I figured I'd make my own deals in GTS so I can knock out Politoed, Scizor and Slowking. Really trying to get as much done before the mid-Jan update renders that a moot point.

It's something they seem to be seriously working on in this gen, giving previously unremarkable Pokémon their own niches either through abilities or moves. Like Drizzle on Pelipper or Burn Out on Typhlosion.

That is probably my biggest problem with this gen, the locking of multi-player essentials behind competitive level walls. Destiny Knot is a complete pain in the ass to get, either through Pickup or BP, instead of having one for free like in every other game. It's like they want multiplayer to only exist for the fanatics willing to struggle for these basic competitive necessities.

...Of course, I'm doing it, so it's possible, it's just...

2 steps forward, one step back in a big way in this department. Having easily and quickly accessible IVs? A great thing. Not having to worry about breeding screwing up your egg moves? Good. Not having the ability to pass down IVs without massive time investment regardless of what method you choose to get the knot? Bad. Very bad.

Introducing an intuitive system for Wi-Fi functions? Amazing. Immediately removing in the next generation of games only to be replaced with a very very very annoying and stupidly designed mini game? You suck Game Freak.

Yeah... GameFreak has this really bad habit of introducing good mechanics just to drop them in later games...

To be fair, the opposite is also true, see how much easier berry farming is with the Pelago.

Honestly, I think the Festival Plaza wouldn't be half as annoying if the PSS was still the major communication system, with the Plaza being relegated a position similar to Poke Pelago, as an optional mini-game with neat rewards instead of the big gate to all communication features.

Having a mini-map, good. Removing the sweetness that is the Search Dex? Bad.

I mean, yeah, Ability Capsules aren't exactly the most common item around, but the fact that the option is there is a boon all in itself. It's not like we're in pre-Gen 6 where you'd be completely SOL if your shiny just had the wrong ability.

Not to mention, they at least halved the cost for one from the obscene 200 BP it was in Gen 6 to 100. Which, while still obscene, is comparatively much better. If only they'd done the same for the other items...

My one major complaint is I wish they worked on Hidden Abilities too. I have a few Pokémon in my PC that would've been perfect if those capsules did that.

Does synchronize work on the Ultra Beasts? About to start the quests to get them and not looking forward to all the soft resetting.

They should, since you encounter them like any other wild Pokémon.

As for the Ability Capsule thing, I would prefer them to either work for getting Hidden Abilities or they were easier to get. If they could get Hidden Abilities, I'd say they're worth the effort.

Of course, I've got a Shiny Marowak, but it's got the wrong nature and IVs while my otherwise correct one has the HA ability, which I didn't even want...

So of course getting an HA for anything without an obvious "I've got the HA" like Imposter or Snow Warning. Of course, outside of the greatness that is the Search Dex, it's not really that much more annoying than the Gen 6 methods.

They do work on UBs. Just remember to faint the synchronizer if it's a lowlevel mon, otherwise a free Beast Boost happens and that's terrifying

Poor Dwebble and Crustle don't learn Crab Hammer, but every other Crab-Like Pokemon does. Including Crabrawler and Crabominable who aren't water types, just like Dwebble and Crustle.
