Could be. That cheap ol' skinflint was once a crab with a (somewhat) rusty heart of gold. Fladerasation ruined him along with the whole cast once Nick saw the show as a license to print money.

By now they at least have to acknowledge what they've done to the series and try to fix what can be fixed. Even the most gullible child wouldn't stay hooked on the undersea fry cook forever if there's no one likable on the show.
