Ah yes, bid sniping. See, I generally don't do this.What I do is put down a good a bid that I'm comfortable paying the least with as my max bid. And then as the time goes and people bid against me, I gauge and bid the minimum, this not raising it much. Only time I snipe is if I really want the item.

I placed my max bid a while ago and I will likely get it so I held. I've been trying to get the shows in order after Hurri but missed 2 of them before adding Go On. My auction is the next one I need. (Samurai) From Toei.

I've ordered them up to Magi to continue beyond Shout Factory's cut off point at Hurri.

I'm not big on auctions but I was missing this set. I collect these shows to watch. Hasbro may skip a few as well. Saban had skipped To Quger. Hasbro rebounded for Go Busters.

Started Lupin Pat today and it's another solid series and home run out of the gate. Hopefully the animal series after Nin will be just as good. Saw #01 today of Lupin Pat and it was good. Power Rangers could have done a Spy Vs Spy thing with it. That would have been fun to see.

I feel like American parents wouldn't be too happy with young kids watching thieves as heroes but what do I know.

You know how everyone was complaining that the police got massively overshadowed in the toy department by the thieves? If Lupat did get adapted american parents would put those complaints into hyperdrive :lol

I took a browse through our member list out of curiosity, and I was surprised to find out this board has had some "bigger" names in it before like illiniguy34 and Vangelus(personal opinions of their content aside). This also lead me to browsing through and reading alot of older posts and, gotta say, maybe it's just because I wasn't there, but I feel like the community here, while it definitely seems smaller, is alot better now. Feels alot tighter knit. I like you guys.

Also totally random thought but I'd love to be able to interview some Toku actors someday; American or Japanese(although my lack of knowledge in the language would probably hinder that). The cast of Hyper Force especially.

You know, there was a time where I loved browsing internet because yadda yadda real life sucks and internet is good place to be yourself, but nowadays the tables have turned. Granted, it's common for people to say internet is full of assholes, but lately it feels like everyone fled to the internet, assholes included (and this is not counting the pandemic because frankly these things felt even before pandemic happens). Out of curiosity what was the general vibe of the Tokunation community like back then?

As of recently with the adds of To Quger - Ryusoul I've now swapped out of Power Rangers. Now I'm going for Samurai - Kyo (Which is right before To Quger) to fill in the Ranger shows Zyu (Beast) Ranger forward after which I'll own 29 series on DVD. The 3 shows up to Magi and Go On post Shout Factory are shipping. Missing 2006 and 2007 on DVD.

I will need to stream 2006 to catch up to where my earliest was. (2007)

I still at some point need to get 1975 - Jet Man.

Oh, nothing super duper bad(sorry if the original post implied that!) but of the few topics I ended up browsing it seemed like alot more of the same I've seen on other Toku boards; Going on and on about how bad [CURRENT ERA] of PR is compared to [PREVIOUS ERA], acting like Sentai and KR have never done any wrong, etc.

Fun fact: The reason I actually ended up joining these boards was because I noticed how much more chill this place was compared to the other boards I've been to. Heck, I haven't been chased out for being one of the six PR/Neo-Saban fans on this board yet.

Yeah. Vangelus does action figure reviews. Mostly of Transformers but sometimes dips into other stuff(usually KR) as well. Meanwhile illiniguy34 used to do action figure reviews too but then went on to do other stuff(he also had some controversy surrounding him a few years back but I never kept up with it so I dunno all the details).

Well the only royally botched up series in Power Rangers was Mega Forc e with the hybrid thing with Gokai. But I was getting ticked off with Power Rangers due to skipping 4 of them. So I started watching the Toei shows so I wouldn't miss any. Right now watching the 4 that got skipped. And Ryusoul. If it were still Jetix nobody would be skipped.

It started with the loss of a year due to the move to Nick. After which 2 years to adapt a series. Causing To Quger to get passed up for Ninja Steel. (After Dino Charge)

We had missed out on the animal series and the space series as well as Lupin Pat and ended up going right to Dino Fury.

Mayhaps it was the infamous "ToQ Boner" that made them skip over ToQger?

Remark aside I did see that bit recently. With Ryusoul locked no need to worry about skipping any series To Quger forward once I have Nin and the next one.

I had a seriously bad thought about the To Quger Mega Zord taking a leak.

It was during Dino Charge (2015 I believe) where they are preparing to adapt the next Sentai. Saban, be it either Haim or the company says that the suit is too 'pre-school-ish'.

I've seen To Quger up to #06 so far and I like it. Saban are beyond shortsighted and dumb.

I think they could have made a darker more US friendly adaption.

Honestly not too wild about ToQger's helmets. Blank black would have been fine. I like the outfits however. The visors were a bit over done.

I spent the day hanging out with a really close friend of mine. His father recently passed due to old age so he's moving to the other side of the state to try and get a fresh start in his life. Sad to see him go, but I know it's for the best. And it's not like I'll never see him again, so I wish him luck.

People are saying they're tired of superhero movies, but I feel like we need them more than ever now, especially the one that would help inspire audiences to believe in humanity again.

That's fascinating. Last year I took film studies, and even though I aced that class, I developed a hatred for art/indie films due to pretentious audiences lol.

Yeah super hero movies are becoming a little too meta and deconstructionist to provide the sense of wonder and optimism super heroes were originally created for.

I don't know that Marvel or DC are in the right space for it either. All their characters are old enough to have seen 1 or 2 too many gritty takes.

What we actually need now is Janperson.

This is exactly why I turned to Toku -- there at least when you've got a deconstruction like KR Ryuki or Ultraman Nexus, it's only once in a while so it actually works as a deconstruction rather than just being the new norm.

It's why I'm kinda tired of superhero movies and why I imagine a lot of people are -- precisely because I agree with "but I feel like we need them more than ever now, especially the one that would help inspire audiences to believe in humanity again" quite a bit.
