That said, the stories have been lacking. While I loved them growing up, a lot of them just haven't aged well. Quote:
Frontier I just couldn't get behind. While practically every series focused on just the main 2 characters, Frontier took it too far. Adventure always felt like it was going downhill after Myotismon's defeat. Quote:
My personal favorite will always lie with Gallantmon/Dukemon, but Omegamon is still one of my favorites. Quote:

I want an Angemon D-Arts.
Because Angemon was a badass angel from a Japanese kids' show 11 years before Goseiger. |
I guess I just got the feeling that I'm a bit of an over the top Digimon fanboy, lol. I go on a forum and I'm like "What!? No Digimon thread?!", so I must say there being one here is pretty awesome.
I do agree, the stories are lacking, but I think overall I enjoy them. You're right about the emphasis on the two main characters, I think that is part of why Tamers is the best. The focus is a bit more equal, and at least there are only a few characters to focus on instead of a large group. I think Dukemon is great as well, but Omnimon is one of those designs that really caught my eye early on. I think it's also the fact that it's two Mega level Digimon that I really like combined, so it's got that extra cool factor. Yes, more Royal Knights would be great in D-Arts, as would Angemon. Angemon doesn't get the attention he deserves, he's definitely a bad ass. It's embarrassing to say, but I don't have D-Arts Omegamon.. I wasn't collecting at that point in time. So I'd love to see him reissued. Instead we get a Wargreymon reissue, lol. Which is great too, don't get me wrong. Personally I would have rather liked to see Greymon. I tend to prefer the Champion and Ultimate level designs. I like the Megas too, and some aren't as crazy as others, but I like the base level quality of the Champion designs. |
I want digimon heroclix.

And then there's the One-Scene Wonder of Seraphimon. |
Design wise, I just prefer Angemon to all of his other forms. To me he looks just right, whereas the others are a bit too priest-like and armored for me. I think every form is great, I like them all, but Angemon is the quintessential one for me personally. A lot of Digimon have excellent "final" forms which are certainly the coolest, some I just prefer the lesser forms.

Was I seriously the only guy to buy an Omnimon D-Art? :lol
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...55773829_n.jpg (Random pic I had taken yesterday because someone doubted my ownership of both of them on Facebook :p) Anyway, I don't have a problem with a series focusing on the main 2, but Frontier just took it one step too far. For example, Koichi/Duskmon's entire story was set up as something epic, but then the Darkness Spirit was purified, we saw Lowemon and JagerLowemon a whopping one time, and then Koji got MagnaGarurumon that requires both Darkness Spirits to evolve into. And then he gets curbstomped by Dynasmon and Crusadermon. However, Tamers did do it best, keeping a fair amount of focus on Takato (Though he did get the most, but I don't mind it), Rika, and Henry, while simultaneously keeping Juri important...And Ryo too, I guess... As for Angemon, I prefer Angemon over MagnaAngemon and Seraphimon. Angemon's design is just the best, without being overdesigned or just feeling cluttered or chunky. That, and I love Angemon's Angel Staff. Always thought that was a badass weapon. |
If I had known about the line at the time and had been collecting figures (outside of Marvel Universe) I would have gotten him for sure. I'm happy to be getting Metalgarurumon and a reissuse of Wargreymon, but Omegamon will remain that grail figure until he gets reissued. I think getting a repainted Wargreymon and finally getting Metalgarurumon, plus the SSJ Goku & Megaman X reissues are a good sign. I hope so anyway.. I'd pay $100 for a Japanese only rerelease of Omegaman, it's better than $200-$300.
The Digimon rule of two was a bit intense with Frontier, I guess I just dig the Champion level designs in the series so much I'm biased. Yeah, I'm that kind of person that toy companies love, lol. Tamers was great. I like how it had a slight Sentai feel to it with the group being smaller and there was that vibe of each tamer having it's own identifying color. I'm surprised with the D-Arts Digimon releases so far to be honest, but I guess it's very much any other toy line. Focus on the heavies and their variants. |
