I hope it gets better. Get some more sleep if you need it. |

I've cleaned my ears with q-tips for 24 years. No particular reason for it - just the fact that it feels good and satisfying. It is scientifically proven that your ears basically self-regulate, so there is no valid reason to ever do this. The packaging for q-tips even says not to, but I thought I could trust myself to stay safe.
Last week I accidentally pushed a q-tip a bit too far into my eardrum, and now I have an impacted ear - in other words, there is earwax stuck very deep in my ear. I've spent an entire day trying to rinse it out with hydrogen peroxide, to no avail. The best part? I've been deaf in one ear since then. Hopefully my doctor will be able to get this sorted. Never again. |

I've had a slightly similar situation in the past, and it's easily sorted. A nurse is going to flush your ear canal, and whatever's lodged is going to pop out. It's going to feel like your entire head is flooded from the inside for a few seconds, but it's a super-simple process. Cheap and quick. You will probably be subject to a chiding comment from the nurse about proper ear care, but that's as uncomfortable as it's going to get. |
