Random question, but can you do a pic of how the shoulders connect to the arms? I'm curious if it's the same port system used on Bouken/Deka/Gokai.

According to the Bandai Blog, Series 04 will be coming out July 23rd. This set will most likely contain the X Emperor.

I decided to get this dude for my birthday because Liveman is my favorite Sentai ever and OF COURSE I'd want an actually affordable version of the best Sentai robo ever. *casts glance at the $2000+ vintage Live Robos*

Don't think I did a terrible job assembling it, since it's my first Minipla but one of the stickers did tear when taking it off the sticker sheet with my tweezers but it's barely noticeable.

Looks perfect, and if you hadn't mentioned the tear, I wouldn't be studying the pic to find it, yet I still can't. So barely noticeable indeed. Looks pristine.

Great Orion Battler! Never noticed before how the thrusters behind the head almost make it look like an Olympic torch robo. Which the big club it wields helps give that effect too of "passing the star torch."

Those... do not look good. I blame the basic design, though, rather than the minipla folks. I appreciate that is has a zillion modes (gun, train, two different-looking robots), but it comes at the cost of any notion of sleekness. I'm confident the minipla will be drastically better than the DX, but... nope. (Edit: Nope, I just looked up the DX. The minipla will move better, but the DX does a better job of looking solid.)

Ugh. Not just a lousy design, but the two shades of Bandai minipla plastic I can't stand. This is going to need a lot of paint...

Also I put together the Cyclone Dial fighter, and most of the right side is hollow. It's a big disappointment.

Hah, I just realized this set would be one that's worth getting the full box set so you can display it in both modes. Not sure if the design is enough for me to keep buying this series' minipla though.

I'm assuming the legs on the other four base mecha can separate. Also, the legs on the arm-mecha look awful; I hope they come up with a non-terrible-looking solution, but don't have confidence that they will. The finished mecha prototype, though, looks fantastic.

I also noticed the blog says the next post will introduce their next release. Google Translate renders: "Next is the appearance of that surprising little squadron!"

That's super annoying. I haven't got any since RyuTeiOh but plenty of the voyagers were better than that.

If I did get minipla I am glad it so far only seems to be Cyclone affected as I don't like that dial fighter. Now if this happens to say Blade and Scissors or Biker then NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Minipla preorder opened for a rerelease of lupinkaiser called vs vehicule 01 : Re and for VS vehicule EX.
If the rerelease is the same as vs vehicule 01, there is no real info for vs vehicule EX.
The price is higher (500 yen instead of 350 for a single box).
In the past we had hyperResha in toqger that has this kind of price. A box was a bit bigger than the standard box.
A complete set is 5 boxes (no individual for this set for now).
What could it be else than : magic dial fighter, trigger machine splash, lupin magnum, siren striker and victory striker ?
I am a bit surprised that it would be released in that way, perhaps it is something else ?

This makes me really want them to start making a line of mecha slippers. For all the foot style combination sentai mecha.

Hard to believe that isn’t even their final/Ultrazord combination.

Finally getting around to posting every tidbit that's come out recently.

1. It appears that Series 05 is going to focus on the movie mechs, as it's listed as Lupin Rex, the name of the combination with the movie Jackpot Striker.
1.a. It'll be coming out some time in August.

2. There's also something called Series EX coming in November according to Amiami, but if Series 05 is the movie one I have no idea what it will contain.


In unrelated news, I finally finished putting together my Super Liverobo model. Really like it, but the amount of kibble left over is annoying. I've been trying to find a way to store the big guns on it somewhere, but nothings looked good yet.

Not sure but "ex" series are usually transparent pieces or extra artillery things.
Though they should still have a few more things coming up in the show too. That'd be about the midway point.

That's what I thought too, but we've already had the transparent ones with the Sp series. It might be the micro mini-pla, but those are usually called micro gattai.

It talk in the japanese description about getting a bigger volume. So as it is more expansive I would believe on a bigger box with a bit more of what we used to have in a standard box (like dekabike robo minipla)
As for the date, it will be release really late for the show, so apart of what is going to be released from august to november, I can't think of anything.
5 boxes would make each new vs vehicules (magic dial, splash, the two strikers) and lupin magnum, each in a single box. If it seems ok for the vs vehicules (they don't seems really bigger than the standard vs vehicules) it seems a bit light to have a correct lupin magnum...
As there are no info about further toy release, it should be the last vs vehicule minipla for this year (perhaps a clear version of something in december ?)

Could be, though I would think they'd do a transparent release of the extra Ranger mecha trains too. *Shrug* who knows. But look forward to seeing whatever it ends up being.

If they released some clear set they would be named SP02.
I wonder if they do clear version based on sales of the normal set... (there was not SP last year for orion for example when there was one for cube whale two years ago)
Last year SP01 was set 1 and 2, then SP02 was set 3 and 4. No SP for the set 5 (movie), 6 (orion) and 7 (minor leo/ moraimars, skill)
This year SP01 was set 1 and 2. But as set 3 is only auxiliary vs vehicules (no individual release), I can't imagine them doing a SP02 with set 3 and 4.
I believe it will be either set 4 alone, or perhaps set 4 and the future EX set.
It could also mean that there will be no other clear set (if set 4 is not selling well for example)
Can't wait to have some info on the future release too ;)

Yeah, it all depends on sales figures pretty much. Your examples were all ones that did, and the ones skipped were ones that didn't sell as much.

I don't know if if the normal minipla will work better, but the top half of the clear version does not hang together well. Putting the cross member on the back helps a bit, but mine seems like it's too heavy for it's own good.
