Penguindrum 10. Shit got real, I think? Nothing really ended up happening, despite elaborate and stunningly gorgeous visuals. That is my biggest frustration with this series, whenever it feels like stuff is coming together...it just doesn't.
|
Now that I'm done with Gundam Wing, I've gone back to watch my ULTIMATE nostalgia based show, Sailor Moon o3o.
|
Blade King, is Gundam Wing good?
Episodes 16-20 of Gundam Wing SPAAAAAAACE POLTICSSSSSSSS. Seriously. Is it just me, or do I feel like the show is regressing backwards, espically when most of the Gundams are destroyed/damaged Also That Colonel Un bitch pisses me off. And I want to see someone get in Mercury and V8 and wreck some shit. |

If anything I think that's the point where things start to change, then again it's been too long since I saw Wing. |

I just love the Mercurius and Vayeate in Gundam Wing. How they just complement one another.

Haven't watched them actually. I've been meaning to for a long while but they aren't exactly the easiest thing to find. You can find the torrents relatively easily, but I don't like torrrents. |
Gurren Lagann episode 26:
Things got a bit too crazy for my tastes...probability missiles? Seriously? Anyway, apparently Boota got enough Spiral Power to get a humanoid form. Everyone also had odd dreams, and Kamina showed up THROUGH THE POWER OF FREINDSHIP! |
I'm watching One Piece on Toonami, this arc is turning the amesia storyline up to 11.

I quite liked him meeting Simon again. As for the Boota thing it really bothered me, it felt quite stupid honestly. Also maybe some spoiler tags would be nice. Those are kinda important plot details. |

Anyway episode 28: This. Is. INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, uhm...yeah. So, I'm not really a fan of how crazy it got. About 90% was that insane fight. It was nice to see Lordgenome become good. The ending was also kind of touching, if bittersweet. What bothers me is that Simon was like "Yeah, I know we've all been through some serious stuff together, but I'm just going to abandon you all and go off on adventures". I did like the tag at the end, since it showed how far everyone had come since the beginning of the show. Oh, and the animation was amazing these last two episodes. My thoughts on the series as a whole? I quite enjoyed it, but I don't think it's "TEH GREATEST ANIME EVAR!!!!!11!!!!11!1!!11111!" that a lot of people make it out to be. It's not the deepest story ever. It doesn't take itself too seriously (most of the time, I'll get to that later), though I feel that with a show like this, you can't. Now, when I said most of the time...the arc after the time skip. It just really slowed the show down. Bringing things in like "The human condition" and stuff doesn't suit Gurren Lagann. I think the show is at it's best when it isn't trying to be serious. The characters, for the most part are fantastic. Simon, for example, starts off as a whiny little coward, but at the end of the show he grows into a strong leader (and at the tag, a very wise man). Yoko...yes she had giant boobs, and is the shows primary source of fanservice. However, she is not only that. at the very beginning of the show. She doesn't have a Gunman, yet she seems to be the only one who can hold off the enemy Gunman without on of her own. I did like some of the character development she went through. The little part where it showed her as a teacher was nice. Now for Kamina...a lot of his character development came after he had died. When he was alive, all we saw him be was the crazy, bombastic guy. It was then after he died that we found out more about him, and he became a deeper character. I suppose I was ok with it, but I could see how some people might have a problem with it. Lastly. Some people (me included) are turned off by the series due to hearing how crazy it gets (throwing galaxies and stuff). However...NONE of that happens until the very last episode. Yes, episode 26 was crazy, but not THAT crazy. I feel like that was the wisest decision the writers made, because having more than one episode of that would be just ridiculous. So yeah, Gurren Lagann. Not perfect, but still pretty good. |
Watched the newest episode of SAO, so murder mystery?

Personally TTGL is my favourite anime, and I don't really think it's over-hyped at all. Yeah it's ridiculous and at times very shallow, but it's one of the very few animes where I felt truly invested in the story and the characters that populated it.
Kamina's death may have been in reality just a cheap novelty, like many similar devices that crop up in the second half, but you have to remember I was watching this alongside like Bleach where Ichigo would lose one thousand pints of blood an episode and always walk away so TTGL's pull no punches approach blew my world and although I will admit my reaction to the series has never reached that initial 'WHOA!' reaction I had the first time around, it's still an anime I am happy to watch over and over and writing this, I feel like it's been way too long. |

You are going for the Riobot huh, it looks great but man that thing is expensive, hopefully they reissue it soon so you can get it. I wanted bandai to release a Robot Damashii version, it would have been affordable, accurate and super posable. I understand why they made him a SRC, but I would have prefered the damashii. |

HOTD OVA Dubbed is finally out.

Ah Highschool of the Dead, another anime I've been meaning to watch.
|
Watching an episode of Yugioh Zexal where they're dueling a talking dog... Yugioh what happened to you? Seriously what the fudge!?

My main problem with it is the constant new stuff they try to throw at you. The basic premize is that there's 100 Numbers Astral needs to ragin his memory, but then there are also Chaos Numbers which are upgraded versions of the main charcter's numbers but then there are the Fake Numbers that go past 100 that are trying to stop the Number Hunters from reaching thier goals. And then there's the Rank Up spell card which adds 2 more upgrades to Utopia (the main character's main monster) Although the card game is pretty good. |
Episode 13 of G-Gundam. What a great episode!
Master Asia is just a pure don, I love how he even has a Gundam when it's shown he doesn't even need one. He destroys giant robots with a bit of cloth, man. Just a shame that this episode seems to be hinting at him being evil. Kinda weird this episode though, taking the fighting away from the Gundam's and just giving the pilots super powers instead. There were other, much cooler novelties thankfully, like Rain piloting the Shining Gundam. Rain is a real babe, man. Seeing her help do the Shining Finger was just awesome, Domon is a lucky man. Also hell yeah, Darkness Finger vs Shining Finger. |
going to be watching the Fairy Tail OVA

I'm currently watching Gintama

Finished GunXSword. Awesome show, great characters though Van in this anime is almost a visual clone of Spike from Cowboy Bebop. The villains have weird ass depth, the heroes are not perfect and I totally love the El Dora Geezers, best senior Super Robot team ever.

Continuing Shakugan no Shana Final with episode 17. I really enjoyed this one, it was quiet and although not much happened in it, it was still a nice change of pace to just have Yuji simply meet up with Tanaka and Yoshida and talk things out to allow the audience to get a better sense of what Yuji and the Snake of the Festival intend to accomplisg. I think I realized my major issue with it. The series is at it's strongest when dealing with character interactions, a strength that's sadly lost when dealing with large scale battles. I love Shana, but the series still has issues.

So with it being like a week since my last episode of Penguindrum, I have to say, it was really hard to get back into the wavelength of this show as pretty much the whole first half of episode eleven is entirely abstract, where none of the words mean anything in any kind of literal sense. After a hard day of work I was kinda happy at places to just accept she is a literal Love Hunter because fuck it.
Then again, in the context the second half of the show was utterly bizarre, where Ringo makes a literal love potion that turns Tabuki into the Hulk on heat, what the fuck is going on? I feel like I'm really warming to Ringo though, just like the show seems to want me too, her relationship with Shou is really fun. I love how they're using the original themesong again as well. |
Been thinking of starting another anime series once I finish the first half of Gundam wing and Kamen rider kuuga. I want to get into shonen anime. I've seen about the first 1/3rd of DBZ and my fair amount of all 4 Yugioh series but I want to watch some of the series instead of just reading Psyren.
I want to see Toriko, because I heard that's interesting, but then my public library also has Yu Yu Hakikso season 1, which I really want to watch, and then there's Viz's streaming which has Nura and Blue Exorcist. Decisions decisions |

Well this is it, the final episode of Shakugan no Shana. I must say, I've enjoyed the ride. I laughed, I cried, and soon I'll have to say goodbye... farewell, Shana. :cry

Gundam wing episodes 21-25.
Space politics, space politics, space politics and more spa...... HOLY SHIT, DID THAT JUST HAPPEN!?!?! My reaction to the last 5 episodes I watched. Episodes 24 and 25 of Gundam wing are awesome game changers and the best two episodes so far. Quatre going rogue with Zero Gundam after his father dies, the V8 and Herciurus getting destroyed, upgrades to both the Deathscythe and Wufei's Gundam and Une bitch dying. This is what I like about Gundam, when there's plots about the mechs, the pilots, Zechs and action sequences that last longer then 2 minutes. I don't want any Reena and Political bullshit, I have had enough already, just tell a good story with the good ideas you have. This series would be a hell of a lot better so far if most of it wasn't just all focused on the political aspects. |
Gundam Wing is telling a good story with great ideas. That is why it is still the best Gundam series to date. And Gundam has always been about politics.

Been rewatching the recent JoJo anime because of All Star Battle, just finished episode 3.
