I've put Boukenger on hold to catch up on Kakuranger (which is pretty easy; gotta love the 20-minute episodes). This show is balls fucking crazy and I kinda love it. I didn't know that Jiraiya's actor is the son of a really famous actor and martial arts god. That's pretty cool. I'm already up to episode 5, which has a guest appearance by the guy that played Radiguet in Jetman. So far pretty much all of the characters are total assholes, which really amuses me for some reason (it also gives most of them more personality than the Zyurangers had during the entire run of their show).

Magiranger Vs. Dekaranger!
Of all the team-up movies I've seen this one had a pretty good mesh between the 2 shows and teams. I like seeing how the Dekarangers have changed and aged a little bit. The budding relationship between Umeko and Sen, Tetsu trying to act (and look with that hair) more like Ban. Swan & Doggie getting outed on their relationship by Miyuki. Everyone is a little bit older and wiser, even Ban. It's cool to see that growth. The story isn't the strongest thing I've ever seen but it gets the job done. I love love love that they found a flimsy premise to make Tetsu cross dress again :lol And they got Hikaru in on the action too which is even more hilarious given his personality. What the story lacks in plot it more than makes up for in several laugh out loud moments. It's a great watch, though I do prefer the Dekaranger Vs Abaranger Movie slightly. And with that my Dekaranger viewing is complete. I miss it already ;( |

I'm watching Zyuranger. This is the first Sentai series I saw and it is pretty good from what I've seen so far. I'm up to the last 12 episodes. Even though I'm more of a Power Rangers fan, I want to give a decent amount of the Super Sentai shows a fair chance since I've heard that most of them are pretty good and I'm planning to check them out in the near future. :)

Up to 36 of Zyu now. Really enjoyed the Satan arc but now its gone back to going through the motions a bit. I know what's coming next though so I'm looking forward to that.
The only heroes I seem to care about are Geki and Burai. The rest are really bland. Goushi might be better if he didn't spend half the time in the background. |

Edit: So I'm up to episode seven of Kakuranger and I legitimately can't decide which is more awesome: that the villain is clearly modeled after Terry Bogard or that Tsuruhime has to disguise herself as a hamburger. This show is very much the fun kind of insane. |
Well I just watched 43-45 of Gobusters. I have to admit, 43 and 44 were pretty good episodes, especially 44 which had a great final battle with Messiah. This is what the battle back in episode 30 should have been like. It was obvious Enter was not killed though, but I am glad Escape is gone as she was really getting on my nerves. Her whole stupid "I don't know why I want to protect him" was annoying and pointless. IN fact, she was just a pointless character all in all. Good riddance.
However, episode 45 was back to awfulness. The whole marriage interview thing was utter crap (Who the hell actually interviews to see if they should get married? You might as well just go to Vegas and marry a hooker after a one night ****) and the monster was pathetic. I hope to the gods the last 4 episodes of the show are actually good. I want this show to at least go out with some dignity left. Quote:

Do people still even believe in arranged marriages these days? I mean, it is 2013. |

Kakuranger episode 9. This week, Jiraiya talks TV. Do you talk some TV?
Kaori's and Burai's actors return in this episode as a news reporter and camera man. Jiraiya gets the spotlight this time along with a Yokai that has else to do but watch TV because there's no farms around to haunt. There's a good scene where Jiraiya and Saizou start beating up on the Yokai before he reveals he's not human...on TV. Good to know the Kakurangers don't ask questions first. Jiraiya also has a Bruce Lee moment in this scene. The main fight is Jiraiya (unmorphed) fighting the Yokai in a 3 round cage match. Every round has Jiraiya taking off more clothes. Why couldn't this be a Tsuruhime scene? :lol PS There's also an Ako-Chan Ramen billboard that's rather hard to spot. |

Episode 9 of Kakuranger. Still can't stand her fucking dimples. Also, Jiraiya is awesome.

And Jiraiya is a total badass. Just caught episode 3 myself. And is it just me or does everyone inexplicably communicate with him even though he doesn't speak Japanese for half the episode? I mean seriously, who at Toei thought it would be a bright idea to have a primarily english speaking character on a japanese TV show? :lol
P.S. After having seen this footage used in a variety of ways for Power Rangers it's crazy to finally have some context for the taxi yokai. That poor guy was always getting beat down by humans. |
BTW, is the kid who plays child Burai in ZyuRanger the same actor who plays Kou in Dai?

Anyway, Kaku 9. The cage fight was pretty neat, and Jiraiya takes his TV way too seriously (Also, Saizou getting kicked in the nads. Hilarious :p) I also noticed they're using their mechs a lot more. It's not "Summon. Combine" as often as other Sentai and PR do (They have done it, but still. It's kinda cool to see the individual robots fight for more than just one episode). |
I've worked my way up to episode 45 of Zyuranger and I'm really hoping this series is going to pull something good out of the bag for the finale. Burai's death scene was well done, but the build up to it was really predictable and the fallout from it was nonexistent. A show has a real problem when the mecha are showing more emotion than the cast. We're just back to kid of the week stories now.
Poor Dragon Caesar though :( He's just like a big dog really. |

Gekiranger 4-9. The poison themed monsters arc. It's pretty much the same as Jungle Fury episodes 4-7. At least the good parts are the same. Honestly, the Disney seasons were really good about copying the GOOD parts instead of...well, Samurai. I think once the 3 aux zords get introduced, Gekiranger will start taking a somewhat different path since Jungle Fury is much shorter.
PS Still missing RJ and still finding Jan obnoxious. |
Just finished up Zyuranger.
Great final battle, although once again I found myself completely uninterested in the Zyurangers and their plight and felt more for Bandora, who just wanted her son back. The Bandora gang really made this show for me (apart from Grifforzer, who I was surprised to see is little more than a background character for the most part). It's a decent show and it was really interesting to watch, but I can't honestly say I'd recommend it that highly. |
I am finished with the Zyuranger series a couple of days ago. Now, I'm watching Dairanger and I'm already on its 4th episode. I really enjoyed the last several minutes of the first episode and the first five minutes of the second episode. Don't have a favorite character on the show itself yet though Ryou and Daigo are kind of growing on me.

Okay, so this kinda pisses me off. I just watched episodes 46-48 of Go-Buster and they were very enjoyable. Outside of the chicken plotline of 47, I am really impressed with them. In fact, Enter being able to turn organics into Roids is awesome, but what pisses me off is this is something that should have happened back in the late 20s/early 30s, NOT in the last 5 episodes of the series! They should have had Messiah and the Sub Dimension defeated right after Jin appeared, then spent the 20s with the Messiah cards, to have Enter spend the rest of the series advancing in what he could combine organics wise. Even Escape finally served a purpose outside of just being fanservice and this just shows that Toei had no idea what the hell they were doing with this series. Such wasted potential.

Well after a month long break, I got back to the grind of watching Megaranger, and I'm now up too episode 33. And it just keeps getting better, and better!. Gileleel was a fairly good villain, willing to do anything it takes to win. And I have to admit, his and Yugande's combined form is fucking awesome looking. And it was sweet to finally see MegaVoyager.
I've said before it's my favorite sentai, and each new episode I watch keeps cementing that even more. I'll probably be done though soon, with only 36 episodes sub. Next time I buy a sentai set, I'll probably pick MR up, even though the DVD isn't subbed. But I'll rough it out for my favorite! |
And now I'm up to episode 35. Just have that and 36 left until I have to switch to only Japanese.

He probably means Guirail.
http://www.grnrngr.com/monsters/pict...megadark02.jpg There are like 5 different spellings of his name that I've seen so it's understandable. |
