I'm not a fan of the Honoo's art, it looks like the crest has some weird fan going across it. I think it's just part of the wing, but it's really odd-looking.

OK, I was confused for a sec because I couldn't remember that specific pose being used for any box art/stock photos of the Wing.

I don't think they look terrible, they just don't look "Gundam". There are some suits I like from the series, and some I despise. I think the biggest problem is the story and how all-over-the-place it is
