so do I need to do this weeks SO-DO post? Because it was pretty great this week.

So we got not One awesome reveal with Slash here https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218164155.jpg but two with caliber Jaou Dragon! https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218164322.jpg And frankly both look fantastic! Unfortunately Jaou Dragon uses just a two peg connection for the cape so it can't move like so many of the saber details. Anyway the blog post notes some nice paint applications on both (the white lines on Slash's face and The tan lines on his limbs, all the gold on jaou dragon and the eyes of the dragon on the helmet. The coolest thing to me though, are these group shots https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218165451.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218165447.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218165504.jpg Also here's all the figures we know so far are in Saber Book 4 https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1218172625.png So as an aside to this... Check out these awesome perfect for sodo displays! They look super great and a lot like that factory area they film toei toku in. I'm hoping we get more in the future! Edit: Also this nendroid tea cafe might work well with SODO too! |

(That collar!) (Also, thanks for the post, Deepsea!) |

Also yes the design is hotpink covered in like those two tone cookies you see at the store sometimes. Also yes the collar is a great bit of design. |

The big unfortunate thing here beyond Calibur's cape is that Slash doesn't come with the gun mode of his sword; it's noted it'll be coming later with something else.
Either way, very cool lineup so far! Wasn't expecting Slash at all; was totally expecting them to keep up their pattern of Saber + Auxiliary book in one wave, the relevant extra Rider in the next. I wonder if we'll see Bremen no Rock Band in this wave at all, then? I believe what we're now down to is... - Saber Dragon Arthur - Saber Dragon Bremen - Saber Dragonic Knight - Blades King Lion - Saikou - Falchion - Saber Emotional Dragon |

For those who are interested, this box just dropped and it comes with a Shooting Wolf Zero-One So-Do. Which is the only reason I’m posting this video here.

Ending the year with Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi
https://i.imgur.com/h4HCqzO.png A really amazing figure, it feels like premium bandai with the amount of plastic you get. This one definitely took more paint than just about any other SO-DO I've done. Just a lot of gold. Speaking of Premium Bandai From the Bandai Gashapon Blog... It looks like we have a new SO-DO related line, it's the awesome ULTRAMAN Z!! https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1221122354.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1221121707.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1221122247.jpg They come with effect parts, which for Sevenger means damage eyes! https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1221121936.jpg http://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/20201225_ultraman This now means we have Sevenger in an Ultra Hero Vinyl, a deluxe lights and sounds figure, a Mini-pla kit, an SH Figuarts, and now a SO-DO candy toy!! He truly was the most popular robot of 2020. Pre-orders open tomorrow Dec 25th. Happy Holidays everyone! |
Knowing what I know, this is likely to be CHODO Ultraman related, meaning it's SHODO scaled.
|
Yup! This is part of their CHODO line; meaning fully painted, no assembly (beyond what's necessary to fit in boxes) or stickers. And damn if they don't look beautiful! 5500 yen for the three of them... definitely not a bad asking price. This is awesome! Would be cool if we saw another set with King Joe, Delta Rise Claw and Geed Galaxy Rising but the fact that even this happened is fantastic enough.

SO-DO Wave 4 has its last two figures revealed -- Dragonic Knight and King Lion! The latter unfortunately can't transform into his lion mode as probably expected, but they have so many paint applications that I think they're some of the best looking SODOs yet. Dragonic Knight practically looks like a SHODO!!
The release date has also been revealed as January 25th -- also, the blog's taking a break next week; but the week after will feature our first look at wave 5. https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1226140944.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1226140956.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...1226153112.png |
