This doesn't make any sense. Rebuild practically IS a new series now. It might have started the same but now the story couldn't be much further from the original. It's hardly recycling, and even then this is only the second thing animation there's been since the original.

Also, this stuff is hardly Anno's MO outside of Eva so it's not really comparable to Urobuchi who does this throughout his work.

Two episodes into Marvel DISK Wars: The Avengers, and they still have yet to establish the premise completely.

They are working on it, and since these episodes do focus in the heroes they've been kinda cool.
