What baffles me about Evangelion is that it's been around for ages…it's got this huge following all across the globe.

And yet they keep constantly recycling the same stories over and over again.

I know that the new Rebuild movies introduce a new character but still…I'm amazed that Eva's been around for so long and yet they only seem to be interested in doing retellings.

Why not just make a new series?

Yes and make in to a franchise that end then hate it cause it not cannon to the manga

Rebuild is a reboot that tries to make Eva seem more like a regular mecha anime, but doesn't really succeed. If they were to make a new series, it would probably be like the last one but with "Archangels" or something falsely symbolic.

People use that same argument for Gundam LOL.

But I looked up on the Eva wiki and aside from the movies and the series, msot of the Evangelion stuff has been recompilation.

Oh and why they don't make a new series. Because Evangelion is ridiculously popular for one series and Gynax wouldn't want to have it any other way. If they made a successor or new series that had a different plot, they view it as a risk that could ruin the insane amount the get from currently existing stuff. That and Anno is crazy so..... yeah.
