It looks awesome though! Is Dias supposed to be a young Diavolo? Seems like he has a different voice though. Quote:
So a serious and stoic undercover operative...who also loves cosplaying. Can someone say Gap Moe? |

Ultra Q Dark Fantasy did not live to the expectations, but it's not a terrible show. If Ultra Q was a horror series, Dark fantasy would be a J-Drama with horror elements.
The horror in this series is majorly mysterious phenomenons with very few aliens and kaiju appearances. Don't go to this series for the kaiju, otherwise you'd be disappointed. Special effects were still early 2000s quality. CGI is dodgy and some costumes didn't look convincing. Suspense varies from episode to another, but for the most part it landed well. I have just finished watching the English dubbed version of episode eight of Ultraman Z and I am seriously enjoying this show a whole lot and I am looking forward to watching more. I think Z might even become another favorite Ultraman series of mine since Ultraman Mebius if this series keeps it up with its overall quality.

Been getting into the original Ultraman series after really enjoying Shin Ultraman. It's been a fun change from Ishinomori style Showa toku. I can only watch so many episodes of "scientist who developed weapon of mass destruction to be used for peace shocked that evil organization wants to use it for mass destruction" Kaiju and seijin present a very different sort of threat. Curious about something though. The actor who plays Ide, was he mixed race? I swear he looks almost white. I'll admit I'm hella face blind though, so I might be talking nonsense

Checked out the opening episode of Z on Switchblade's recommendation and I honestly really liked it. Giant toku isn't really usually my kind of thing, but I think they did a good job here of blending the traditional elements of these kinds of productions with more modern sensibilities.
Also, as much as I love Rider's flying around carparks shooting lasers at each other, I did enjoy the feedback and thrill of seeing people getting smashed through buildings. I think they handled this well, too, as they integrated the world around these events to enhance the feedback, as I remember so many sentai mecha fights which just seemed to take place in weird cardboard void dimensions where no human life was in danger despite whole cities being flattened. |

Ultraman, in principle, always coped with the effect of gigantism better than Sentai. Partly because of the shorter shows, partly because the human-sized action is secondary and optional to him. |
Thoughts about the Ultraman parody being in the Treehouse Of Horror ?
