To be fair Kid icarus is Sakurai's adopted son, i'm sure he fells like it needs more attention.

It doesn't matter if Sakurai likes the characters he made for Uprising, Smash Bros is about the whole of Nintendo, not just what Sakurai has favouritism for.

Dark Pit does not deserve a character slot by any stretch of the imagination. Kid Icarus: Uprising doesn't deserve two newcomers, especially when a bunch of unique characters have been cut. It also doesn't deserve to be the franchise with by far the most items.

Is it really worth getting THAT worked up...?

Writing angrily on a forum isn't the same as getting really worked up in person. I'm just pointing out why its stupid.

But I'd also say that a game as hyped up as Smash Bros is also worth getting a bit invested in when things aren't good. If you don't care about your hobbies, what's the point on having them as hobbies? I'm not the kind of person that just sits there and loves everything when its clear they're no achieving their full potential.

Considering one of the more well known and earlier statements was that there wasn't going to be an abundance of clones, then following the revelation of 3 clones (It's already confirmed that Lucina is literally no different from Marth beyond her sword's "Sweet spot", Dr. Mario is just heavier Mario, and Dark Pit is just Pit's black alt), Ganon not changing at all, and popular franchise Metroid being delegated to 2 characters, and things are starting to pile on and on to deserve such a rant.

I don't understand why people are getting mad over this. Duck Hunt was an incredibly popular game back in the day, including a character, even a rather silly one, makes a lot of sense.

I do agree that the clones really could have just been alternate costumes, but it's not like they're taking up slots or stopping other characters from being included. It just means we have more variety.

And yeah, the biggest franchises have always had the most amount of representation. Some others could maybe do with more, but who else could be added to, say, Metroid that wouldn't just be another Samus? (and don't even think about saying Ridley!)

Ridley. No, he's not too big. If they can downsize Bowser who has been gargantuan at times, they can size down Ridley.

Here's the thing though. Kid Icarus isn't even nearly one of Nintendo's biggest franchises. It was completely obsolete before SSB:B and has since then gotten one incredibly mediocre (borderline bad) game.

There is no proper reason why Metroid has less then Kid Icarus. Don't give me the "Ridley is too big" BS when we have a game in which Pikachu and Jogglypuff are half the size of Bowser. If ill-fitting clones are a good option, then Ridley even has way more similarities with Charizard then Ganondorf has with Captain Falcon. And Ridley, while being such a requested and obvious choice, isn't the only good option. If Dark characters are fair game, then Dark Samus would've been an absolutely awesome addition. And she wouldn't even be a clone. And that's just characters! Don't get me started on the ludicrous amount of items Kid Icarus has!

Plus there's other bullshit like the fact Paluntena has waaaaaaay more attacks then anyone else (and unless mistaken, is the only non-Mii Fighter with completely original customizable attacks) while Ganondorf is still a freaking clone of Falcon. Ganondorf has NEVER been a hand to hand fighter! Also the fact that Pit, Kirby and Meta Knight all have new moves and Ganondorf is still a freaking clone of Falcon!

Just be prepared for my insane rage-induced rant when they inevitably announce that Dark Pit has a completely original Final Smash and Meta-Knight and King Dedede have new ones.

I can understand Dark Pit because he is actually a different character than Pit, but I don't understand the return of Doctor Mario. I still want the game but it's weird adding these characters.

I don't think there's a problem with Ridley's size, just his overall design. I don't think he's a character remotely suited to being in a melee based fighting game. I'm not sure who else you could add from Metroid either, dark Samus would a third version of Samus.

Same games have more reps, simply because there's a bigger variety of characters to add from them.
