Skyrider 48.
It may have been a fake, but there's still something extremely entertaining about watching Skyrider be a dick to children. |
Something I doubt anybody would ever mention here.
Dragon Knight episode 10 It's fleshing out the current 'Rider of the week', with Thrust/Gai knowing he's being tricked but demanding answers because he doesn't want to risk that he isn't being tricked. I must say, the stunt team of this show is great, especially untransformed |
Just finished Kamen Rider Brave Episode 1 - Let's Survive! Revival of the Beast Rider Squad!
Total badassery. I love that they gave a little backstory to Hiiro and his nurses, but also some decent fight sequences. The Level 4 powerup Night of Safari is terrible at being a mock up of Drago Hunter Z, but that can be overlooked for what it does as a plot convention. |
Currently watching Ex Aid and liking it a lot.

Genpachiro the movie, feat Gou and Heart.
A year and a half on from Drive, and this movie reminds me why I loved it. The characters were great, the comedy was good, the action was amazing, it gave me a Gou love story I didn't know I needed, and made me enjoy it... It was great. 10/10 |
Finished Dragon Knight. Honestly, my only complaint is that there are recap episodes and Adam in the last 10 episodes

SkyRider Episode 9: This was a phenomenal martial arts episode. Loved Hiroshi's karate teacher who strangely looks like a live-action version of Bob Belcher from Bob's Burgers lol. The CobraMan's human form was great with his martials art duel against the teacher. That was brilliantly choreographed. I like Hiroshi's humbleness in the beginning believing in his teacher; his wanting to protect his teacher by letting him go instead, and also believing in his teacher who fought off the mind-controlled champions. He's also caring, determined, and altruistic always trying to help people. The battle at the end was fantastic and I loved SkyRider using Nunchaku. Also his flying Sky Kick was so ridiculously amazing this episode I loved it. I noticed that we didn't get Rider Break this episode which was a nice change of pace and that the monster exploded this time instead of disintegrated, I guess they actually had budget for the explosion or actually had them this time. I can't wait for more.

i just finished watching all 49 episodes of kuuga and i gotta say it is definitely the best kamen rider series ever everything about it is fantastic the music is great the fight scenes are well done the villains are really evil killing people in broad daylight and they're fascinatingly interesting Godai and Ichijo made a great team both likeable characters the tone of the show is serious and dark which i also like a lot and the main thing is it wasn't repetitive it held my interest it wasn't just introduce monster rider kick over in 20 minute show godai wasn't invincible which made him a far better character i especially like the fact that once he transforms he cant do so for 2 hours

Kiva 41
You know, I was waiting the whole season to see why the arm monsters cared about Otoya so much in the present. I guess all the stuff they went through was supposed to make them friends. Kinda drawing a blank on how this really makes sense but I guess it don't matter. Still don't know what goblin killed Mio and took her place. This is such un-Mio-like behavior. "Wataru, you're gonna fight that Fangire? You dick. I'm going to beat you up. Also kill the same Fangire I got angry at you for fighting. I am a very well written character." -Taiga, I guess. Decent episode, anyway, I guess. |
14 episodes in Agito
My god is Shouichi a great lead Can Houjou get killed off? Please? Pretty please? Characters are very likeable other than Houjou Houjou can eat a dick I like the use of practical effects for Agito's crests and Unknown Houjou mustn't be allowed to breath Designs are good, though Agito without the crest is kinda offputting for some reason BLEEF YO CEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL |

Anyway Kiva 42. My goodness when did Mio turn into such a dickbutt. We didn't raise you this way, girl. Also Wataru is stupid. Yes, leaving the chief of the organization going up against the Fangires to your evil Fangire brother is totally a good move. Wonder how Taiga turbed Shima into the Fangire... |

I've only one thing to say to the end of Kiva's 43rd episode.
HaHAAAA. Finally this show's getting good. |

...oh, wait. |
Kiva 44.
I appreciate them repeating the last scene from the last episode. Gave me a real hoot. "Jirou-tachi." REEEEEEE I don't really have anything else to say about this episode. |
Okay
I'm at episode 17 now and probably could have said this earlier But man, Agito's one of the most badass Riders in recent memory with the fucking crest and Rider Brake on the coolest bike ever. Hope it Lazer! |
Kiva 45
Aww, Wataru wasn't the one who killed Mio. That's not half as funny. Also lmao I like how the Kivat belt just appears on Otoya's waist. Just like with IXA. This show has a real problem with magic belts. So Otoya is also an idiot, which is unsurprising. Also trying to figure out when Maya and Otoya had the time to get funky during all this...unless Fangires actually reproduce through violin-making and I never knew. Threeeee moooore episoooodes |
At Agito 18
Houjou's pissed me off too much to the point my enjoyment in the show is lowered and furthermore, he shouldn't even be allowed to work there. Japan is known to be very strict, but constantly trying to bring the G3 Unit down for no apparent reason is dumb. He almost shot a child as G3 He was quick to run away from the Unknown proving he's incapable of fighting them He tries to incapacitate and possibly kill the only ally against the Unknown He disobeyed orders and used gas bullets despite his higher-ups being against it He attacked Gills, and I get why he'd think he's Agito, but it proves he's hypocrital as he was against getting an enemy Unknown, meaning the operation was specifically for Agito And the flashback with Tsukasa showed him almost getting killed while Tsukasa had to take a bullet for him because he was being a fucking idiot How the ACTUAL fuck did he stay in the police force? EDIT: I just realized something that pisses me off even more about him. Ex-aid has a similar name, Emu Hojo. And hearing Genm maniacally scream "HOJO EMU!" was great as that was an effective scene. NOW I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS TWAT |

Does Agito get better? Because considering how much power a mere unit like Houjou has, how there'd be more investigation on the fake Unknown attack and what not, I'm getting too pissed off. This is just bad writing for the police station. Why even do the personal recommendation OF A GUY WHO BOTCHED EVERYTHING UP AND SOMEONE WHO CONSTANTLY TRIES TO RUIN SHIT? I KNOW Houjou gets WORSE as I accidentally read a spoiler that he convinces the force that the Unknown should be ignored Someone spoil in advance how the hell he's in the position to keep doing these kinds of mistakes?

Oh my GOD.
I'm watching episode 52 of Skyrider and... Quote:
And these Showa shows barely have any continuity, so in the first place I'm just shocked to see an idea resurface almost 10 episodes later...and to have that idea be this? So many questions. So much laughter. |

I'm honestly not sure what's up with Agito's take on the police. After having them play such a big and positive role in Kuuga, it's like Inoue decided it was important to say "yes, the police are great, but sometimes they're also useless and corrupt dickbags." I really don't get it. |
I have to admit, Agito nearly bored me to tears when watching it. Kinda funny to see it provoking such rage from you Annuga!
|
I never really had a problem with Houjou. At least, not any problems the show didn't want me to have with him. I think his role, as cheap a drama tactic as it may be, works nicely to give the G3 team someone to bounce off of during their scenes, and there's always the clear undercurrent of "this guy is really just a giant loser" that makes him tolerable. The way his stint as G3 early on ends is great, for example. I honestly feel the show would be a lot more boring without him around.

But since Ghost I've been more critical, and there is no reason Houjou should still be an officer and never face consequences other than running away |
Skyrider 53
I thought they'd finally found a way to make Admiral Demon, and the show itself, interesting, and I was ready to give them props for that, even if it was just for the last few episodes. But it all turned out to be a boring ruse. How disappointing. |
Kiva 47
So I'll just say I strongly dislike the confidence=instant hypercompetence trope, which should give an idea of how I've been feeling about Wataru these past couple of episodes. Also have no idea why he felt the need to cosplay as the last king. He really just looks silly in leather. Anyway, I'm guessing at this point my chances of getting an explanation for Tatsulot are about the same as the chances of Kiva being an actually good show. Never did find out how Maya turned into a pirate either... |
I'm almost tempted to watch Kiva some time, from the way people are talking about it in here. But is it like, amusingly bad, like it's sounding from the comments, or is it just boringly bad, like Ghost was? Cause if it's the latter, I think I'll pass.

I've now finished both Skyrider and Kiva. I'll post my thoughts on the former later when I have more time. I don't really have anything to say about Kiva that I haven't already.
Except maybe that I have no idea why people rag so much on Wizard and Ghost when this show exists. Anyway, yeah. It ended like it lived. |

A few more thoughts...
I was waiting to see if the last episode would address this is any way (secretly i knew it absolutely would not) but this: Quote:
Like...actually, not even just the death, but the Aso ladies' entire role in the show is strange to me. What even was their point, again? Yuri was basically just an object for Otoya and Jirou to fight over for the first part of the show, then Otoya "won," after which she was just there so Maya could "steal" him from her (uuuurggg). Then she died, who cares (not the show, is the answer). And Megumi...was there to trick us into thinking that Yuri mattered? I mean, I don't know. Don't ask me. I could not tell you. I guess she also provided one extra person for 753 to be a dick to on a regular basis. Other than that... It's like the only reason they were involved is misdirection. But it's pointless misdirection. It's just...pointless. Nothing of interest even comes from it. Nothing meaningful happens because Otoya dates Yuri but then falls for Maya, just more awful pretentious spiels about people's inner musics and what the hell ever. And speaking of pointless things related to Yuri, I'm really struggling to figure out what role Rook could have possibly played in the Fangire organization. King, Queen and Bishop have pretty well defined roles. But Rook is just...in charge of games? It's...something. Meh. |
