It gets even worse when most of the time its drawn in a way that its impossible that the X would even cover his eyes :lol

Its never esplained. Its supposed to be a Visor but it always looks like cloth.

And the fact that he's watched the love of his life die (on multiple occasions), he hates himself (or at least, his past self hates his present self), he accidentally killed the most prominent father figure in his life, and his appearances in the movies.
