I've been watching Drive and I can safetly say that I found my favorite Kamen Rider series.
Since I'm at episode 45 I decided to watch the Chaser movie. I was wondering if I should watch this at home with my 10 years old nephew (who is a bigger Kamen Rider fan than I am): After watching, I came to the conclusion that he should avoid it at any cost lol |
Finished Blade and the Blade movie tonight.
It definitely grew on me by the end of the series but it took a while. Blade and Chalice/Joker ended up being interesting. Chalice especially. |
Finished Stronger, great show. First half was a bit slow and clunky at times but the second half was fantastic. And the last handful of episodes rock, really awesome stuff.
I think I'm still in the mood for more Showa so I'll watch Amazon next. |
Welp, I'm considering tackling Ghost. Again.
Not watching Build yet. Kinda skipping out on Drive because of college eating away at my livelihood. |

yikes.
I've been trying to make my way through every episode of every series and ya'll are making me think Ghost is going to be a grind. |

As one of those three people Kiwami mentioned, I'd just like to mention that I still think a lot of the hate Ghost gets is really undeserved. It definitely has enough issues to keep it from being one of the greats (mostly later on), but it doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for all the things it does well.
|
that's kind of how I felt about Ryuki. hahaha
I didn't hate it but during parts of it it felt like a grind. the first (maybe 10?) episodes of Blade felt that way too. It took a while for the Blade story and characters to grow on me. ....and the woman who manned the computer searching for undead looking almost exactly like my Ex-GF didn't make me like the Blade show any better. Lol. I got irrationally angry pretty much every time I saw her. I have like 3 episodes left of V3 and I don't know whether to continue on to Amazon or X,..or watch Hibiki, which is the next in my Heisei line up to watch. (I bounce between Showa/Heisei/Neo-Heisei) Looking forward to Gaim, Fourze, Kabuto, Black and Black RX, and Decade. But I'm trying to get to them 'in order',...which means a bunch of others are ahead of them in line |
Strangely enough I was in love with Blade during the first half, but as soon as Mutsuki became a thing I started to lose that passion.
I left with like 5 episodes still to watch before the end and have since finished 2 different Rider-shows in their entirety. It's really weird since I loved the first half that people apparently hate but the second half that is supposed to be awesome just turned me off. I will finish the show eventually but still. But I'm on a Showa-streak currently and I enjoy it, I will start Amazon today. |

Gotcha~
Thanks, everyone~ |

Does the show get better after Titan's first defeat? The first half feels like a chore rather than fun! |

And you can look forward to the last couple of episodes in particular... they are really cool. I had the same issues as you; Stronger’s start really isn’t the best. |
Five episodes into Hibiki and I'm enjoying it so much. I just feel so happy when I watch this show; I really do love everything about it.
|
good to hear I was thinking about starting Hibiki myself.
I finished up v3 last night and couldn't decide what to watch next. I watched some Dairanger and I watched one episode of Showa Amazons, the theater special. Pretty wild to see the resemblance to the new Amazons series that came out a couple years ago. The slo-mo leap through the air that ended in a head slice that was pouring out "blood" was definitely reminiscent of the new Amazons. As was the way he really yells the word, "AMMAAZZONNNSS!!" Since I just finished V3 though I was thinking of jumping to a Heisei or Neo-Heisei next and Hibiki was next on the Heisei chopping block. It takes me so much longer to get through Showa era series. It's not that they're not good but since they seem so much more 'monster of the week' instead of serialized like the newer ones, I tend to not binge-watch the Showa era shows like I do the new ones. I do get an absurd kick seeing Tobei Tachibana in all these Showa Rider shows though. It's a weird continuity for sure, he's a cool character however. |
If it helps, Amazon is the shortest Rider series ever at only 24 episodes.
|
I watched the first 6 episodes of Kamen Rider Amazon and as you might suspect, I liked it a lot.
Mostly because: https://i.imgur.com/Nl7gi2Y.jpg Exactly. It's just such a fresh and unique concept of a Rider-show. It's basically Tarzan with super-powers and I love it. You still have your usual Rider-tropes but the unique take on the protagonist makes those quite cool to witness as well. I also like how the nature of the character reflects on his fighting style. Super-1 did a fantastic job of making us aware that a Shaolin fighter is inside the suit and Amazon does an equally great thing in making the Amazon Rider a wild beast that mostly uses his claws and fangs to fight the enemy. Speaking of fighting, one thing I find a bit strange is how Amazon has yet to use his signature finisher. I can’t wait to see him turn a Gedon Beastman into a corn syrup fountain :lol |

I watched the Theater special Showa Amazons episode/movie the other night and it definitely ended with "blood" spraying everywhere.
really reminded me of the new Amazons show where he jumps and just slams his arm fins into heads and stuff and blood sprays everywhere. |
I'm up to Episode 12 on Amazon now, and I love this show. So simple, yet so unique and fun. Much has happened since I last shared my progress: The Mole Beastman was introduced, I adore him and his silly "Chu Chu" noises, Amazon faced so many enemies and social tasks and was finally rewarded with... clothing!
I was also quite surprised to see that Amazons did in fact not invent the whole "Draw a weapon out of the Driver"-thing, Amazon himself pulled a knife out of his Condorer belt to stab the Cat Beastman. But I'll bet he'll never do it again. Also, in Episode 11 Amazon faced a Snail Beastman. Remember how impressed I was with Amazon's feral fighting style? Apparently he took fighting lessons from Bruce Lee recently :lol https://i.imgur.com/1J0Sitz.gif https://i.imgur.com/L6eD6B2.gif |
I don’t want to spoil what Amazon’s signature finisher is, but trust me, it is perfect.

Finished Amazon. Fun series, although you really felt how they tried to save the sinking ship during the second half of its short run but then had to give up regardless.
Still a good time though. I think I'll try Black RX now, it's the anniversary after all and I watched Black like 2 years ago, I feel like I want more now. |

I watched the first 3 Episodes of Black RX and so far I'm not impressed. Very much a run-of-the-mill show, the action and effects are good but everything else is pretty awful. The supporting characters are annoying as hell, they are just - way too happy. Or let's say their emotions are portrayed in such extremes that you can't help but roll your eyes.
Kotaro is an especially jarring case IMO - I'm sorry but considering what the guy went through in Black, seeing him living his life acting like this is just not right. He shouldn't be an outcast who lives in a cave either, but you would assume that he is much more careful about relationships with humans around him after his Rider career so far. The most logical assumption to me is that he has actually gone mad :lol The show is not without its strengths, the whole birth of RX was beautifully handled and I loved the role of the King Stone, the Crisis Empire is an interesting enemy but everything else leaves me a bit disappointed. I will give this show its time to prove me wrong but it was a rocky start so far. The breakneck pace isn't helping much either. |
Black RX starts off kinda weird. It stabilizes and improves a lot as it goes along. The arc that introduces Robo and Biorider is where the show really takes off.
|
I've heard rumors that Black RX was supposed to be an original series entirely, but Black was so popular they decided to just make it a sequel.
I'm not sure how true that is, but given what I've heard about Kotaro being almost an entirely different character between the two shows, I'd believe it. |

I started watching Fourze.
Tried to stick with watching things in order but after 5 minutes of Hibiki (which is next in line), I felt like I was watching a musical and turned it off. I'll come back to it. ...I really don't like musicals. Fourze is a lot of fun. After watching Amazon and Dairanger,..which are both sort of dark, bloody and depressing,..Fourze is a nice change of pace. That girl Yuki is so happy and enthusiastic it's really cute. The way she mimics Fourze's henshin with a giant grin on her face is too cute. (being in America where so many girls/women seem angry, moody, antagonistic and miserable lately, it's kind of wonderful to see a girl just grinning and being happy.) Definitely a fun show so far. I'd kind of put it off because the cone-head thing seemed so weird. But once I saw that he's supposed to be a Rocket I just figured, 'Sure, why not',..and went with it. It reminds me a little bit of Kuuga mixed with Build. Kuuga because he wants to be friends with everyone and there's a certain innocence to his character, and build because of the form changes and switching "switches/bottles" in and out of the belt all the time. Anyway, fun show so far. Much more simple and light hearted than I was expecting. But I'm actually in the mood for that after Amazon and Dairanger so it's pretty perfect at the moment. |

thanks. I can get through it if it's only a couple times.
I knew it was an instrument/music based series and I was worried each episode would have a musical number or something. Lol I love music but hate musicals. (except Little Shop of Horrors which I think is a lot of fun for some reason.) |
Just finished watching Ex-Aid True Ending. This is the first show ever that I was both satisfied and unsatisfied with how it ended. This really captured the essence of Ex-Aid and it culminated it excellently, no shortage of tears right when Life Is Beautiful hit during the credits. I just can't help but crave a sequel of the series. It's SO good. I really miss tuning into it, watching a new one each week.

really digging Fourze, it's a lot of fun so far.
I'm about 30 episodes in so I'm chewing threw it pretty quickly. In a way it reminds me a bit of 'W',..not sure why exactly. Fourze reminds me a little bit of Shotaro, and Yuki reminds me a bit of Akiko. ..Yuki reminds me a bit of Moa too (from Ultraman Geed),..just younger, obviously. But kind of happy and sweet, and maybe a tiny bit simple-minded in a sweet and innocent way. either way I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying the show. It's sort of simple and clean and has a central location, (the school), the cast and characters and all good and interesting for the most part. It's a good show. It's actually exactly what I was in the mood for. It feels like 'W' and Build kind of smooshed together a little bit. Though it's more lighthearted than either of those shows. |
I've had a massive hankering to watch Den-O, so I've put my Timeranger watch on hold as I download the entire series.

Black RX, Episode 8.
This one was really good IMO. Most of the other episodes so far, aside from the premise, are kinda average. They don't sum up to much. You get some gorgeous monster suits, cool action scenes and great effect work, but everything around that was a bit… boring. Until this episode, this one was actually very well done. It's about a girl who suddenly turned into a genius, and as it turns out that's because she's half-Crisis, her dad was a renegade Crisis alien who came to Earth and married a human woman. See, what makes this episode good is that the monster and the action take a backseat to the characters. The MOTW is defeated early, and the rest of the episode is completely devoted to RX trying to help the girl overcome her fear of her own heritage. Not gonna lie, I kinda wished Kotaro would’ve identified with her on a more personal level as his own stance to humanity was questioned quite a bit throughout Black and it played a big part during the start of Black RX so I hoped he would say something along the lines "Look at me, I'm not "human" either. But that doesn't matter.". The path they go on instead isn't worse in any way, it's just as powerful, and the scene itself is beautiful. I was a bit shocked how much I enjoyed this episode to be honest. I hope I get to see more stuff like this further into the show. |
a lot of the best episodes are character driven instead of MotW driven.
(for all the series, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Sentai, etc. ) |
Making my way through Ghost.
Looking at it as a "slice of life" show makes the viewing feel a lot better to me. It's a new adventure every day with some drama here and there. Loving it. |
