Great~
Also, fuck that beetle. |
I'm so sorry about that Bowser/Mewtwo match.
I didn't mean to KO you at 46 percent. I think it may have been a system glitch. Apart from that I'm having fun. Kinda wish I had eShop funds so I can add Mewtwo to my 3DS as well as my Wii U. |

Well that was fun.
I gotta do some things around the house but overall Good Game! Thanks Matrix! |
T'was fun. Later~

I just missed a fight? D:

If we knew you wanted in we'd wait for you. Tommorrow's bad for me since I have work but perhaps on either Friday or Saturday all three of us can smash. |
Anyone up for a quick set of matches?
|
I'm game for some Smash.
Just let me go online. |
Sorry guys, I have to do some math homework. Good games.

I know her job is hard and that the parent don't respect her as much as they should but I just get so sick of dealing with that all the time. Apart from that GG. Gaby, how on earth do you make the Miis so strong? I for the life of me cannot figure out the custom system in Smash 4. |
How did i win that match as Jigglypuff? I suck as Jigglypuff. :lol

Buffing their stats for an edge.

So is there a reason why everyone hates clone characters? I hate them too, but I honestly have not thought a good reason of why I do so.

Sakurai went on to state that modifying and remodeling 3 existing characters was easier than to create one fully fledged one. As a result, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina (Who was already confirmed to be an alt costume for Marth before being tweaked into her own character) took up the time that could've gone to creating someone entirely different and unique. So the hatred for clone characters comes from two primary sources. The first is as already described, the work that went into them could've gone into someone original. The second is that they're seen as a cheap way to pad out the roster. |

"They're seen as a cheap way to pad out the roster" You also missed the primary point. Their inclusion doesn't take away a spot for someone else, but the the time worked on them could've been devoted to another. Sakurai explained that making a clone character wasn't just "Copy. Paste. Alter color effects" and that it still takes up lots of time to ensure they're not identical to the primary character. By wasting the time on 4 modified characters just to pad out the roster size rather than 1 creative character all their own, you can't see why people get upset? |
I don't think clones should be added over more unique characters, but there's no evidence that's ever happened and your quote sounds like a slight exaggeration.
Sure, if you removed every single clone character the developers might then have had time to have included, what? One completely unique character? Maybe? I'm just not sure that's a fair trade off when we're dealing with characters like Lucina and Dark Pit who are incredibly popular with fans (even if they have a fair amount of vocal haters in certain communities) and they probably required little work beyond tweaks that wouldn't exactly require the whole development team. And that's not even mentioning the likes of Falco and Luigi who are series staples at this point. It's really not as cut and dry as you're implying. We haven't see them talk about anyone else ever being considered but cut in favour of hashing out some more clones, so anything you say is speculation. Nintendo are well known for holding back games if they don't feel they're finished, so if they thought someone else should have been in the game, I'm sure they would have delayed it to fit them in. This all just sounds like it's people again getting upset that their favourite character wasn't included. |
To be fair, characters that were once clones have often developed into something more unique with each Smash game. (Main examples being Luigi and Falco). So who's to say the inclusion of these characters in this game is a total waste if they become unique in Smash 5?
|
Please don't start that "Whining because X wasn't included" bullshit with me. My most wanted was even directly addressed for why he'll never get in.
I'm not saying that certain characters were considered and cut in favor of a clone. I'm saying that time and resources were put into creating 4 modified characters rather than 1 unique one. You seem to be under the impression that making a "Clone" character is just a texture tweak and adding a lightning effect or something, and thus time spent creating them is basically nil in comparison to others. Additionally, every character has fans and haters. For everyone chanting a particular chicken dragon's name, there's another pointing out how stupid the character is. Popularity power only gets a character so far (Case in point being Chrom, arguably more popular than Robin, but wasn't selected due to not bringing enough variety to the party (Oh the irony) in comparison to Robin). I don't care who they add. I just want to see something new, but I guess I'm in the wrong in that mentality. If more characters, regardless of how they operate, even if near identical to a pre-existing one, is what you want, then fine. Should they evolve into someone all their own, then wonderful. I still won't see the appeal of 2 characters identical beyond "One's attack sends opponent's vertical. The other's sends them horizontal." And I do play Dark Pit. |
Okay, i think i DID make my Mii's too powerful, i almost beat my friend with Trucy, if it wasn't for one slip up i would have one. The guys the best Smash player at Uni so that's impressive in my book. :lol

Are you still using Mii's with enhanced stats?

When you're selecting a Mii Fighter or a Custom moveset character, there will be either a grey or orange circle in the corner. If it's orange, you've raised their stats. |

Sorry bro. I do love playing online but I can't live dreading Miis. |
There's nothing to dread. He's giving himself an unfair edge. It'd be akin to me giving Ganondorf tons of speed buffs and saying "I like my heavy hitters to move as fast as Sonic" to justify it.
My real issue with this is that, unlike custom movesets, Mii characters with buffs can't be turned off. So either Klonoa makes Mii fighters without buffs or he doesn't use them against us. |
Agreed. No Klonoa miis anymore

Characters can be given artificial buffs alongside their alternate moves during customization.
Where those buffs are only applied when "Custom characters" are turned on, the Mii Fighters' buffs are always applied, regardless. So Klonoa is tooting his own horn while getting wins with characters artificially made stronger. |

When playing against friends, there are two modes. Custom on, and custom off. With custom on, every character get access to whatever changes made. With custom off, only Mii Fighters get the changes. |
Okay, i won't use the mii's anymore. However i just want to say that i only use like once or twice a session so yeah.
I also promise never to use the custom Pikachu i made, i know i've never used him but yeah he truly does have a huge stat buff, being a balanced character with stats in the 50's, as well as having a recovery ability. I truly created a monster when i made that thing. |
Man, i feel like i've really gotten better at Smash brothers these past few months. Seriously when i first enrolled at Uni i couldn't keep up with people playing Smash there. Now i can stand a chance against them, i'm always close to winning but there's always one slip up that always lands me in second place. :lol
Or in the case of the replay i just sent to ya'll, third place. |
Meanwhile, my own abilities are getting rusty. I really should play more often, but Sideswipe's 3DS is never in the same room as him, for some reason.
|
I have two questions to ask.
1. Does anyone have the Wii U version? I thought we could swap friend codes so we can do With Friends on that version of SSB4 2. Is anyone open for 3DS Smashing tomorrow? Konami's decision to focus on mobile left a bad taste in my mouth and I want to play some online Smash to try and take my mind off the horrible news. |
