You mean how people compared Ex-Aid to Jojo stands?

First reactions to things are often hilarious. I will always treasure old threads.

People's reaction to finding out about Gaim's writer was equally hilarious.

It's all so good to look at. Fast forward a year later and Ex-Aid is mostly regarded as a good show.

Funnily enough Ex-Aid's designs is what convinced me to check out Kamen Rider. Okay, I stumbled onto Gaim's designs first via the Figuarts and was intrigued but Ex-Aid really pushed me into watching.

Most reactions I remember are "Oh I guess the show is bad".

Not "I don’t like the designs", not "Not for me, pass", but specifically "Well, this will be bad".

I couldn’t wrap my head around how people were so adamant that the show would be bad based on leaked images of the suits.

To be fair! I had that same mindset when I stumbled onto Ex-Aid's design while I was on a break from KR during Ghost. A bizarre design that probably means taking the franchise in an uncertain direction, and that scares people.

Of course, I did pick it up when I went back to the franchise for Build and watched it along and became one of my well-liked shows.

It's a lesson I learned and many probably and/or should have. Never judge a toku based solely on its suits.

Seriously though, congrats!!

Jokes on them, Kamen Rider peaked with SD, it's been downhill ever since.

I think the funny thing is, like... alright, sure, Ex-Aid was arguably pushing it further; but by that point it's not like Kamen Rider digging into weirder wackier designs was anything new. Drive, Fourze, Gaim... you basically just had all those in a row and all of them had main designs that are very out of line with what you'd expect from Rider. There's a reason they saw a trend and really decided they needed to go back to basics with Build's main design!

I mean, after Fourze, rider designs were basically a free-for-all. But yes, Ex-Aid pushed it as far as they could, to the point they look so odd when next to other riders. It's so good.

Also, I thought the reason Build was so back-to-basics was cuz they thought Heisei was ending in 2017 and so they thought Build was the final heisei rider. Which is probably also his crossover movie was called HeiGen Final.
