NY has bigger problems than that. I can live with paying for orders up front for the most part, but their service is as bad as ever.
I requested the Reboot Omegamon kit from them and a few days later they sent me an email saying that they will "look for it" which is really dumb since they ask for a link in the request form. Anyway, I figured I'd go check the site out and see if anything new was up and the kit was already there and was sold out. Literally less than 2 minutes after they sent me that email. Then they had the gall to email me another 2 days later with the link to the sold out item. |
Is there a month this is officially starting on, or has it already started? I don't mind paying off most of my POs since they are single items, but I'd really prefer not to pay for the Hulkbuster now.

I'll admit it sucks to see it go, but I don't really mind a whole lot. As somebody who only rarely gets web exclusives, and only buys one or two at a time, it doesn't affect me as much as it would others. So shame to see it go but I'll live.

I don't really blame NY, the problem is that now they want to charge me for three items and give me a week to do so. It has a reason why I picked the "Pay Later"-option, because I can't pay for all of them at the same time.
If they let me cancel two of them and let me pay the one I can actually pay I'm fine. And from now on I won't have this problem anymore since they'll most likely don't offer this option anymore. But if they expect me to pay everything and close my account I'll raise hell. |
I'm not thrilled about this at all, though apparently my frustration needs to be aimed at Bandai.
I have orders of at least 22000 yen (typically more) through January. I was barely going to pay for this month's order, and though I have some extra money coming this month thanks to a relatively light AmiAmi order, I won't have the cash available to pay off November & December, let alone all of it by next week. Hell, even if there was a buffer of an extra month offered, I couldn't swing it in September because I'm already loaded then (Gunbuster, Tridoron, others). I do wonder how many people have to cancel their orders due to this change, and by extension how much it'll effect available stock on the secondary market. I won't be thrilled if Knuckle jumps up in price Quote:

Guess this means I gotta be more choosy with Premium Bandai stuff in the future....
|
One thing that I've just noticed that's got me curious.
The order deadline for Knuckle on the Tamashii webshop site is the 20th August. Nippon Yasan are asking for money a week before that. Despite their email specifically mentioning November and December products, they haven't asked me to pay for Vegeta yet. Looking at the webshop site again, he doesn't have a deadline yet. I'm wondering if this means that it isn't strictly pay up front, but more "you have to pay before Bandai's deadline now". It would explain why I haven't been charged for Vegeta, as well as why the "pay later" option was there when I preordered Omegamon (despite there being rumblings that had disappeared when I ordered it). I mean, I could be WAY off base here but it certainly makes the inconsistencies in N-Y email a bit clearer if true. |

Can't really be too mad at NY, but there's absolutely no way I'm going to be able to pay off Knuckle right now. That was the whole point in me doing the "Pay Later" option. Luckily, Knuckle is the only pre-order from November and later that I actually have.
Hopefully NY is understanding enough to not start closing people's accounts because this did come the hell out of nowhere. |
I unserstand the WHY and am not mad about that.
It's demanding everything right now I take issue with. If it was gping forth or they gave a little more time, fine. Plus now we know for the future. But existing orders is a problem for many. |

I'm probably with a lot of others when I say I'm probably going to avoid exclusives in the future unless they're must-haves. |
I just realized I haven't received a payment reminder for the August stuff. I see they list its ETA as the 27th, so IF they don't need the money for that until around the 22nd, I can at least swing paying November's before & August's on the 20th (when I get paid again). That still leaves December up in the air, but if ZeoRangerV's observation that this could be tied to Bandai's order deadline date is correct, I at least have until September to figure out what I want to do with that order.

I tried to put in an order for Vegeta just out of curiousity and it seems that the pay later option has been removed.
|
Sucks that this has to happen, since now I have to cancel my Knuckle pre-order and hope I can get another one in closer to November. Just glad Sigurd hits in October and isn't effected by this.
A bright side to this is that I won't be tempted to pre-order a bunch of stuff just cause I can pay later, but I did like being at ease when it came to placing an order and knowing you'll get it, especially web exclusives. |
yeah i guess i cant be too mad at whats happening from now on but im pissed if they are going to send an email for past orders and require the payment up front! thats insanity! they should honor the orders placed before the change. theres no way ill be able to pay for hulkbuster so soon i was saving for it due to its high price.
i can see them loosing a lot of customers if they go that route i can imagine theres people out there that pre order more than one exclusive at a time and this will screw alot of people over at once.. i only have hulkbuster and war machine on preorder right now but hulkbuster will destroy my wallet right now. Edit.. Ok they are full of shit i knew this was a thing for exclusives due to the policy! but they removed the pay later feature for everything!? how is that fair? they require payment up front for regular items too!? fuck that after war machine and hulkbuster nippon has lost my buisness!! time to find another middleman! @Den-O lol hook it up!! jk who do you use though? |

Or maybe he's relaxed his requirements since I started using his services. If he has, I suppose he'll chime in. |
The only orders I've been told about are knuckle and type formula. I'm surprised no emails have come through about the complete selection digivice
Forced myself to spilt my order and pay for knuckle and throw formula. I want a complete gaim more than I want drive tbh |
The only real reason I used NY was the pay later option, it was convient to not have to worry about paying a whole month of orders at once, now without that I have very little reason to use them as my preference.
I would assume this whole thing is not very good for their bottom line as well. |
So what items are effected by this at nippon? I only revived a email about knuckle and Pluto but not Vegeta or Omnimon.
|
I just assumed that all items are affected by it.
Though for me only Knuckle is highlighted as having a payment deadline so I dunno what's going on there. |
So Knuckle shouldn't be too bad on the aftermarket, right?
Right? |

Glad I only have Knuckle preordered for those two months. Guess I'll look for a new and smaller middleman too, NY is large enough that they're probably going to surpass Bandai's threshold relatively often.

Just realized I never looked at getting Mach Dead Heat and now see that it is a Tamashii web exclusive for around $60.
WHAT. THE. FUCK. It's also set for Dec, so if I get this from N-Y, it has to be paid up front, and there's NOTHING else that month that I want, so i'm shipping one fucking SHF figure. If i combine with Jan, its the fucking Hulkbuster, and i'm not paying for that now. Fucking Bandai - they could have given us ONE SHF release, two heads. AND it doesn't even come with a tire change ? |

Or they could have just, like...released Mach as the mass retail version, (since he uses this form way more than Drive ever has) and leave Drive's version for the twe. As it is it really is just a pretty crappy situation. |
Just wanted to add to this conversation, i got a request from N-Y for the Hi Metal VF1S strike version and the UA Kamila and Tiga set by middle of August. Nothing else as of yet.
Its a shame, that the policy has to change. |
Oh wait I just noticed that the email had my Knuckle's order number.
I haven't got any payment requests for any of my other items. Btw what exactly is Bandai's policy change now? |

Posted this in recent purchases yesterday. But, got my Alternative Zero yesterday!! Who-hooo!!
|
Hm, just put in an order yesterday for the Nigou/Cyclone pack that's coming out in a couple of months, since it's really going to cost no less than just getting Nigou on his own on the aftermarket.
But...I was looking at pictures more closely just now and noticed that the Nigou in the 2 pack seems to have very different coloring from the old one that was released. The chest and gloves/boots are the same, darker color, and he has silver stripes, rather than white. It's...probably not as accurate, but he actually looks much better this way. So that works out well. The only weird part is for some reason I think he's using Ichigou's legs, with the two stripes, just colored as if it was one. It's not a deal breaker....but it's hella weird, either way. |

But no, seems that Drive always has to find a new way to stall on me. |

But yeah, that they chose Dead Heat over Formula is really odd. I just hope Chaser and Type Tridoron, when they eventually get figures, are not exclusive... |
Oooh so got confirmation from NY that only the items you got an email for regarding the whole Bandai Premium thing will have to be paid in advance. Any of the other items coming out those month are safe!
|
I expect Bandai decides what's going to be a web exclusive and what's going to be a mass release WELL before the episodes themselves air. Shin Zangetsu Melon Energy is a perfect example. If anyone at Bandai had realized the suit's prominence, it wouldn't've been an exclusive.
The only thing I'm not sure about is whether the audience had seen the relevant episodes when Shin Zangetsu was available for pre-order. So Bandai received preorders roughly in line with how they thought the figure would sell. Whoopsie. Total disconnect between Bandai and customers, and the "exclusive" part of "web exclusive" apparently meant they couldn't just fix it with a belated mass release. |
