She's a joke character that exploded in popularity, and unlike Deadpool, she actually began as a joke character.
The joke began as "Squirrels tho" and has now become "She can do whatever she wants whenever she wants because squirrels tho" to some readers, apparently.

I'm still surprised DC didn't sue Liefeld and Marvel into oblivion when Deadpool was first published.

And I think Marvel threatened to sue, but I think that was over Liefeld (Or someone at Image) trying to start up a team that used Marvel's convention of X-Noun, and thought it was intentionally trying to mislead buyers. Name was changed and no case was brought up, though.

Strange, though, since I think the comic companies were most hostile towards each other during the speculator boom :lol
