Go-Busters 17.
I love the way the mech stuff is actually part of the plot, sure it's as much a toy commercial as any other show, but this show tries to not be so blatant about it. The mech stuff is just fantastic, the detail on the miniatures is just incredible and really does make it look like an actual city. Go-Buster Beet is SWEET :D I also love how Jin and J's involvement in the show isn't entirely focused on Hiromu just because he is red. It's just a shame Yoko always has so little to do and so little characterisation, but then sentai hates women. I also love how the show tells us Jin and J's relationship visually. They don't seem like friends, they constantly squabble, but then as they fight shoulder to shoulder they are completely in sync with one another, and it is a beautiful thing to see. Man I loved Forkroid. Both the 'I'm gonna fork you up' and Jin shouting 'shit!' in English. Go-Busters 18. I don't get Jin's transformation, I know his transformed suit is built out of parts of J, but even when he extracts the parts...they are still there on J :s Was it that hard to make a suit where bits detach? Surely they do any way? J was really fun this episode, as ever, but I feel sorry that Yoko had to act alone with him, as his likeability only magnified how annoying she is. Although why would J move the Megazord to the city? Wasn't it safer to fight where they were? How is the Go-Busters movie? I heard it takes place between episodes 20 and 22 in the series, so I'm nearing the time to watch it, if it is worth it. |

The movie is decent summer fun. As 30 minute summer Sentai films go it's very enjoyable and actually coherent, unlike, well any of the others I've ever seen.

Episode 19 of Go-Busters was the first episode that disappointed me. Not because it was bad, Go-Busters can't do bad, but this is the closest thing the show has felt to true filler. I know there have been similar kinds of episodes, but they were at the start when we were still establishing character and dynamics and stuff so they worked there. Did we really need to reaffirm the relationship between Hiromu and Nick almost half way through the show? Buster Hercules was cool though, he looks a bit of a state, as combination mecha always do, but he doesn't look quite the nightmare Oh does, as all the stuck on bits are just huge guns. You can't hate that. What did Ace get when he combined with the others? A huge gut and a moustache? |
If you think Go-Busters can't do bad, you haven't come across the eraser monster episode.
