Unfortunately, when I was on the verge of confirming payment, I noticed part of the shipping address was dropped, so now, I'm waiting on their customer service to sort it out. Le sad. |
Man, I don't remember them giving Gaim this much attention. Is Drive doing that lackluster that they need to really push it?

I still don't like how bare bones Drive is. I understand if he was a Showa Rider or someone like Kuuga but I wish he came with more then just a few hands. It remind me how the original SHF Agito was.

Been saying all along the marketing with first run bonuses was incredibly sleazy (splitting a single tire and its effects between two releases? Come on now!) and he should have come with Max Flare by default.
As a total package, Drive alone just doesn't seem worth the asking price, no matter how good the paint or articulation may be. |
Accessory count is always nonsensical with figuarts.
Look at kuuga...then look at hibiki Has anyone else noticed shipping prices have gone insane everywhere recently? I got my payment request from HLJ for three small things and it was $50.... Wtf |

Kuuga? He only uses his fists in Mighty Form, the belt is fused with his body, every weapon is connected to a different form. The only real accessory that makes sense would be his bike and that's sold separately, obviously. Sure, they could have made something ridiculous like a part of the coffin were the belt came from, a miniature Gouram or parts of his broken form. But nothing of that really makes sense to have with a figure of Kuuga Mighty Form. Drive though, that's another story. Since the Fourze module-sets were hard failures they limit the tires to pre-order bonuses instead of selling them separately and the weapons are given to Type Wild & Technic. The problem with this is not a lot of tires are going to be made, and the effect-parts that belong with them are also packed into different products, it's awful. And some things like Chaser's E-Circular Weapons are nowhere to be seen. It's pretty bad and since I don't like Drive enough to put up with this mess I decided to skip the line entirely. Seeing the Drive-figure with it's small box and four hands is kinda pathetic. Quote:

Hate to be "that guy", but I'm of two minds with Drive. At first when I learned the Handle Sword and Door Gun were coming with his other forms I was a bit annoyed. Even now I still kinda think Type Speed should have come with them.
That said though, with how the show handles the use of the weapons, I can also understand why Type Speed has no weapons. He technically only uses the Handle Sword as Type Wild most of the time. The same goes for the Door Gun mostly being used with Type Technique. Type Speed at its core is a straight brawler, so his figuart counterpart comes with what it needs, really. The first run bonus tires are a different story, but I can understand why Drive only comes with a few hands. |

For $40 he should not be that bare bones. It doesn't even look like he comes with any hands to hold weapons or ride a bike. There better not be a drop of bad quality control on him. But then, I guess I should have expected garbage toys from a garbage show. |

It being a "first release bonus" doesn't make any difference until the figure gets a reissue though. Right now it may as well just be a normal accessory in a different box.

Is he pretty bare bones? Yea no argument there, but I'm pretty sure the listing tells you that it's just the figure it self with a couple of hands. So it's your fault for pre-ordering when already knowing what he looks like and come with at that price point. |
Now, that I understand how first release bonuses work, Dive doesn't seem as bare now. Max Flare is a pretty good accessory that makes Drive seem more worthwhile, and the fact that I won't have to go scrambling around to find it makes me not dislike as much as I did initially.
|
Yeah I don't agree with the whole barebones thing. If you get the first release bonus (which almost everyone who ordered him by now should have) then you get an entire tire accessory and I believe the flame effects. That's not barebones at all. And you don't think calling the figure "garbage" before even owning it is a bit of an overreaction?
|
He tends to lean towards overreaction in almost everything. This is no different.
The official order pages for Drive has been live for MONTHS Kain. Using google translate would have shown you exactly what he comes with well, and I mean well before you put a pre-order in. Calling a figure garbage because you didn't bother to check what it actually came with is kind of ridiculous. And as others have said the first run bonus, which you can get anywhere at all right now, more than makes up for it. |
Speed Type is a brawler, so it's not like he needs all of those extra hands anyways. it would've been nice to have gotten the Door Gun and Handle Sword with this guy though at least.

Plus the tk type speed Didn't come with the weapons either. It might be annoying but I don't see how it warrants trashing the figure and show constantly.

Not that it has anything to do with the figures, it makes perfect sense to pack the weapons with them, it's just that I don't remember much about them and I do picture the weapons mostly with Type Speed. |
I can see why people are upset with bare bone figures seeing that other Tamashii lines like the S.H MonsterArts line will have figures with beam effect aparts. I do feel like Drive should have came with more but I'm willing to make it up for if the paint job and articulation is good enough. For example, S.H Figuarts Kinnikuman was kinda bare bones, but the paint job and articulation was solid enough for me to like the figure.
