I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a set of Decade Riders, to go with Complete Form.
Personally hoping for Drive or Ghost. |
I was thinking they might do a Decade CHRONICLE complete with Ride Plus re-issues/updates, but them dropping Complete into Saber makes me think otherwise. Weird as it is to say, I think if we're gonna see any more Decade stuff... it'll be in the main line. Which, in all fairness, is very very fitting for Decade.
|
Get ready for a Chronicle Kuuga rework.
|
That Gaim stuff is borderline tempting. I'd probably be all over that if I didn't have a lot of the Gaim Figuarts in storage, but even so, Kiwi Ryugen and Ichigo Gaim never got made by Figuarts... aaagh!
|
So how do y'all think Kiva-la would be dropped?

Edit: We may also get the other Chronicle riders that haven't been made yet as wave filler maybe. |
The funny thing is that while Saber was pushing a ridiculous amount of forms at the start of the show, the way it's done means that there's less figures needed to cover them. We've already got all the auxiliary forms covered aside from Arthur, and at this point in the show there's not a lot of new stuff being introduced. So it certainly seems like SO-DO has a lot of space to do other stuff.
|
IIRC, the candy toy blog stated the So-Do Chronicle line up had already been planned, and in order to capitalize on the Decade/Zi-O specials, Decade Complete was included in mainline So-Do. So it sounds like a Decade Chronicle lineup is not in the works
|
Since they also seem to consider SO-DO and SHODO to be compatible and never really try to get in each others' way - they always cover different series, CHRONICLE Den-O being in SHODO's heisei rider lineup - I think they wouldn't do anything pre-Kiva. In my mind the three biggest possibilities are Kiva, Fourze and Wizard; and maybe Drive and Ghost.
Kiva and Wizard would go similarly to Kuuga -- first wave would be their base form and three alternative forms (with Kiva's being combinable into DoGaBaKi like SHODO Agito), while the second wave is the final form, both forms of the main secondary, and one extra rider. Based on what Gaim's doing it looks like they want to prioritise what was in the show, so I think Wizard would go for Wiseman while Kiva... well, it's a toss-up between Saga and Dark Kiva. I think they'd do Dark Kiva for Otoya's popularity, but also Saga is a completely different character, but also also Saga getting the short end of the stick would be so fitting given his figure history... I dunno. And then P-Bandai sets for the movie stuff and in Wizard's case a Dragon set with All Dragon parts, again like Kuuga. Fourze's the one I'm really stuck on. There's technically less in-show suits to cover and I think he's more popular than Kiva and Wizard to boot, but... the big draw is of course the modules. I'm at a loss how they'd try to incorporate all or even some of those. Judging by weapon packs SO-DO have done in the past for the mainline or even just Kiwami Arms there is a lot of stuff they can feasibly pack in, but I really wonder what their limit is there especially when 8 slots between two waves are taken up by 7 in-show suits (base, fire, elek, magnet, cosmic, meteor, storm). And of course, this also goes for Drive and Ghost where they also have more suits to cover. |
Third and the last for now of my Riders is finished: Kamen Rider Black Waltz. This is a reworking of an older custom called Waltz.
https://i.imgur.com/EGmCwTl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YsaX4ny.jpg Parts: Hat- 2008 Ki-Adi-Mundi Comic 2-Pack Head- Para-DX Action Body dummy head Arms and legs- Para-DX Staff- Arms Action Kamuro Torso and feet- Zi-O Torso armor, shoulder armor, and robe- WizardArmor Hip- Build Gamer Driver- Shakariki Sports The old custom: https://i.imgur.com/8LPqA08.jpg Here's new vs old. The reason for the update is because Para-DX's Perfect Puzzle armor is awful. Try to move the arms and the shoulder pads fall off. Wasn't happy with the colors either. Ironically the WizardArmor is also awful for stuff falling off, but I removed that part. I lost the cloth robe, but I think this one works pretty well. Also gave him a NES colored Gamer Driver. I switched to gold from silver because the Black Wizard class used some gold. Like the original, took some inspiration from Vivi's pants, the black mage from Final Fantasy IX. https://i.imgur.com/M9pReJI.jpg And finally T Rider, G1-R, and Black Waltz together. Really happy with how these three turned out. https://i.imgur.com/dKLvq5s.jpg |
That's a super nice custom Blade. I love me a good black mage, so this is really appealing to me.
On the note of SO-DO Chronicle, I'm hoping we get ghost this year but I have doubts. |
Thanks! I've tried to come up with more FF Rider ideas, but the black mage was the only one that ever came together.
I think the front runner for SO-DO Chronicle is Fourze since they did both W and OOOs on their 10th anniversaries. But anytime you try to predict SO-DO they will surprise you with everything you never thought possible. Personally, I'd like to see Wizard or Drive. They're the only 2 Heisei Riders I don't have in my main rider display (also their past candy toys are pricy and hard to find to). I also would only want the base forms, so my wallet could rest. The Rider that needs a better candy toy line is Ghost. I consider Gangan Action to be the absolute low point of the pre-SO-DO candy toys. It was so bad that they had to rethink everything from the ground up and make SO-DO. I don't think we'll see Agito since Shodo-X/O has done him recently, but also did the entire form changing gimmick. It's basically fully painted SO-DO. Kabuto has been getting love in Shodo recently to, though I think SO-DO could get away with the Masked forms easier than Shodo. |

Hopefully its a reasonable price. Benchmark is 6,380 yen each set How was the price for the US P-Bandai of the Kuuga set they did a couple months ago compared to Japan? |

odds are they'll cost the same as the Shodo Digimon sets at $50 |
Those Shodo Digimon sets were 4,950 yen each which is about $50 give or take. The Kuuga set was 5,900 yen which did jump up in price to $70, though Bluefin only charged shipping. These Gaim sets are 6,380 yen each, so I'm thinking they will be $65-$70 plus tax and shipping.

Just recently received my favorite rider from Saber,
Kamen Rider Buster https://i.imgur.com/4E4UdlH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/svsfAlb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GtNiTYm.jpg Even with all the effort I put into painting this SO-DO, it still feels a little off to me. Buster, more than a lot of other SO-DO figures, really suffers from the whole "only paint the front" design. The figure itself has a lot of expressive posing potential but the lack of paint really stands out. You can see that I used for the black parts wasn't a best fit as it is much glossier than the included matte black paint. Well, it's best to keep this figure in low, dramatic lighting! I usually only collect primary rider suits and an occasional final form, but I really love Buster's design. He looks like a giant menacing mecha. I'm definitely planning to pick up the SH Figuart whenever that comes around. |
Revisted some Ex-Aid so-do stickers and cheated a little with the top coat. Put a small layer on the underside of the sticker, then held it in place for a bout a minute.
What wouldn't even stick to the paper is now securely placed on the figure. |

WOW, good god does SHODO-O 6 look incredibly fantastic. I saw the promotional images on the blog and for a second I genuniely thought I was looking at SH Figuarts. It blows my mind that Blood Stalk and Night Rogue actually use different molds.
My problem with this line in the past was that they don't really touch upon the more recent Kamen Rider series - seeing more Build and Ex-Aid has me very excited. |
Remember we were promised SO-DO Chronicle News! Well, we've got it! An old series returns, as we get
- Kuuga Beat Chaser 2000 with Gouram! https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...0210183559.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...0210184149.jpg https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/image...0210184556.jpg Same price as the Try-Chaser set (~6000 Yen), and I guarantee there's a couple of Kuuga fans here who'll be happy. It's a VERY good night to be a Build fan! They're really pressuring me into going all-in on SHODO Build...
|
This is the good stuff, I kind of wish I collected SHODO now not gonna lie. (I probs won't start cause I missed P-bandai stuff of suits I like)
|
Any BeatChaser merchandise that includes the parachute is good BeatChaser merchandise.

I personally still prefer RKF - solely because they're cheap and meant to be played with and I touch my figures A LOT, but I'll be damned if I don't take a moment to appreciate how good the SHODO figures look. I really am super tempted, but as a guy who constantly plays with his figures on his desk, I don't trust myself to not break the shoulder pads at some point. |
Update: Cursory zenmarket search shows that I can actually find the agito 3 pack for not an absurd price. (point of comparison being trychaser being just way to pricey)
|
For anyone else following the Converge figures which are shown on the same SODO/SHODO blog: I can't believe we are getting a figure of X Sword Man before we got the other 3 side riders (by the way what do we call these riders?)! What's more is he comes with a sword!
Happy to see we are getting Decade Complete in Converge. Every iteration of that suit is welcomed. |
Well, guess I'm going to try and collect some Shodo now.

The Shodo KyuuKyuu Sentai Gogo V showed up in the mail recently, and I'm seriously impressed!
The last time I'd handled candy toy Sentai, it was Lupinranger vs. Patranger, and they were... fine. I couldn't help but notice the cut corners like wrong-colored parts. The stickers didn't delight me. Shodo Gogo V - the figures themselves - require no stickers at all. Everything is painted. (I thought the unpainted torso backs might have been a cut corner, but nope: that's screen-accurate.) Even the visors, which would be an obvious place to sticker, are painted. The articulation is better than I'm used to at this scale: in addition to ball joints, the shoulders have some forward-back motion, and the upper torso rests on a ball joint. The upper arms have a cut below the shoulder for additional range of motion. The legs are really the only weak point, and I'm probably only noticing that because for the male figures, you can't get their feet together without popping the legs off their ball joints. GoPink, on the other hand, has no such problem, but her lower body movement is somewhat restricted by her skirt. These are much higher quality than Yu-Do, and that's even before you get to the accessories. Each figure has a pistol-in-holster by default, but it can be swapped for a separate, empty holster when you want them holding the pistol in question. They've got their pistols, melee weapons, a second pistol I'm assuming a combined-with-sword modes, their V-staves, and the bird-drill-thing. Those are where stickers come in. I haven't yet tried applying them, as without then the pistols certainly look less toy-like. It appears the bird weapon may separate into individual parts? I'm still sorting through the accessories. The hands are what dazzled me most. Although there don't appear to be any special hands for their mid-roll-call poses, there's practically everything else I could imagine wanting: hands to hold everything, flat hands for saluting, a more curved flat hand for... I'm not sure yet... pointing heads for the final group pose, and more. What blew my mind... Well, let me give you some context. I picked up the LvP Yu-Do figures, and while that line eventually started adding swappable hands in the Kyuranger line, they were already a little big, they weren't always appropriately-colored, and Pink and Yellow had to share overly-large hands with the male figures. Each Shodo Gogo V member has an individual sprue with a selection of hands, plus a separate sprue with three more. For the male figures, these appear to be identical. However, GoPink has an entirely separate two sprues that give her proportionate hands. This is above-and-beyond stuff. The whole set cost me about as much as a current S.H. Figuarts. They look just great on my shelf, and now, I'm hoping Bandai's candy toy division gives this treatment to other teams. I'd love to see this with, say, Goseiger, Gekiranger, or Megaranger. It looks like Gaoranger is likely to be next - I may pass because I'm iffy on those suits - but I dunno if I'm going to be able to resist buying teams I like if they're given a treatment this nice. |

It is worth noting that Shodo sometimes have stickers, it's not often though. When they do have stickers, it's for a reason. Things it would increase production cost beyond reason (GoGoV's weapons), paint just won't get the looks they are trying to replicate (in the case of Bioman), far to detailed for the paint they work with (like Blade's cards and Ex-Aid's chest), or as an option thing (Like the stickers to make Shocker Rider bikes).
Doesn't bother me any if they have stickers or not since I usually have to paint a bunch of stuff anyways. Though it is nice when they look good even without stickers. For example most of SO-DO Zero-One looks great without them. |
I really like Shodo, I just wish they were easier to get than buying whole cases or paying ~$15 each on the aftermarket.
|
I just picked up some whole cases of SoDo figures for just one or two figures I actually want.
Do you all think people would be interested in buying the spare ones pre-painted by me or is it just better to resell them new-in-box? |

You could also always offer to pre-paint them if someone buys them. |
