I decided to take a break from Evangelion for a bit (I'll watch the rebuild films later on) and decided to try Attack on Titan. I really like what I've seen so far. Music is awesome. Animation is (for the most part) great. I like the concept and most of the characters so far. Gonna catch up on the series this week and try to follow it weekly. |
It doesn't have any Kamen Rider references except having a lot of (coincidental) plot similarities to Ryuki, but yes the writer is the one doing Gaim :)
|
And so I slog on with G-Gundam... Episode 10 felt more like a Mummies Alive and Scooby Doo crossover. Still overall I really enjoyed this episode, mainly because it was largely focused around the Dragon Gundam and Domon only really came in at the end to do his super saiyan giga drill breaker, which is awesome. So yeah.

I have two episodes of Bakemonogatari left now, which means I'm midway through the Tsuabasa Cat arc.
The Sengouku arc was definitely the weakest so far - the character sucks and the snake spirit scenes were more than a little awkward to watch. However episode 12 (the Koyomi/Hitagi date episode) really made up for it. Not a lot happened, but the episode was just so nice and heartwarming that its been one of the standout episodes for me. |

I was actually completely disappointed by that arc too. The theme song during that one was just the best. |

Although I knew and liked that song already, as it's also Mayuri from Steins;Gate :D |

And Sengoku is simply annoying. But 12 on the other side was great. |

Anyway, series is all finished now. Absolutely loved it, I can see now why everyone praises it as a modern classic. Hopefully the rest of the franchise lives up to this. |

Well... Nisemono is kinda hit or miss, as they spend way too much time on reintroducing the characters, and as such Karen and Tsukihi feel kinda left out, but when it gets going it's nice. Nekomono, and Monogatari S2 seem to do better. Also take in account that the Novel that follows Bakemono hasn't been adapted yet, but it has many key plot points for future stories. If you are interested in reading it it's available on Baka-Tsuki, I would recommend it. |
Episode 9 of Tekka made me realise how much I'm not enjoying this show. What should have been a deep and intriguing look into its world and story, left my mind wandering and thinking about what is for lunch.
I guess it didn't help that about 3/4s of the episode wasn't even animated. |
Ooooh there's a new Pokemon anime coming out that follows the original game story line a bit closer!

Fairy Tale is now on Netflix for those interested!

Finally got around to watching more Penguindrum, this show is getting mad crazy and mad awesome. It also always takes me off guard just how dark this show continues to be, while telling such a dark story such through such cutesy visuals. I mean Ringo's backstory and entire motivations are truly tragic and in many senses extremely twisted and they tell it through arguing plush toys and giant eels.
About the only thing I hate is the way #2 always gets hurt, HE'S TOO CUTE STOP GIVING HIM MISFORTUNE. |

Binbougami-Ga! Loving every minute of it. Notable mention: Ben-To, where Half-Priced Lunch boxes aren't just a bargain, they are a matter of honor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8N9J42FJq0 |

Watched last nights episode of SAO.
My brother couldn't sleep so he watched it with me. I said "If there's anything i learned in this show is that everybody Kirito meets dies at the end." The girl he meets in this episode didn't die and my brother looked at me and said "What happens at the end of every episode?" |

Episode 7 of Penguindrum...was pretty terrible. It felt like things were finally starting to...happen and then we get this episode, which once again returns the show to feeling like Family Guy, ala a series of random scenes chucked together in a random order. Even the animation seemed cheaper this episode.

In honor of the new Wolverine movie, MTV decide to air the Wolverine anime.
Watched the season finale yesterday. It was so unintentionally funny :lol The overall story isn't bad per se, it's generic anime fare, what I can't get behind is Shingen, comics Shingen is skilled but anime Shingen gets Inuyasha's Wind Scar... I mean wtf. |

For an episode that wasted so much time with needless filler and padding, episode 8 of Penguindrum was really enjoyable. This show is so ridiculously dark, Ringo is utterly terrifying.

X-Men and Blade are much better. |
Tekka 10 - the episode where D-Boy magically gets his clothes back and saves a bunch of drunks but not before he gets drunk himself. Oh also they sing Danny Boy in Japanese and it's hilarious. It was a really great episode, minus the horrendous dated animation.

Well since, RWBY is officially on Crunchyroll, I can officially say I'm watching RWBY that's a anime.

Whoever said RWBY was not an anime, I retort with this:HA! In your face!
thank you and have a nice day. |
So, now what is and isn't an anime isn't determined by it's definition, but whether or not it's hosted by a certain site?
Whatever. |

Just because something is on Crunchyroll does not make it "anime". If you want to define "anime" as anything that's Japanese animation-inspired, then yes it's anime. If you define as many people do, including myself, as "animation from Japan" (because that's what the Western definition has essentially become), then it's not. Please do not turn this thread into an endless debate as many discussions about Avatar eventually become. |
Although I agree with you Zeo and Matrix, I have to ask, does even Japanese Anime still count as anime if most of it is outsourced to Korea? :lol

Including My Little Pony :p The Western definition is just the more common one, but it doesn't matter where it's made, as long as it hits Japanese airwaves, to qualify as anime. |
