I think this is turning into a different issue I have with Ex-Aid, but I'll save that... It'll probably sort itself out in the end anyway. |

I'm wanting to catch up on Ex-Aid.
Which sub group is best to follow? |
Quote:
They are a new group and Ex-Aid is their first project but they're doing a fantastic job so far IMO. |

Also, it's a good thing they have the person who chose to rename Gridon for a joke that no one cared about? |

See, that was a mistake, but I understand why it was made. It was an attempt at an elegant translation that fell on its face.
Now people who act like it was some form of mortal sin completely confound me. |

This stuff happens. See the Go-Buster Oh/King debacle (also Magenta's fault, coincidentally). Or how they went ahead and translated the name of the Sengoku Driver only for it to turn out to be named after a guy in-universe. Something I'm pretty sure they mentioned would be corrected in the series batch torrent that never happened since Aesir just sort of stopped existing after the show ended, unfortunately. |

Hibiki, episodes thirty through forty-eight. Yes, I finally found the courage to finish this series, yay!
The changes I immediately noticed include: no narration by Asumu at the start of each episode, the removal of flashing kanji, the eventual change in OP and removal of ED, more focus on the Oni and less on Asumu, and the inclusion of Kiriya. The changes are definitely there, and they aren’t subtle, either. I knew I was bound to get some enjoyment out of them but honestly: I didn’t find these last nineteen episodes to be as bad as I thought I would. At no point did these episodes make me feel like I was watching a different show that just happened to feature the same characters and setting as the first twenty-nine episodes. I don’t know― Had I watched the series in one go, perhaps the shift in tone would have been more obvious. I’m not saying the changes were good but in Inoue’s defence, he was only doing what TOEI wanted―make alterations to help boost toy sales―since the original team, quite rightly I’d say, refused. It’s disappointing that the original team couldn’t tell the story they wanted. TOEI didn’t have to fire them. The team could have done what was asked in their own way. If only the higher-ups just had faith. Overall I quite enjoyed both “traditional” and “untraditional” Hibiki. My only real complaint with Inoue’s take on the series―changes above notwithstanding―is the last episode. The sealing of the Orochi was a bit underwhelming, and I felt that “one year later” epilogue-like thing just came out of nowhere. The conversation between Hibiki and Asumu at the end was quite touching, though. Also, I found it quite hard to tell that the final fight was rewritten while it was being filmed. :lol, the magic of editing! XD |

If anything, I think they should have committed to it and named him "Corn-ay" or something. Really get the stupid across. But that's just my ranty opinion. |
So Im new to this thread. Love seeing all of the comments, a good majority of these helped me decide what Im watching. Im currently watching Decade (10 eps in) and I have zero knowledge of any of 9 previous Rider series, but Im thoroughly enjoying it so far and anything Im really hazy on I pick up online.
Going to start Kuuga next. |
Ex-Aid Ep 15-17
This show is very getting pretty good. Nico and Taiga are balancing eachother out nicely (something I never would have expected), ParaDX is cool, with a nice gimmick and sweet design, but props go to Juju Burger. It's probably my faourite form so far (minus Dangerous Zombie), but we're never going to see it again... Also, RIP Burgmon. So cruelly torn from us. |
Just got done watching X (in a record time of just under two years!). Don't have a lot to say about it. It was alright. The ending was good. The suit was good. Probably had some of the most batshit plots in all the KR I've seen.
Whole blueprint arc was pretty neat. It's rare for Showa Rider to do any plots that aren't completely self-contained to a single episode. Having them extend past two, let alone the...almost 10, I wanna say...episodes this one took was unexpected. They were still largely episodic, but far more serialized than any other stretch of Showa Rider episodes I've seen. Glad I decided to just bite the bullet and watch the last almost-half of the show raw. Definitely wouldn't have been as fun at the halting pace subs come out. So that's my 15th Rider season out of the way. Woo. Only have like 8 episodes left of Super-1, so I should be done with that as well within the week. Exciting stuff. |

I mean... |
I'm at the EP10 of Gaim and I love it, but one thing I don't get...
How can Takatora NOT know that Micchy takes part in the games? I mean, this stuff is broadcast on TV! He already has every reason to suspect that Micchy stole the Lock Seeds and Sid is playing with him. |

It's not logical, in this day and age Takatora would get a glimpse of Armored Rider Ryugen out of accident sooner than later, but it's not that bad IMO. |
My opinion will depend on how will they handle Takatora's arc from now on. If he's supposed to be a genius corporate mastermind, then this is makes him too stupid, but if he's supposed to be a guy who's not half as smart as he thinks he is, I'll buy it. But still, it still seems that the guy with his position seems to be the type of person who'd at least install cameras all over his house, IMO.
It sort fits what seems to be the theme of the show for me. The kids were playing with Inves and then they find out that they are way more dangerous than they suspected - which is a good metaphor for growing up, as we find out that everything we do has consequences. On the other hand, the adults may be even worse, because they THINK they have everything under control. |

I can't wait to find out! This is a part of what makes this show so exciting to watch - there are so many characters with different motivations and agendas and there's a lot of fun trying to figure out where they're heading.
If there's one character who really is weakly written, it's Mai. I have to remember that this is the same guy who wrote Madoka, because here his idea of a teenage girl seems to be a person who has no rhyme or reason to her behavior. Basically, right now she's there to be stupid. By the way, could I ask you what show your signature is from? This design looks great. |

Just finished part one of the the KR Snipe Trigger Of Destiny. Taiga to me is one of those characters that needed a back story so I'm glad this was made.
|
Started watching Ex-Aid. I'm definitely not the first person to notice that the Bugsters literally look like crap...
I like that they explain why the Riders can't just level up immediately. Makes it much more logical! |

Yeah, and I really appreciated it!

Episode six of Ex-Aid. I like it, but I watch it mainly for the plot, because 70 percent of the characters are (at least seemingly) amoral and only Kiriya is really entertaining while being so.
|
Just finished the last episode of Super-1.
I thought the show was fine. |

Episode 12 of Ex-Aid. I love that this show keeps surprising me, but...
Did they really have to kill the best character so early? :O He was the one who brought some much needed levity and fun to this surprisingly dark show without being comic relief. He could be Han to Emu's Luke : ( |
I ended up enjoying Go-Busters a lot, and blew through it pretty quickly, so I haven't quite washed the taste of Kiva off completely, but regardless, it's time.
Plus, by my calculations, I have exactly 555 Rider episodes left to watch, no joke. It's like the universe is trying to tell me something. So, it's time for me to embark on what I understand will be a wondrous journey of M I S U N D E R S T A N D I N GS, sadness, and dickitude. So yeah, Faiz episode 1. Thought it was a pretty cool start. Weird to see Mio-san with a personality, though. |
I'm up to ep 23 of Ex-Aid. I'm on the hype train now, this show is really bug-f**k crazy for a supposed 'kid's show'...
